I understand that infinite will be supported for 10 years, but will that be like a final update in October 2031 or so and then we just get occasional major bug fixes and the focus officially shifts to MCC, or will they give final new content in 2029 and then give big fixes for two years and then just stop updates?
I assume 343 will give us one final major update at the end of Infinite’s life-cycle, to send it out with a bang.
Halo Infinite 2
Games seem to like just adding a second number like they just created the next best thing lol.
343 will release one final update for Halo Infinite, end support for the game (but keep the servers up) and announce Halo 7.
I think the Campaign will be built like the MCC, with each expansion acting as chapters in the overall story of Infinite, the first being Zeta Halo.
The Multiplayer, which appears to be a seperate game, will continued to be iterated with each Season and Battle Pass.
I don’t think they will stick to 10 years. I think it’s more likely that they will time it to the release of a ‘Halo 7’ to launch the next generation of Xbox.
At that point Infinite will move into an MCC role, with occasional MP updates that are free, while most of the 343 team support the new release.
This is a good question - the title made me think “are they going to take this game perpetual” like Windows or even MCC. With a long term support intention including seasonal content and perhaps major expansions as we go.
Who knows, it remains to be seen.

I think instead of “Halo 7” They’ll release Halo 5 Anniversary for the Xbox “Series Y” or whatever they call the follow-up to the Series X. Then Halo players will have
-Infinite
-MCC
-H5A
And then once that’s rounded out 343i should start on the next Halo.

I’d personally rather get Halo 3 Anniversary.

There’s actually a windows 11 on the horizon with 10’s support ending in 2025.
This why is ‘10 year plans’ and ‘this is the last version of X’ aren’t really believable.
Lets be real here nobody knows how the next 10 years are gonna pan out they may even scrap that idea yet we don’t know but you can certainly geuss they would be making a sequel as they aren’t going to let one of their flagship series die off.
I could see Infinite bein the hub for post xbone Halos like MCC is the hub for pre xbone Halos.
Rebuild of Halo Infinite 2.0+1.0
Seems about right!

I think so too. It is something my friend and I discussed a few times.
I can’t imagine there being no more Halo games for an entire decade.
I think we will get another mainline Halo game in year 7 or 8 of Infinite’s life.
I’m going to imagine Infinite will be lasting quite a few years, maybe not 10 though, just depends how well it does and how long it retains a large player base. Throughout infinites life cycle we may get one or two spinoff Halo games and then once infinite is buried, we simply get Halo 7 or an entire overhaul to Halo Infinite or even a reboot since it would be a hard sell to make people buy any halo multiplayer after Infinites is free to play. Besides spin-offs. I’d imagine the spin-offs to be their own seperate game.

Do you know what, rather than H5A, I’d rather it be added to Infinite as prequel DLC expansion.
This is a crazy, out there, never-gonna-happen idea, but you’re getting it anyway, aha!
Other than 2 introductory missions, the rest of the game takes place in 3 seperate locations; Meridian, Sangheilios, and Genesis. And most of their missions take place in a relatively local area. So why couldn’t they work as large semi-open-world maps?
Basically, they could recreate Halo 5 in Infinite, in the same way they they are planning their sequel expansions, only taking the story and leaving everything else. They could drop some of 5’s maps remade and other content to the MP side of the game too.
With Reach to Halo 4 all wrapped up nicely in the MCC, and Infinite planning to do the same moving forward, it does kind of leave Halo 5 as this lonely game stuck between two behemoths.
And depending on how Infinite and it’s future stories play out, I think Halo 5 is going to be seen as more of a prologue chapter to the ‘Infinite Saga’, in the same way the 4 feels like an epilogue to the ‘Bungie Saga’.
Like I say, this will never ever happen, but I think it’s a nice concept.

True - tracking on Windows 11. Though I look at something like Destiny with a “game as a service” model - remains to be seen.
Could be done, who knows.

This is a great idea, but I feel like Halo 5 is an entrance in to Halo that would attract COD players. And putting it on infinites engine would kind of loose that, they need that genre to be attracted to halo, so a H5A is the most logical solution that some would say makes the same mistakes as Halo 5. And Halo 5 isn’t going to MCC, so it remaining it’s own black sheep game in the Halo franchise is good.

I see what you did there
