WHAT does sprint ADD to the game?? Really?...

Now there’s a lot of threads out there where people clearly state that they would hate to see sprint in Halo 4. And they also argument (with a lot of good and valid reasons) for why sprint shouldn’t be in the game.

The three strongest arguments (imo) for why it shouldn’t be in the game is:

That it forces maps to be larger and stuff (imagine sprint (oddball LOL) on Guardian for example, what a joke). It takes out all the small maps that can be a lot of fun :frowning:

The second argument is that it makes people able to run away from their mistakes all the time. (Make it pick up and one time use like a Halo 3 power up and it wouldn’t be any difference from a Halo 3 power up. (That would also solve the map adaption problem.))

And the third strong argument is that it slows your initial speed down in order to be implemented in a way that doesn’t turn it into some sort of super sprint … lol

HOWEVER, IS THERE ANY ARGUMENTS FOR WHY IT SHOULD BE IN THE GAME?? WHAT DOES IT ADD TO THE GAME??

Play the game when it comes out and find out for yourself.

It allows lesser skilled players (either in the aiming or thinking departments) to get away with certain actions that they shouldn’t be. Actions they couldn’t get away with in past Halo games.

That is what it adds, a crutch.

Frustration.

> Play the game when it comes out and find out for yourself.

Argument of the day. Monkey…

the only argument for it in Reach is that player movement is way too slow without it; HOWEVER, if bungie didn’t nerf player speed to make sprint appear to be useful then we wouldn’t need it at all. its just proof that AA’s were an afterthought that was thrown into the game without any thought behind their repercussions.

sprint should die a painful death along with the rest of AA’s and perks or whatever they will be called in halo 4

the ability for skilled players to move more fluidly through the map to get kills, the ability to reach a destination more quickly (we all know when your trying to get accoss the map and it takes so long you start jumping and spinning) and makes flanking an actual option in tactical situations.

> the ability for skilled players to move more fluidly through the map to get kills, the ability to reach a destination more quickly (we all know when your trying to get accoss the map and it takes so long you start jumping and spinning) and makes flanking an actual option in tactical situations.

That’s a valid point, but how does it weigh against the ability to sprint away from your mistakes? And what if you flank them, wouldn’t they just in turn be able to sprint away since they’ll realize they’re caught off guard and have to reset?

All sprint does is make halo look more modern, and allow it to be more newb friendly. That is all. Nothing else. Why they have it? They want to sell.

I believe the ultimate argument against sprint is that it has lots of negative aspects to it and no positive aspects that are exclusive to sprint. Therefore addition of sprint is irrational when all the positive effects and a lot more can be added with higher default movement speed, while not having to care about the negatives.

Of course, this argument would take a hit happened someone to find a positive aspect that is exclusive to sprint. Even then, the amount and the benefit of sprint exclusive positives would still have to outweigh the amount and benefit of high default movement speed exclusive positives and all the negatives of sprint itself.

I fear you’re right son D:

Well said kind sir

That can all be achieved without Sprint by upping the default speed for everyone.

oh my SIDES.

Calls Spider Man

“Dude Man what the -Yoink- am I looking at”

Sprint is so harmless and really doesn’t do -Yoink- for the game. Old games you used to just run 1000 miles n hour and jump 50 feet, not much more skill then having to actually press a button and run faster and only for a few seconds.

The amount of people I have seen run away from me killing is so low it doesn’t matter. And -Yoink- why is it so bad people have an option to escape death? If you are so damn good and pro you will track them down and kill them. While on the other side now you have the ability to run away or something, and outsmart your enemy.

So really Evade and Sprint add skill to a degree. The skill to keep Halo from becoming “First shoot first Kill”. It allows you or anyone else to get away from harm, think, plan, and perhaps defeat there enemy.

If you are the offender and skilled you will kill them regardless.
if you are the offender and skilled and you can’t kill them…Maybe you aren’t skilled

If you are on the defensive and you die still, You need to think again
If you are on the defensive and you kill your attacker…You are a HERO

So, As I will just say

SLAM DUNK, Hole in one, Check Mate, Point, Flag Captured, bomb armed, territory controlled, spree, Perfection, and GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Puts on glasses

Deal with it.

Yeah erhm… what about the map issue?.. Check…

I’d much rather walk fast, walking super slow and sprinting is not my style.

I also miss small maps like Guardian, Lockout, etc. If they have a playlist with no sprint and alot of small maps i’ll be uber happy in Halo 4.

Double pummeling and runing away like a coward, that’s all I see that sprint adds.

  • it lets people circumnavigate the map faster
    Better map control
    Saving ones self
Tactical thinking (distraction, lure, bait etc.)
    Ninja-ing
    Helping teamates faster
    Farther jumps
The ability to kill OP humans in infection
    The easier distruction of campers

@tsassi can you quote your post in here from the thread “Sprint-players-vs-Anti-Sprint-players–A-Study-on-Skill”. Post nr 54. It was pretty beast tbh. Get a little discussion going yew kneeeew

This post is full of so much fail. from the message to the delivery…just bad

If you were pro or even skilled you would know how horrible of an idea chasing is, so there goes your tracking them down argument.

People say “who sees who first” all the time. I laugh at this because if the game had higher movement speed and responsive strafe, landing a perfect 4 or 5 shot on a skilled opponent takes skill and a skilled opponent can easily come back from one or two shots down with skilled movements and precise aiming. And if they are more than 2 or 3 shots down they placed themselves in a poor position and deserve to die.

and these last 4 points you make are so simplistic it does even begin to tell an accurate tale of how sprint works in game.
