What does "old" Mark VI armor imply?

Hey guys, I hope you’re having a great day!

Even though I wished they’d show more (pretty much sums up the whole conference), in general I did enjoy the Halo Infinite trailer.

I do have one concern though. Since they are going back to the roots in regards to the Spartan armor, what does that mean for the other Spartans?

  • They won’t throw away the Infinity, so the Spartan IVs will probably stay. - Even though the squad mechanic is debatable I doubt they would throw it away entirely since 4-player coop is a huge plus and finally seeing Blue Team in action was one of Halo 5’s merits. Hence, the Spartan IIs will probably stay. - My conclusion: Every other armor has to be tuned according to the “old” Mark VI. Blue Team and Spartan IVs will definitely not look like they do in Halo 5. I personally think they’ll give Spartan IIs the same armor (with a different number of course). For Spartan IVs, they’ll probably reinvent “classic” armor (i.e. EVA, huge difference between Halo Reach and Halo 5) and invent new armor.
The former points were focused on Spartans, but what about all the other new art directions we have seen in Halo 4 and 5? Will the new Covenant (or maybe Banished?) look be replaced as well? How will the Prometheans look like? What about the Battle Rifle? Is this new art direction driven by the general vision of going back to the roots? And if so, what does that mean in terms of gameplay (Clambering and Thrusters)?

It’s way too soon to know for sure, but I’d like to hear the opinions of other Halo fans and maybe get more insight. I’ll definitely miss the new Mark VI look, but maybe I was a minority in that regard.

Considering it said Gen III mk VI on the bootup sequence I’m assuming it’s a new set of armor.

In halo 3-4 we had the gen 1 mk VI (Although… yeah you know)
In halo 5 master chief is assumed to have the gen II mk VI armor.

I’ll miss the Gen II Mk VI too. I wasn’t a fan of a lot of the art style changes, but Chief’s armour wasn’t one of them. I just wish it had been Mk VII armour, rather than the poor explanation of nanomachines, that was given outside of the game, no less.

Whatever happens with the rest of the look of the game, I at least hope it’s explained well. Chief’s Gen II Mk VI was damaged by Locke, and may not be able to be repaired under the situation. So he needs to use his old, now upgraded to Gen III, Gen I Mk IV armour. Not sure what the reasoning could be for every other Spartan.
