What Does It Mean to be A Fan? (Rhetorical Q)

I see posts everywhere saying people are fans because they like halo and accept this change, I see others saying those people are “fanboys”. But Often the term “fan” is misinterpreted. A “fan” comes from the word “Fancy”, not Fanatic like some people think. When someone Fancy’s something, it means they like it because of what it is specifically. The term “fanboy” makes no sense because people are called that when people only love Halo because its Halo. Its impossible to determine someone “fancy’s” Halo overall because people think it means their a fanatic of Halo when the context is completely wrong. I can say I am a “fan” of Halo 2 and 3 because of its core and simple mechanics, I “fancy” that style of Halo. Now people can be a “fan” of Halo because of the story because they “fancy” the story of it. But people, being a fan means you Fancy a way something is, not what the generality is. Unless the term “fanboy” means “Fanatic boy”, the term “fanboy” makes no sense in context. A real Halo “fan” doesn’t like Halo just because its Halo, a real halo “Fan” can only like a specific way of Halo. That’s the true meaning of a “fan”.

You just answered your own question.

In that context I “fancy” the universe over the MP mechanics, the story and lore is much more in depth and interesting than the MP experience could ever hope to be, IMHO

It was a rhetorical question.

Exactly. People really dont understand what the term “fan” really means.
