As of now, if you’re on an Xbox you’ll need gold. Not sure about PC but I’ve heard the PC players don’t need gold.
Think Apex Legends, Fortnite, COD Warzone, Vigor, WarFrame, etc. There’s plenty of precedent for what a Free to play game is on Xbox Live. You’ll need a gold membership.

Are you saying it might only be free to play for PC players? That’s not what they have said though, I’m curious how they will make it possible to be free to play on xbox if Microsoft wants that gold income

It’ll be the same as CoverMyMeds stated. There are free to play games on Xbox Live Gold like Warframe, Apex etc. Halo will be the same.

I am not too familiar with other games than Halo to be honest so I don’t quite know how it works with these other titles, but is it like a separate title to download you mean? Meaning it will only make a difference for those who don’t want to buy the games campaign? For those who buy the whole game like they usually do it will be the same price in total?

I don’t quite know how these other games work but I think I get it. So it wont be free to play, rather free to buy right. In which case those who get the whole game with the campaign wont save anything from it? Thank you for making it clearer, I was really confused by this, mostly it seems because I’m not very updated in other games or how they work.

Yes. If you buy the campaign you pay one price for that. The multiplayer will be free, so you could just get the multiplayer without paying. You will need Xbox Live Gold though.

Gotcha, thank you. I can’t complain about this though because it’s just the way it’s always been for me eitherway, sounds like a smart way to get a bigger population though

Yes. I personally think the free to play multiplayer is a very smart move. It was very profitable for Call of Duty when Warzone was released free. It’s definitely a way to get the population up, and if it’s good, even better imo.
Is supposed to the xbox live gold help us to have better servers, haha well that’s what

Microsoft needs to get rid of gold altogether. If Halo Infinite Multiplayer will need Gold to play on Xbox but not PC, the fans would riot. And, the Series X is not in a good position considering that the game is releasing in 2021, so if online was free that could be the silver bullet of next generation.
