What Do You Want to See in TU1?

Seeing as 343 themselves have stated that they will be Title Updating Halo 4 much more frequently than other Halo titles, I was just wondering which features you, the Community, would like to see in the first and subsequents TUs.

I had a think and came up with a couple already:

GAMETYPE ADDITIONS:
[/li]- Flood: Allow Flood to drive vehicles

  • Flood: Allow Flood to carry weapons
  • CTF: Give the option to make the flag droppable
  • CTF: Give the option to disable auto-pickup
  • Oddball: Give the option to disable auto-pickup
  • CTF: Give the option to enable proximity return
  • Oddball: Give the option to turn off throwing
  • CTF: Bring back 1-flag!

TRAIT OPTION ADDITIONS:

  • Give the option to turn off Sprint
  • Give the option to enable no bleedthrough
  • Give the option to change various features of AAs such as duration, power, distance travelled
  • Give the option to turn off grenade indicators
  • Give the option to turn off assassination animations

OTHER ADDITIONS:

  • Add SpOps and Campaign Theatre
  • Option to disable Join In Progress for matchmaking searches
  • Race and Assault added as either variants or separate gametypes, akin to “Action Sack” in Reach
  • Add Campaign scoring

I want to see a Halo game.

But, in all seriousness I would like to see Customs having more options. Custom Games seem to have gotten the shaft this time around, and it’s somewhat saddening.

I would also like to see Assault some how make a return. :confused:

Other than that, I don’t have too many complaints that can really be fixed.

I would also like Action Sack to be re-added. However, not that abomination of an Action Sack that Reach had. Something more akin to Halo 3’s with gametypes that had a point. Hockey and Haloball are the only reasons that I have received Quit Bans.

Ranked playlists.

Less OP weapons in personal ordinance drops (seriously who thought calling in rocket launchers, binary rifles, and snipers is balanced).

More playlists that disable ordinance drops. Like regular slayer or regular BTB.

Dropping flag and juggling the flag. For some reason we can throw oddball but not the flag?!

DMR nerf, it is already the most used weapon in matchmaking by far, and will be the most used at Dallas, it should be a 6 shot kill.

ADD SWAT
-Make it so that in one game mode it is all BR and in the next its is Carbine ad DMR

Add Elimination-style Playlist

Add Classic Playlist

Add Customization Bloom like you said you would for 'Reach

Add Invasion
-Add in maps thet can really set an invasion syle atmosphere.

imho,Just look at OmahaBeach for DoD or Cold War for Battlefiled BC2

SpOps and Campaign theater, for sure. I actually started a thread of my own to support that feature specifically. Sorry for the hijack, but for those interested, the thread is here.

It’s more people requesting things they would like implemented later after 343i confirmed that it is certainly possible to make huge changes in a fashion similar to the Battlefield Updates.

It’s not as much of an update, as the addition of a few things from my stand point.

Custom game options added, particularly regarding CTF and Flood gametypes.

Missing gametypes added, like Race, Assault, VIP, Juggernaut, etc.

A simple skill based ranking system added, to be used in a few playlists. Think playlist ranks in H3, but based on w/l.

Campaign and Spartan Ops added to theater.

Ability to render dynamic lighting on forge maps added to theater. Currently theater just shows the forge pieces with no dynamic lighting.

Improvements to the matchmaking system to prevent games starting without full teams and to prevent joining matches near the end.

Option to disable joining matches already in progress for matchmaking searches.

Further killcam improvements.

Tweaks to personal ordnance.

If they had to nerf it i’d rather they just reduced the RoF or something.

Assault, VIP, Race, Territories, Headhunter and Stockpile to return.
The ability to turn off sprint in customs.
The ability to disable auto flag/oddball pick up in customs.

There’s a difference though. Battlefield most likely earned all the money for a TU from those quick level packs. Halo 4 only has a season pass at the moment. Mass Effect made all its TU process money from support packages, Minecraft most likely got its TU money from the skin packs.

I know they are 2 different engines but still,I do not want to download 1gb+ every update.

You can’t simply ask for a small update. The more changes in a patch the bigger the data. Each change in Battlefield 3 creates huge changes, most likely changes to the engine, that requires large amounts of data.

This is actually a really good post I hadn’t thought of alot of these. Adding them to OP now :slight_smile:

But Halo 4 will also have Spartan Ops, and probably a few more goodies. Then, throw in Avatar Items and the like as well.

And, as for Minecraft the game was intent on being updated since before it was released on the Marketplace. And, honestly I doubt a great number of people actually buy the Skin Packs. Everyone on my friend’s list are penny pinchers and go with the trial packs.

Also, the Battlefield TU was pre-level pack if I’m correct or whatever you want to call them.

Then, consider that Halo is a product of Microsoft and thus has very deep pockets. Microsoft will do anything for their “Flag Ship Franchise” I believe if it begins to falter.
