What do YOU want to see in Halo 4?

Hey, these suggestions were taken from an old Bungie thread that was originally created by me for fans to suggest ideas to improve Halo: Reach, but with the highly anticipated Halo 4 coming up we should think of how we want it to turn out. This is also being put on the Bungie forums and both will be updated with new given ideas daily.

I’ll start off with the stuff I already came up with or gathered. Some of this stuff may relate to Reach because it’s from the old ‘suggest ideas to improve Halo: Reach’ thread.

FORGE
Instant clear whole map of all objects button (I’m sick and tired of spending ages clearing maps to make my own)
Copy, cut and paste multiple objects features
Undo and redo features
DON’T MAKE ALL OTHER MAPS APART FROM ONE MAP TOTALLY USELESS FOR FORGE (Complete lack of forgeable objects in the other maps, like the Forge World situation)
Group object feature (you group them together and can lock them together)
Ability to save groups of objects (For example: You made a pirate ship, grouped it and saved the group, and then found the group in another map, bought it (it costs as much as all the items in the group) and set it down in the new map. This way you don’t have to keep remaking things over and over again)
Making shade turrets weapons, rather than vehicles (Adds more flexibility in forging objects)
The ability to change the physics of all turrets (so we can put them slightly angled/in the air/built into the ground/all of these)
Trees, Bushes, Groups of trees/bushes
Civilian Vehicles (that means ALL of the ones featured in firefight and the campaign, and maybe more?)
Flamethrowers, Firebomb Grenades and Spike Grenades (just for Forge and Custom Games, because some awesome game variants on Halo 3 were completely based around fire)
Chain-link fences (or anything that lets bullets through but not people)
Snap-to-fit fences and bridges - bridges snap onto other bridges at the right angle and the same with fences, which also can snap onto the sides of bridges (able to be turned on and off)
Falcons with front-mounted burst machine guns (like in the campaign) but with seats on them that don’t have extra machine guns. Normal falcons change name to ‘transport falcons’.
Transport falcons with grenade launchers on the side (again, like in the campaign).
Pilotable Phantoms
Pilotable Pelicans
Drivable and placeable Elephants (Seriously, Bungie, why did you take them out?)
Driveable and placeable Boats
Driveable and placeable Anti-air wraiths
Useable and placable Anti-air cannons
A useable and placeable human turret to be a rival to the shade turret
Pallets on Forge World
Ability to make groups of things float
NPC placement (with the ability to change their teams)
Skins for forgeable objects
Vehicle editing (make your own vehicle out of parts and place it in Forge - sort of like Banjo-Kazooie N&B)
The ability to change the gravity in certain areas (for example, an invisible box with everything inside it floating around as it is at 25% gravity)
More scenery items to make civilian buildings
The ability to make custom firefight maps from editing the available ones.
Smoke grenades
Nail guns
One sandbox-like pallet to work with
Day/night option
Weather or fog effects
The ability to change structure items’ textures (so they can look like rubble, ice, urban metal, wood, ect.)
Add more flexibility to any objects spawn times on forge - such as allowing initial spawn times past three minutes (perhaps to 10?)
The ability to make a weapon/item spawn once and never come back after being picked up

FIREFIGHT
ODST map remakes
Add leaderboards based on rounds survived and scoring
Remove timer from matchmaking and make it about survival like in ODST
Remove roundly weapon drops and add a currency system to buy guns and ammo
The ability to buy over-shield and active camo or any other equipment for one time use by using said currency system

CAMPAIGN
Return to a sandbox feel as much as possible
Add leaderboards for both scoring and speedruns
Bring back obtainable skulls like in Halo 2, 3, and CEA or audiologs like ODST
Enemies should include Forerunner AI monitors in various forms like in Halo 2, flood, or anything new up 343i creative sleeve
More challenging ‘Legendary’ mode

THEATER
Works fully for all modes (Mp, Firefight, Campaign)
HD rendering system we pay for similar to bungie pro
Bring back party mode

DLC IDEAS:
Spin-off campaign (just like Joe’s Adventures from Mafia 2 and Undead Nightmare for Read Dead Redemption)
New missions
A mission where you pilot a pelican
A massive battle mission

First, I’m going to say that I prefer Halo 1-3 over Halo Reach in most every way. I thought the game was a disservice to the series. I’m not a big fan of MLG so it’s not about making it for tryhards, but adding competitive elements to the game would increase longevity for everyone as people will have gaols to reach. This includes bringing back a ranking system and adding leaderboards to things like campaign and firefight. Below is a more comprehensive list of things I would like to see in Halo 4.

GAMEPLAY
+remove AAs or revert them to a limited or one time use equipment
+remove sprint and fall damage. Halo 2/3 movement physics preferred
+bring back timed powerups or something like it to matchmaking
+make it so you don’t automatically drop a dual wielding gun when switching weapons
+nerf frags and let them bounce
+let stickies have a slow explosion time, but once your stuck you can’t avoid it
+add utility grenade to affect vision or equipment usage
+improve the scoping function
+consider adding higher ammo counts to weapons where you see fit

CAMPAIGN
+return to a sandbox feel as much as possible
+add leaderboards for both scoring and speedruns :slight_smile:
+bring back obtainable skulls like in Halo 2, 3, and CEA or audiologs like ODST
+enemies should include Forerunner AI monitors in various forms like in Halo 2, flood, or anything new up 343i creative sleeve
+don’t go easy on us. it’s been a while since campaign has felt like a challenge (halo 2 legendary ftw)

Remakes of maps from previous games - 3 to 4 on launch (not forged, but actually remastered)

Improved sound fx. For example, Battlefield 3’s sounds are incredible.

IN-GAME GENRERAL GAMEPLAY
MUCH MORE LIKE HALO 3 AND MUCH LESS LIKE HALO: REACH
A new protagonist
The ability to hijack a shade turret
The ability to kick somebody after betrayal available ALWAYS after EVERY betrayal (somebody kept betraying me constantly and I never got the option - I killed him ONCE and got booted)
Improve draw distance in splitscreen and in system link
The ability to play as a brute in appropriate games
The ability to use different armours for brutes just like the elites
Improved matchmaking/hosting server system

Note: Could Phantoms and Pelicans be used in epic wars in invasion? A (pilot-able) phantom could be on the side of the Covenant and a (pilot-able) pelican could be on the side of the UNSC. Just a thought.

I think alot of these would be great for DLC (please don’t make them really expensive though).

Any more ideas that I think are good and not unbalanced will be added to this.

Bungie’s game ‘Halo Reach’ was and is great, and I still love playing it.
I still think that we need to make sure that 343 industries doesn’t mess up Halo 4.

The more users that reply to this, the more likely a 343i guy will see it and hopefully find it interesting and therefore the more likely we get what we want in the coming game… providing that someone important enough ends up seeing it.

I noticed that the “Post 1 thing…” thread has led most users to pretty much express all their thoughts on the topic of Halo 4. I think you would be best to also copy and paste your ideas there, but I will do my best to spread the word. I have a thread going on bungie.net that is a hot topic right now so hopefully I will be able to add new ideas shortly.

What should happen:

Less armoury items becuse they are pretty much a waste of memory and they dont add anything to the game.

Custom games and Forge customization, less Firefight customization.

Best of all, keep the gameplay like halo.

I want to see the DLC maps get played. I’m sick of playing Big Team Battle and always getting Forge Maps. Hey, Halo: Reach, why did I spend all that money on those DLC maps I never get to play!

I’d also like to see Covenant and Human walls, doors, etc etc for Forge. It’d be nice to make a Covenant base and a Human base instead of Forerunner bases.
