What do you want to be able to turn off (options)?

Please 343i listen to your community and give us a variety of options to turn things off, some of us don’t like. For me it would be really important to turn off hit markers and, if in the game, the “plop” sound (headshot) and hit sound like in H5. I don’t know how much work it is to give us this options but it would make me really happy!

The weird blood splatter. If they dont do it properly and have the splatter cover the ground and it’s just the colored mist then it’s just weird and pointless.

I like this idea, I’m really hoping for a lowered crosshair option too, If I have to play centered I will cry, and I don’t like crying

Turn off during custom games you mean? Or in the actual playlists of the multiplayer? If you mean in the actual multiplayer, it would be a disadvantage to turn off the hit markers. In custom games it would be fine, as well as in campaign.

For the actual multiplayer of the game itself though, everything and anything that won’t impact the gameplay and serve as a negative consequence to the player. Stuff like turning off medals, announcer muting, spartan chatter, hud opacity, hud placement, hud size, hud appearance on damage or off altogether, hud color, hud styles, reticle color, reticle offset, service tag color on/off.

Taking that a step even FURTHER…it would be a cool idea to implement a feature where you can actually turn off the red vs blue settings if desired in playlists like slayer, team arena etc. So enemies can have a health indicator at a good opacity setting you can adjust, and everyone has their actual spartan custom colors showing in the game. I hate to say it, but kinda like how destiny does it. (No I’m not ASKING for destiny…a game which I don’t even play today) Maybe a tiny highlight of enemy names or outlines, something not game breaking… where you still need to see the enemy before seeing a tiny bit of shoulder armor makes their entire name pop up and shield/health indicator.

I think that last one would be kinda awesome. The option to still have the classic red vs blue team, all while finally having main playlists showing our customized spartan of we desire it. If it makes the game more difficult because the entire enemy team is dark colored Spartans than hey it’s on us to change it back.

It would be hella cool to unlock sound packs for the game and be able to optionally choose stuff like…shield regeneration sounds, spartan chatter voices if spartan chatter is in the game… weapon sounds, throwback packs where the announcer says some stuff in his old style idk like just go crazy with it. The more unlockables, the more player investment and time a player puts into playing. More customization adds to the fun. It’s all part of the fun as long as nothing is breaking the game…and as long as it’s not something that isn’t practical. Like…nothing that would add months to the already delayed game. Just simple stuff if…it can at all be seen as simple. I don’t have any game development background so I couldn’t even begin to say what could practically be done as far as optional toggles and additions.

Sorry if some of this went off topic

Option to shut off? First and foremost hit-markers in single player, especially if they come with sound effects! Oh goth I hate those with a passion! H5 sound fx was so terribly high pitched as well!

I agree fully, some of those would be great if you could toggle. Though I wish they thought of that back when ODST came out. That game was just downright annoying with it’s sound effects. Honestly, I wouldn’t personally turn off any of those specific options, especially not hit markers. But it would be great to be given choice, especially with a PC release on launch.

Hitmarkers because they seem unnecessary in Halo Infinite. If I can’t do that, I won’t complain

Hit markers , sprint / clamber , smart scope , silly skins.
Pizza skins and the like completely break the immersion for me.

Everything.

Option to turn on or off the blood splatter on the walls and the option to turn on or off gore.

This. I also want the ability to turn off crossplay, I would also like the ability to select input choice in matchmaking too.

I’d like to turn off those ugly bright yellow shield recharge hexagons that show up around the edges of the screen. They’re very distracting and they ability to tune it down or turn it off completely would be very nice.

Option Toggles are going to make or break this game for long time fans and those who are new.
Here are the big ones for many people.

  • Custom skins. Whether it is weapon skins or over the top armor add on’s / skins. The ability to turn these off is what would make or break the feeling and immersion of classic halo. Some people just want the normal weapons and basic color palette Spartans because it is easier on the eyes, keeps the feel of the game, and t oan extent gives you a visual advantage in competitive games because there is less for your eyes to take in. - Hit markers. Hit markers appeal to a minority of brand new gamers who need the direct hit feedback But halo in the past and present has had amazing hit feedback in the reactions of enemies alone and halo has kept tradition of keeping the players field of view clean and uncluttered with mess and useless information. - Blood and gore. As the game is rated T for teen instead of M for mature like past titles there has been a distinct lack of blood that is worrying fans. What little is in the game does not even stick to the ground. Make this a toggle in the settings or a startup menu option before you open the game for the first time. - Weapons. The new pistol and shotgun which 343i already confirmed would be replacing the classic magnum and shotty have been a hot topic as of late and i would say with the clear focus on customization 343i hinted to earlier on in development, adding a menu where you can pick which variant of weapons you want to use would solve everyones problem with the new bland weapons shown, as well each would have their respective sound design so you could wield a Halo CE shotgun with a Halo 3 ODST suppressed SMG as a secondary. - Ability to turn sprint on and off. Classic halo did not have sprint and instead made good level design and turned up base movement speed, They used man canons, teleporters and strategic vehicle placement to allow players to traverse large distances on large maps. Having the ability to turn off sprint/ toggle off the animation/ getting rid of the animation/ raising base movement speed/ gamemodes with sprint and those without. Those all could be valid solutions to a bland mechanic that has become an excuse for developers to make half bad level design and overly rely on one mechanic.

Absolute agreement on every point brother, toggle options may definitely make or break Halo Infinite for classic and new fans. But more specifically in regards to the last bullet point, I have an opinion/suggestion that may be similar to the idea of classic halo being available.

I was thinking if it would be possible for 343 to perhaps create two separate playlists in matchmaking/multiplayer.

Simple as put, one playlist with abilities and one playlist that doesn’t have abilities. That way, it can appease to classic players and new players alike.

But as I can imagine, there may be a whole lot of complications with overall map design if they were to take that route. They would literally have to create map specific maps that are designed for the player mechanics in each playlist. And I know player mechanics are one of the main things that originally defined Halo too. But hopefully some like that can be in Infinite or hopefully a toggle option like that can at least be present in the campaign. I was hoping to suggest an idea that might potentially balance things out for classic and new players lol.

Ive sat on that idea for a long time but it is tricky to determine at the moment bc not only would the playlist be separated by input based matchmaking which is a MUST but then it would be separated further by ability or not. effectively separating the playerbase into 4ths before even going into actual gametypes like infection and slayer and party modes. Perhaps they could do weekly trade offs, where one week its classic and the next its what we saw in the trailer with the semi advanced mobility and sprint. or perhaps they could make your idea work and integrate it into the matchmaking menu system, like a menu option where you can switch fast in between classic gameplay and modern gameplay and each modes respectively. a big part of whether it could work or not is making transitions from gamemode to gamemode as easily as possible as to keep it from being tedious after a week of playing.

I’d like to turn off the HUD or customize it with what I want to stay or go away.
And, of course it’d be great to turn on or off the flashlight.

Input-Based Matchmaking seems to be the direction 343 is heading for crossplay. They are launching it in MCC at some point this year, and uh, alongside crossplay and eventually M&KB support for Xbox…

I’m excited for crossplay.

And I like hitmarkers. God I feel so out of place in this thread.Edit: I would like to add that it would make sense for both crossplay and hitmarkers to be toggle-able.

And I like hitmarkers. God I feel so out of place in this thread. In Bungie’s Halo you didn’t need hitmarkers because they cared about how enemies act when they get hit, they cared about how it looks when they get hit. Blood spread on the ground and luminous shields, bullets that fly away when you hit a hunter or the elite hitting his head back and so on. Hitmarkers break this immersion completely, because all you’re looking at is the hitmarker and you’re waiting until the red X says “yes you killed this enemy, move on to the next”. And how should a Spartan HUD know that the bullet has hit? Is there a hitcamera in the Bluetooth connected bullet or is there a hitsensor in the Bluetooth connected warthog? Or is both in a Bluetooth grenade? Hit markers is so COD and not Halo it’s what 343 did to be like COD and get COD people to Halo. If I can toggle it off in Infinite i’ll do it and i’ll be super happy with it. I’m Sorry I’m still upset they brought hitmarkers to Halo, I’m breaking my keyboard now!

I dont mind if there’s a turn off options, but if i dont want to sprint or something like that i’ll just dont press the buttom.
