Halo 4 added crucial things like lock and magnets, essential for good Forge-making, but what do you think they will/should bring new to the Guardians Forge Mode?
I don’t Forge a whole lot, but one thing that would be nice to have is Covenant-themed construction pieces. We’ve had Forerunner and Human stuff for a long time so I think it’d be a good way to make Forge fresh again. Plus, people who are good at forging maps would have an opportunity to make some good classic Covenant-themed recreations.
Seeing as how we’re in next gen I don’t understand why we can’'t have a map editor. Far Cry does it and even allows for the placement of AI, animals and enemies. Hell they had it on last gen. That and people have been asking for weather/time of day options for a long time now.
Scarabs.
- Custom editable callouts.- Size editable light bridges (ala how you can change a kill wall boundary size).- UNSC, Forerunner, Covenant, Flood buldings, blocks and decoration.- Weather options (grass, snowy, desert, rain).- Time of day options.- Motion paths that can be applied to any block or scenery piece that can then be used in conjunction with scripting and buttons to create fully-functional elevators/lifts.- More buttons/consoles to fit more varied map design (UNSC WAC console, Forerunner holo-pad, Covenant holo-pad).- More foliage options (vines, bushes, sheets of grass so that we can add some visual texture to otherwise flat grass terrain pieces).- Placeable particle emitters so that waterfalls and ambient fog can be easily added to the scene.- Placeable sound emitters to easily add ambience to the scene.- Placeable dynamic water (these would come in sheets of 1x1 all the way to 10x10) which would ripple and react to explosions, vehicles driving through it, etc.- More triggers that react to different input (amount of damage taken, how fast an object passes through it, detect a list of buttons pressed in sequence in proximity)
Just some things off the top of my head.

This this, oh and more of this ^^^^^
I want firefight back with the ability to customize AI on the battlefield!
60fps in 4 players split screen.

343, give this man a batch of cookies, now!
A Sandbox remake.
Massive, empty canvases are cool and all, but the structure that Sandbox had should come back IMO. An empty skybox, but a ground floor and a basement to the ground floor.
It may be unrealistic, but what I’d love is a remake of Sandbox, Forge World, and the forge map from H2A (I forget the name…) for a blank canvas.
Gimme spawnable Pelicans, Elephants, Phantoms, and add some AI pl0x.
Forge is at it’s capacity… I want this;
MackJames117; we already have a map editor. We need a map creator.
As I posted in in another thread…
> On top of everything in Halo 2 Anniversary’s Forge mode…
>
> - Skybox maps from every multiplayer map (including DLC) and Campaign mission- Forge palettes matching the architecture, textures, and style of the corresponding levels- Set pieces like corpses, gondolas, Phantoms, wrecked Phantoms, laptops, signs, Covenant crates, etc.- Generating lighting on a toggle with automatic lighting generation when saving the map- Water blocks with editable dimensions and proper water physics and underwater effects like in Halo 3- More realistic and practical visual effects like night, snow, rain, and fog, as well as sound effects- Light bridges and detailed pieces of architecture from corresponding levels- Decals and particles like bullet holes, scorch marks, smoke, fire (that does does damage), and blood- Placeable waterfalls with and without mist and foam at the bottom, grass pieces, and more trees!- Objects with normal physics actually interact with the environment after being placed- Every single weapon, vehicle, and piece of equipment that is available in the Campaign- Many more versatile terrain pieces and explosives!!- An option to make objects not solid to put them in the background for better performance (and fun minigames)- A group object option to be able to duplicate and move grouped objects (real grav lift rocket ships, anyone?)- Human and Covenant ammo crates with weapons inside as well as ammo packs- More advanced scripting, gametype options (this falls into custom games), and a much higher object count
> Yeah, this list is essentially Far Cry without the bad gameplay, AI placement, terrain editing, or time of day options.
well new pieces that AREN’T the ones from reach, for a start. mirrored pieces were good, but now we need more. not get rid of old ones, just more. i also thought that you could literally change the appearance of a piece, the same way you change it’s team colour, so you could have human, covenant and forerunner, perhaps two variants of each ie halo 4 human and halo mcc human (concrete doesnt really suit the space map im sorry to say) and rusty hallo 3 style forerunner with the tron halo 4 style variants, then covenant and… i dunno some other kind of covenant
Halo 4 magnets was crap ! But the new light system was nice ! I would like to change the weather (rain, fog…) and the time of the day in the new forge. And more objects to place on forge.

Holy mother of Halo! Fantastic ideas, Majatek.

I just hope with the light system that it happens more quickly, sometimes it takes a very long time to change from Forge mode to player.
I think it would be really cool to be able to spawn flood bio mass, like off of the isolation map in halo 3.
On top of that the ability to customize your sky box to have different elements from different maps, for example I could start with a blank sky-box, add in some sentinels flying around then I could have a library/other forerunner building in the back ground. Another example, I could have hornets and banshees flying around with a night time snowy forest background.
Another thing that would be nice is the ability to stretch objects.
Heres some other things I would like:
- place able bodies (would look good with infection maps IMO)
- sliding doors
- custom turrets (you could for example have a grenade turret.)
- auto turrets like in halo 4
- AI spawns
- A larger vehicle pallet (scarabs, elephants and pelicans )
- more scripting settings like objectives for campian styled maps
- effects like fire and plasma fire
- civilian vehicles (like the ones in the halo 2 campian)
- scripts for gondolas/elevators
- more terrain options
- organic covenant objects (walls and ceiling pieces at least)
edit:
Also the ability to add in music to your maps.
They should add the ability to put AI in there. You can test out maps, or you can just have a lot of fun fooling around with more possibilities.
