What Do You Want In Halo 4?

Hello again Halo Community! I am re-purposing my old thread again making it more geared to small and subtle changes/preferences so it could be implemented in the final build or added in a title update if there is a need.

Now I’m not making this just for myself, I want anyone who reads this to say something they feel should be in the game/shouldn’t be changed or otherwise needs tweaked.

I’m going to start off with betrayals, I have seen too many posts in the matchmaking section on this. Betrayals in my opinion are a integral part of Halo and cannot change. It prevents/punishes bad behavior and Halo to me is the random accidental betrayal splatter with a hog/destroyed banshee parts splattering you. That said…

The booting system needs a serious re-vamp, a VERY serious one. I can accidentally kill a guy with a tank shell on the other side of a map and get insta-booted before it even says I killed a teammate but then there are guys my friends play with and betray left right and center for a sniper and get to play on… Something is broken there.

Double credit weekends over jackpots… And maybe community events like what we saw in Halo 3.

A true classic playlist representing both Halo 2 and 3, it would be nice if we could have two for small team slayer and BTB but from the sounds of it 343i wants to keep the number of playlists low and as far away from how Reach turned out. Which brings me to this…

I don’t ever want to see the community divided between vanilla and TU again… It divides the playlist population down way too much and in my opinion is just not good.

I would also personally like to ask for the return of Action Sack, possibly make it part of a community playlist. And obviously have a bunch of the old game types from H3 and some new ones… One suggestion I can think of would be a full on race gametype with a race track… cought And Sumo Grande cough

This goes without saying and probably wouldn’t really able to effectively happen until next gen console… But a way to stop cheaters/hackers. I started playing Halo 3 multiplayer first and I never saw 10% of the BS I see in Reach… Seriously, I know some people are good enough to seem like they’re cheating but not at the frequency I see in Reach, and also stop the darn black screen trick where everything spawns again.

Possibly allow us to choose our respawns, either through a game to game basis. Such as if I have a friend camping some place mid-field and I want to spawn more close to base, allow me to choose that option. I’m not talking about physically choosing where I spawn though.

Also, if there is a broslayer gametypes don’t make their first spawn point be on a teammate… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been sneaking around ready to destroy an enemy tank only to have my buddy show the enemy where I am.

That’s all I can think of at this hour… I’m leaving my previous thread below for some of it is still valid and I think deserves a glance if you really care about Halo’s multiplayer.

The follow may not be a “must have” but is something I would like to be in/see Halo 4:
[/li]
[/li]- Classic playlist of 5-6 man team to accommodate a Social Slayer/BTB in one (343i said they wish to streamline H4’s matchmaking)

  • Some neat gametypes such as Spartants vs Predetors with use of active camo and Promethean vision.
  • A more efficient booting system such as my idea here.
  • Map discounts over a period of time similar to Halo 3 to encourage people to buy them.
  • There’s no easy way to say it but… I want better maps than Reach. I have a new thread dedicated to this problem that I see.
  • Do away with jackpots and implement double EXP again like you had in Halo 3, and maybe do something similar in the spartan point department if it doesn’t overpower it too much.
  • More Spartan Lasers AND a laser that more closely resembles Halo 3. Reach’s laser is nothing compared to H3. I’ve survived direct lasers before, that sould not be.
  • Reduce sniper damage to vehicles. Its way too OP against vehicle targets in Reach.
  • Propper vehicle physics for the warthog, the Reach’s helium hog is way too bouncy on bumps.
  • More forge objects with different colour schemes OR the ability to change textures and colours for example you have a wall with 3 or more colours schemes being Forerunner gray, UNSC metalic, Covanent purple and maybe weathered rust metal and for texture options you would have Covenant smooth, UNSC plated armour, Forerunner design.
  • Occasional free DLC. I know it’s a lot to ask for but it shows great respect for the community and raises the bar for for the competition, whether its a map or a spartan ops mission I don’t mind. Also maybe add a sweepstakes lottery to players who play in a specialized playlist for a weekend for those who don’t have any DLC maps for the chance to win DLC map packs. Or just play the game in general for a special weekend event. The point of it is to generate more positive community activity while giving to the community.

For now that’s all I got, it’s late and way too hot to think… I’m gonna go play some minecraft, but before I go please reach and objectively think and comment/suggest and I will add your posts in point-form suggestions. Other than that lets keep this alive!

I agree with the action sack idea. Halo 3’s was much better. Also Jetpacks can be balanced, I assure you.

Get rid of jetpack, Join-In-Progress, loadouts, perks, and ordinance drops will be maing it more balanced. Have either DMR or BR starts in every slayer gametype. It would improve the game from what it currently is.

> I agree with the action sack idea. Halo 3’s was much better. Also Jetpacks can be balanced, I assure you.

I’m not afraid of the Jetpack, it has it can be easily balanced.

To be succesful I feel like Halo 4 will need a better ranking system the Halo 3’s or Reach’s but from what I’ve heard their making the ranking into something pritty cool.

  • Bring back double EXP weekend gametypes, which is when you’ll be able to play infection. Infection should not be a permanent gametype.

  • 4sk BR

> Firstly I’m going to say we need a version of Action Sack that more closely resembles Halo 3’s. Reaches leaves more to be desired, in 3’s I pretty much loved all the game types.
>
> Secondly I’m hoping to see the armour abilities to replace the equipment in Halo 3. If Jetpack returns it should be an equivalent to the grav lift in H3, and same goes for the power drain, ect. And with that, I’m not to keen on all abilities being obtainable through loadouts, there should be some considered power abilities such as grav lift(jetpack) and power drain.
>
> But I would prefer the some to be team supportive. Ultimately I would prefer no jetpack, I would much prefer a grav lift variation to aid in coordinating a fast rush on the enemy that has higher ground. But none the less if jetpack returns it needs some tweaking depending on how it’s implemented.

I’m totally agree with you.

Do you mean to say you want changes to base player traits to increase damage and other traits as you level? If so I’m strongly against that. #1 thing that makes Halo so Halo is that generally all players spawn on equal terms. Reach messed with that a bit but it was still equal to a degree.

> - the armor abilities from halo reach

Some are coming and some are not. No Armour Lock thankfully, other than that, it’s mostly new abilities for us.

> To be succesful I feel like Halo 4 will need a better ranking system the Halo 3’s or Reach’s but from what I’ve heard their making the ranking into something pritty cool.

It looks like they’re trying to make a much more effective ranking/true skill system which is nice.

Dude, you couldn’t have addressed this in the two threads you plugged in the OP? I fail to see the usefulness of a thread such as this with 3 months left on the clock.

> Get rid of jetpack, Join-In-Progress, loadouts, perks, and ordinance drops will be maing it more balanced. Have either DMR or BR starts in every slayer gametype. It would improve the game from what it currently is.

In that case why bother buying Halo 4 just play Halo 3 or Reach with no AAs…

I think 343i already has a list of things that they feel must be in halo 4 to make it perfect. Since we don’t have the list we can’t be sure that what we want isn’t already on it. We know that there are some things that are on the list that some people don’t want (Jet Pack), and there are some thing that are not on the list that some people want (1-50 ranks).

343i is turning Bungie’s game into their game. That means that it’s not going to be totally like Bungie’s game, for better or worse. From this point on, comparing Halo 4 and it’s successors to any previous Halo game is just going to get tougher, to the point that by the time Halo 6 is where Halo 4 is now no one will be talking about Reach or Halo 3 or any of the others, and those of us that started with CE will be shouted down by the new crowd that cut their teeth on Reach.

Bungie got it right when they called the first Halo game Combat Evolved.

These wish list threads are OK but the decisions are primarily based upon what their prodigious and finely detailed statistics tell them about what’s working and what isn’t.

> Get rid of jetpack, Join-In-Progress, loadouts, perks, and ordinance drops will be maing it more balanced. Have either DMR or BR starts in every slayer gametype. It would improve the game from what it currently is.

I would like a chance to play the game first and find out if it’s balanced or not.

If something is truly not balanced they’ll change it. If you just don’t like it, they won’t.

Well I got to say OP, good and reasonable “must haves”, that I can fully agree with and support.
Halo needs a classic playlist, it is in dire demand of better, really good maps for a change and lets be honest, the booting system needs a complete overhaul. Double Exp is supperior to jackpots in every way, first of all the jackpot is random and does reward quitters/cheaters just as much as legit players. I know many legit players who never quit but never had a bonus either, unfair to say the least.
Double exp rewards everyone who plays equally, it’s concentrated over weekends when we have most of our free time from school/work, and it even allows for temporal weekly playlists

> I agree with the action sack idea. Halo 3’s was much better. Also Jetpacks can be balanced, I assure you.

If it allows you only a short jump burst, similar to a jump pack, then I’ll be fine.

Then there would be no reason to call it the jet pack. Really all they need to do is decrease the vertical distance and increase horizontal strafing so it’s just shooting someone who’s hard to avoid and they’re only twice your height instead of them hiding in giant cliffs and behind rocks that should not be possible to get to.

okay as following as well as you said:
343 faviourites (same as bungie favs)
MVP at the end of the game should get some more points for it
MM im just excited about (looks amazing)
forge (looks amazing)

Meh. Guess you’re right.

Sooo you want Halo 2?

I completely agree with you on double XP weekends, those were a lot of fun
