I want Halo 4’s BTB maps to blow us away like Halo 3’s did.
I’d like to see an Elephant or a driveable Scarab in one of Halo 4’s BTB maps. The Elephant on Sandtrap in H3 was epic. Heck, Sandtrap itself was epic. What’s not cool about a base on wheels? Or one that you can even fly?
Everyone knows that Halo 3 had the best Big Team Battle maps. I think the reason for this was because they were so big and the carnage felt like all out war. There was lots of space, lots of cover, lots of vehicles, and less spawn killing (in my experiences).
Reach’s BTB maps seemed smaller, less balanced, and only seemed fun when I had a sniper rifle or a banshee. They also had too many unusable areas, for example: half of Boneyard was rarely even used.
What kind of BTB maps do you want to have in Halo 4?

A drivable Scarab would be great, but the map would have to be designed around it (lots of cover and verticality to protect vehicles and for players to board the Scarab)
Does no one remember Waterworks, Containment, Headlong, or Uplift? Halo 3’s BTB maps were nice, but I prefer Halo 2’s
I agree with you, but Reach’s BTB maps were ruined by the infinite range of the DMR, and the way Reach handled vehicle health. Boneyard is awesome, btw
Scarabs in multiplayer would be -Yoinking!- sweet, you’d need people onboard manning turrents and -Yoink- to defend it it would be much better than elephants
Maps like Sandtrap (along with the elephant) and Standoff would be great. Add in symmetrical maps like Valhalla and BTB maps would be great. This game needs inspiration from 2 and 3 not Reach.
Sure Valhalla was a pretty good map, but following up after Relic, Containment, Headlong, Waterworks, and Colossus, Halo 3’s BTB left me unimpressed. All there really was was Valhalla, Sandtrap, and Avalanche. And Avalanche and Sandtraps weren’t really impressive maps.
Now I do want Halo 4’s BTB to be amazing. But Halo 3’s is a bad example.
Better maps: In the Reach the maps were either Forge World or copy/paste from campaign. If Highlands was alittle bigger it would have been a wonderful BTB map. Considering Halo 4’s maps will all be unique it should help alot.
Vehicles: In Reach most just seemed weaker. Being able to take them out easy with a DMR didnt help either. I would like if Halo 4’s BTB maps have a good mix of them. Theres no point to having the Gauss Hog in game if it doesnt appear in multiplayer. Also put the right kind of vehicle on a map. Not every map should have a Banshee or Tank.
