What do YOU want from TU?

I can’t play Halo 4 anymore because it makes me want to cut my wrists open so I decided to create this thread.

343 must realise sooner or later that Halo 4 has some serious flaws that need fixing. I can’t discuss these things in a polite manner anymore because I can’t stand 343s laziness. Luckily I don’t have to rant. This guy has created an amazing thread where he politely explains some (if not all) flaws in Halo 4 and how to fix them. Support and bump that thread because if 343 doesn’t make it sticky then WE WILL!

I hope you took your time and enjoyed reading that thread. Now I want YOU to make your own TU wishlist. Write 2-5 TU updates you want to see in TU which is hopefully coming soon.

My wishlist:

  1. DMR/LR/Boltshot nerf (DMR to 6sk or lower RoF, LR lower RoF when scoped, charged Boltshot should only take your shields out).
  2. Carbine buff (Carbine to 7sk)
  3. Vehicle health buff (When everyone has PP and 2 PGs vehicles must be stronger).

The LR shouldn’t be nerfed lol Just lol What is wrong with the LR? It’s not hitscan, takes more skill to use than the DMR, isn’t held back by recoil or weak bullet damage. It has range but it has two modes of firing but is tricky to use at first. It’s balanced, more so than the other 3 -Yoinking!- rifles.

Still, i’d love your reasoning on that because i can agree the DMR needs to be adjusted as of now, it’s the easiest gun to use with no drawbacks whatsoever. You can’t say it’s just like the CE pistol because of two major differences; the CE pistol didn’t have this much aim assist and wasn’t hitscan (no shouldn’t -Yoinking!- debate this because this fact).

Carbine does need to be to 7 shot kill as it’s pretty weak. Lower aim assist isn’t doing any favors, so a fast ROF isn’t reason enough to put you’re self at a disadvantage. The only time a Carbine user will win if the target is terrible/already weak or both. I laugh every a Carbine user tries hard, only to realize they dying; again and again against even the BR lol.

I can go either way with the BR being a 4shot or a 5 shot. Though it’s spread doesn’t need to be random if we have guns like the DMR existing.

Boltshot should have it’s range reduced to Halo 3 levels (point blank range) AND requiring you to hold down the trigger to a certain point. Charge shot takes the entire clip AND patch the Boltshot instant reload glitch (that crap is broken).

Automatics are fine, leave them alone as they are as powerful but beaten at range.

To make the Plasma Pistol a more viable weapon and to make the commendation for Covenant Loadout Mastery easier: Buff the damage of the Plasma Pistols regular shots to how it was in Halo Reach. I don’t say many good things about Reach but it did do some things right in what is otherwise an abysmal MP experience.

Add in custom game options that let Flood carry other weapons, Spectator Mode (even a simple, offline version will do for competitive play), the options for toggling instant respawn, sprint, static weapon drops, auto pick up on Flag/Oddball.

The ability to play Spartan Ops offline.

Also, audio level and subtitle timing fix for campaign, and a fix for the DLC being account locked issue.

  • Buff the Carbine.
  • Nerf the Bolt-shot.
  • Add more playlists (Big team objective, Race, Grifball ect ect)
  • Forger Maps to be implemented soon
  • More Custom Game options
  • Tone down ordinance (Seriously: BTB = A clusterf**k of power weapons D:)

Apart from that though I am content. A skill system is on it’s way.

Bloom on the dmr. Give it a skill gap. Right now it is just spam until you get a kill.
Slight nerf to the boltshot.
Nerf resupply in dominion! It rewards you for camping in your base.
Nerf the complainers.

Spartan Ops Patch:

-Theater
-Scoring
-Skulls
-Armor Abilities behave like they do in Campaign, rather than how they do in Multiplayer.
-The ability to watch the CGI cutscenes in a party.

Didn’t mention the DMR nerfs but more bloom isn’t the way to go. Reduce it’s ROF and add recoil to it instead. Bloom will just slow the game down, this was proven in Reach already so let’s not get a repeat of that.

Tapping your finger in rhythm isn’t a skill. Though the way the DMR is now, it doesn’t take much skill either but at the same time, let’s not butcher it with bloom.

A ROF nerf (a slight one at that) will allow it to not ping players down range as fast. Recoil will make sure you have to adjust your aim as you fire (as per the BR) and could poetentially make you less accurate if you don’t compensate.

If not recoil, lower the aim assist to where it’s harder to use. The aim assist on the Carbine is what the DMR should have; not the other way around IMO.

Personally I’d like to see the following:

DMR Nerf or BR Buff

Increased vehicle health and speed (speed to counter sprint, since 343 didn’t think about that)

Better map balance (Exile, shiver)

Boltshot nerf (shield pop only ability, and one shot once shields are down at the same range you can one shot through shields now)

Simple gameplay updates (fix button glitches, fix the no-team spawn in during flood, etc.)

Updated and expanded custom game settings.

Killcams to be brought back.

Fixed tooltips on game-initiated static ordnance drops (stop telling me those plasma grenades are a spartan laser!)

Implement the three unused forge maps into online play for variety.

Nerf certain commendations (e.g. plasma pistol kills commendation, LULZ)

Get the file browser online! (should be done at any point.)

Allow “flag juggling” to return, and turn off automatic flag pickup. (personal preference, but I think a lot of people will agree with this one.)

Switch vehicles around where necessary (Mantis on exile instead of scorpion, scorpions on ragnarok instead of mantis’, for example.)

I know there’s other stuff, but that’s really all I can think of at the moment.

The DMR is wrecking the multiplayer experience in this game, and I hope it gets knocked down in the first title update. Its rather insignificant amount of reticle bloom combined with the removal of scope-out when taking damage has just ballooned the issue of crossmapping in Halo 4 to a new degree.

I know some players complained about reticle bloom in Halo: Reach but it served a purpose, especially with the DMR. It made it so players more than a certain distance away from each other couldn’t simply spam the trigger as fast as possible to win a gunfight, so it forced them to time their shots a little bit and be more methodical and accurate with each one in order to come out alive. Now its just like BANGBANGBANGBANGBBANG GURK every time, and combined with the new addition of movement slowdown when being shot (awful) there are many moments now when I can’t even make it to safety around a corner a short distance away before being sniped down with a DMR.

For that matter shields in general seem like they deplete much too quickly, across the board.

Crossmapping is a rampant problem in Halo 4 and again, I attribute this mainly to the DMR and its ridiculous accuracy. The thing is like a diet sniper rifle that spawns with you. This is the worst on Ragnarok, where a nice, big open map is shrunk down massively in a gameplay regard because everyone just bunkers down behind a rock and zaps people on the other side of the map with the DMR until their team wins. Its supposed to be an accurate ranged weapon, great, just a) DEFINITELY slow down how quickly the reticle bloom resets to normal and b) MAYBE slightly slow down its rate of fire, too.

Players should be afraid to leave cover and scout the map because an enemy might be hiding with the sniper rifle or the binary rifle, not because they’re turtling at their base and picking everyone off with a loadout weapon.

Biggest wish is a smoother online exp. I am getting waaaaay to many laggy rubber band matches for a AAA title. After that some minor balance tweaks and some more modes.

Bloom and Flinch? Take in consideration that you would have to deal with both and those two factors neuter the DMR too much.

We can’t get out of scope, so we flinch as a trade off. I don’t think giving the DMR bloom is going to make anyone happy…except if you liked Reach, which by the way, is slower a game (by far).

Also, what’s with the vehicle physics in this game? Every time I drive a warthog is like playing Moon Buggy Simulator 2012. Swipe a small rock and I go rolling multiple times. Same thing with the ghost, that thing flips like nuts.

Definitely a step backwards from Halo: Reach’s vehicle physics. I’m not sure if this is something easily fixed with a title update but I hope so. Weigh the things down more or something.

Get rid of instant respawn in all team gametypes.

Remove boltshot as a secondary. (in the loadouts)

Flinch is a balance feature that works in theory during a gunfight where you’re already returning fire, not when someone is camping half a mile away and picks you off in five headshots before you could even find them. They don’t flinch because they’re not taking damage.

That’s why the bloom needs to be tweaked to some degree. The window given to players to respond and either return fire or seek cover is pathetically small, and combined with movement slowdown its even worse.

Even then I don’t think flinch works nearly as well to balance out the gameplay as the previous feature that forced players out of scope when taking damage did.

I do think that the charged-boltshot takes away from the close-range excitement - either you’re screwed or not (and most of the time, I’m the guy with the boltshot lol)

I think they should stop making so many weapons available, and focus on perfecting combat. Uhhmm… 1.Assault Rifle - 2.Suppressor - 3.Storm Rifle… okay so if ANYONE EVER has had the Storm or Suppressor in their loadout please speak up!

I think that if you’re close range with AR, and have a jump on a guy with BR or DMR then you should have the win… this whole boltshot thing is bringing me down :confused:

Also, even though I use it, I HATE the DMR. It’s rediculously strong. I love melee/AR combat and the DMR prevents my fun.

btw, I wasn’t even here to complain about this… I’m here to complain about the community file share not being available. It’s irritating. I never realized how much more I use Forge, etc. over EVERYTHING else.

  • Campaign theater.
  • Equivalent to ‘Bungie Pro’.
  • Spartan Ops bugs fixes.
  • SMG.
  • Clan system, evolved from Halo 2.
  • Clan playlist so no ubercompetitiveness.
  • Slow down the DMR and Boltshot RoF.
  • Buff the Plasma Pistol.
  • SMG.
  • Speed up the Splaser RoF.
  • Plasma rifle.
  • More fulfilling Forge World.
  • Edit monitor armour.
  • SMG?
  • Lone Wolves, Rumble Pit and Splockets playlist!
  • Multi Team.
  • And I also want the SMG, if that wasn’t clear.
  • MAKE THE F***ING LOCUS AND DEADEYE UNLOCKABLE, -Yoink!-!
  • Bring back Custom Games.
  • Fix the damn file browser.

343 said they were planning to add shiploads to the TU, so I hope my wishes weren’t too far - fetched.
