What do you want for the mcc in 2023?

I thought I’d create a forum post for people to share what they want to see happen in the MCC in the upcoming year. The MCC is in a pretty great state as it is, especially now that steam workshop has released. That being said, there are a few things that could be incorporated to improve the MCC as a whole. Here’s some of what i think could be introduced next year, outside if bug fixes:

  • Background menus: it would be really nice to have the original backgrounds from each game as options. Some new menu options would be nice as well. It would also be nice if the bug that resets backgrounds is fixed.

  • Having the option to have interchanging armor pieces for the halo reach elites. There could be some really cool armor combos made there.

  • A form of music player/customization incorporated into the game. I really want the ability to listen to the osts in the game and select what songs play in the menu’s.

  • Some update to the exchange that allows older content to be available alongside newer content. I still want to get the avalanche skin for the halo 3 sniper.

  • Allow some way to play halo 2 and ce with 4 players in an official capacity.

  • Include more skulls into each game, especially halo ce. And on the topic of skulls, it would be cool if there was a skull that allowed for constant third person view in the campaigns.

  • Bring campaign armor pieces into multiplayer for reach and halo 2. Some specific examples being the red visor for reach and the arbiter armor set for 2 and 3.

  • More updates for forge

  • More updates for firefight

I just want 2 things from MCC and it would be perfect for me.

  1. Split screen on PC so I can finally play co-op campaign with my wife.

  2. Steam Deck / Linux anti-cheat support.

Seems like #1 has been given up on by 343, but #2 seems to be close.

Controller button configuration like Halo Infinite has. Right now, you can only choose between a premade subset compared to Infinite’s.

Some say I could tweak the controller settings from the Xbox Accessories menu, and I can. The problem is those settings are system wide and are always active. I just want to change the settings used while I’m playing the game, so I can switch between the 2 games and not have any issues.

Give us a setting/option to enable party matching so we don’t have to match a team when we play social 4v4.

  • Fix to the Halo 2 Classic soundtrack/sound effects
  • Change to the Halo 2 Anniversary energy sword in the campaign to match the one seen in the multiplayer
  • Add an option to turn the HUD invisible (basically disabling the health bar, the ammo indicator and motion tracker)
  • Bring back original weapon icons for Halo CE Classic
  • Add an option to skip cortana cutscenes in Halo 3 campaign (Seriously, the impared movement mid-mission have always been a major pain when replaying the title. Such an implementation would be a dream come true)
  • Introduce enemy skins for the Halo Campaings (instead of weapon/armor coating, maybe grunts, jackals and other enemy textures? That could be interesting!)

Address the following:

Co-Op Crashing Constantly
Easy Anti-Cheat (Steam Deck Compatibility)
Ban System Changes
Double XP Weekends
The Future of Microtransactions
Players Deleting Maps
Press X to “Party Up” feature
Forge Playlist / Playlist update in general

also, a small thing, but having a universal way to skip cutscenes. in most campaigns, you press a button, then need to press “y,” while in others you can just press any button to skip the cutscene.

More crossplay campaign co-op
Red reach visor
That’s really it for me.

I would enjoy a QoL change to H2’s health damage indicator to be similar to other titles instead of making the whole screen flash red. It makes swat noticeable more jarring than other titles.

I’d love to see Halo 2’s original Post Game Carnage Report back, along with the ability to see the final score and server chosen in the PGCR.

Also, I really believe we need a real ranked re-haul; give us the ability to search multiple ranked playlists at once just like in social, give us custom skins for earning rank 25, and special nameplates for reaching rank 50. Also we need to leave the ranked rotational hoppers in the full list permanently along with the aforementioned feature of mixtape matchmaking for ranked just like we have the Match Composer now for social. These QoL features combined with things like Party Matchmaking, rank displayed in lobby, and decreasing the amount of wins it takes to reach a 50 would drastically increase player count back to the ranked modes again.

I’ve got a few things. Basically I want to ensure the longevity of the classic games along with some fixes.

  • Offline bots for custom games
  • Fix the bug that resets the customized menu background on Xbox
  • Add option to disable post-match line-up screen
  • Ability to granularly install/uninstall Anniversary content
  • Release server binaries and support actual dedicated community servers
  • Fix the remaining small graphical and audio glitches in the campaigns

And while more of a long-shot than any of the above, it’d be really cool to see a physical copy release (like a Definitive/Deluxe/Special edition) that included all of the updates on disc,
