Some sort of mythical swords. There were three in the set and Bungie have used the first two.

I hadn’t thought about it until someone else said it but I hope she goes with Weapon.
If not I really hope it’s something interesting and not Cortana. But how many perfect names could she have for herself that she felt like she needed to ask permission to use?
My real question is - how long do you think it will take for them to reveal it? I don’t mean how long until they release the DLC but how far into it. Will it take until the end or will the first thing Chief says in the opening scene be, ‘Beth, status’?

Part of the Weapon’s narrative was deciding she wasn’t Cortana.
It would be a bit of backflip to then call herself that same name.

343 isn’t clever or thoughtful enough to be able to pick a name that has a deeper meaning based on past characters of the franchise. I wouldn’t put it past them to name her ‘Cortana’ again because they want to reboot her and undo her death. That’s why it’s the same voice actress.
It’s the same voice actress because The Weapon is one of the twenty-plus brainscans that she had conducted to make an intrusion A.I. program, of which we know three of their names - Cortana, Kalmiya, and Weapon.
They are all based off of Dr. Halsey so they share her voice and plenty of her mannerisms.

Yes I’m aware of the narrative behind those A.I.'s being based off Dr. Halsey. Doesn’t mean that had to have the same voice. And Weapon had literally no mannerisms of Halsey. She was very upbeat, positive, happy and inquisitive which I wouldn’t call traits of Halsey.
The Weapon was a young A.I. who was inexperienced and was purposefully not informed of many things to prevent possible failure of her mission.
She is what I think represents Dr. Halsey when she was in her twenties.
Cortana is far more experienced and was given the entirety of Human history and knowledge as she was meant to be a long-lasting program and one that was highly useful.
She is what I think represents Dr. Halsey in her thirties.
Dr. Halsey meanwhile has gone through all of her life experiences and the betrayals of ONI. She is aged and made wiser because of her experiences, all while being far more skeptical.
Weapon is optimistic and cheery.
Cortana is idealist and sassy.
Halsey is pragmatic and more sullen.
Jen Taylor did WONDERFULLY in portraying what is essentially the same voice all while making sure that they each had their own inflection to reflect this.
You hear Weapon speak and it sounds like Cortana but fresh off the programming board.
You hear Cotana and know that she has had ten years of A.I. experience to make her how she is.
You hear Dr. Halsey and can hear both how her voice box is aged to her sixties but also hear her dreariness and skepticism in her voice.
Props to Jen Taylor to having such range with that voice of hers.

I feel like it was all but confirmed to be “Cortana” by the context. I’d love to be wrong about this, though-she isn’t the same character and shouldn’t have the same name.
