Wasn’t it kind of heavily implied she’s going with Cortana at the end of the game?
Didn’t she kind of look at chief for, “permission” for her chosen name?
Would she have done it if she chose Kim or Bridget?

I think that was more along the lines of “May I continue to not self-terminate?” and “Is it okay that I choose my own name?”
After rewatching the cutscene, I have come to believe the line, “I think I have the perfect one” is meant to insinuate she is keeping The Weapon as her name. Which I think I’d be cool with. Anything but Cortana.

I do like the idea of just “Weapon”. It’s blunt and like “Chief” - but the thing is she’s no longer just… A Weapon, y’know? She’s somebody.
My vote is still on Elizabeth.
As all Cortana-Model A.I.s are based on a brain and DNA scan of Dr. Catherine Elizabeth Halsey.
Catherine and Cortana both start with “C”.
Cortana and Catherine are both a bit sassy and analytical.
Meanwhile The Weapon is a bit more curious and blatantly optimistic, which is something both Catherine and Cortana doesn’t really show often.
And Elizabeth is a name that sounds like someone who is more innocent and friendly, which is great since she hasn’t committed atrocities the likes of Catherine or Cortana has.
Elizabeth could also be given a couple nicknames by characters.
Chief might call her as Elizabeth while Fernando might refer to her as “Lizzy” as a friendly nickname to add some character dialogue. But in situations where Fernando is stressed or annoyed by her, he might just call her the full name instead of the friendly nickname.
“Lizzy, I need you to give me control of the Pelican!”
“But Chief said-”
“Elizabeth! This is urgent!”
“Oh alright. *snap The helm is all yours Captain Esparza.”
“Thank you! Now . . . we need to get to the rendezvous point. Chief can handle his own up there, but we need to be ready. I get the feeling that he’s going to toppel another tower.”
Adds more emphasis to potential lines of dialogue.
Due to poor financial performance of the game, we’re going to see more forced marketing crossovers in the future. Therefore it’s only logical that her name will probably end up being Subway or McDonald’s.

It makes sense for her name to be Cortana that is basically who she is just before her and the Master Chief met

Cortana wasnt effectively a suicide bomber designed to defeat another her before she met chief.
Cortana and weapon have had very different life experiences so far and likely into the future.

Until they tell us or acknowledge it outright my bet is on it being Contessa. The description of the armor coating, Sunset Contessa, reads “An ONI codename now known only to Cortana.” …Plus, this changing her name thing is kinda sunsetting cortana’s particular character too so im just connecting what I can. Otherwise I think “Magoo” just might work.

I dont remember much about the campaign because it wasnt that good, but one thing i remember is being annoyed they named her joy. Maybe i missed something but it matches 343s dumb takes.

I like alot of the ideas here, joy is my vote though.
I would hate for her to be called cortana though, feels like a 360 on the entire story development, and feels damn lazy
