TSIA, what do you think will be the threat of the game? The UNSC (ONI specifically), Jul’s Covenant, Prometheans? This makes me wonder, as Master Chief has gone AWOL and the UNSC wants him back.
Covenant, prometheans, maybe insurrectionists, but I reckon it’ll be more to do with forerunners, since the game is called guardians.
Honestly I want the forerunners to be the main enemy, we’ve had 6 games now against the covenant so something a bit different now would be good. Halo 4 was ok but too much covenant and not enough forerunners.
My guess is that the Flood will return, as it has been foreshadowed on several occasions. We know that they’re still out there, and that humanity has yet to be tested for the Mantle. Having Halo 3 be the end of them would be wrong.
I want 343 to focus on Prometheans more not because they were amazing enemies it’s because they lack history and development in the games
In the Halo 2: Anniversary prologue you can see a hologram of the giant Forerunner bird of doom (possibly a war/sphinx) aboard the Arbiter’s ship.
Flood I hope, and I mean Prometheans were designed around fighting the flood so it would be cool to see them fight.
Also,if the flood do return, it would be awesome to see some flood weapons. Like an assault rifle with flood parts tangled around it (even if it is just for looks it would be cool)

[Notes from Intel. Officer who found the signal]‘Among the data packet, besides the aforementioned roster, there appeared to be some recordings. Apparently, and very unfortunately, the [-CLASSIFIED-] chose not to enter cryo-sleep, staying awake and sentencing himself to be on watch for anyone who might pick up the signal. Judging by the recording he appears to have been going mad, possible due to lack of human contact, at least I think he was…He was shown in multiple recordings running and shooting. Though there were no alarms and no procedure for threat assessment, we are not sure what to make of it; further investigation may be required.’

-[//Refer to ONI Files: H:E-5, H:E-6.] (Essentially; If you want to know more about The Flood, read Halo: Escalation issues 5 and 6, you wont be disappointed =3)
I really hope that it is the Flood vs Prometheans but en masse, and this time it is only Chief who can stop both from destroying the universe.
I think all of the above.
Jul’s Covenant strand will be the basic enemy throughout most of the game, while we explore more-black-than-gray ONI notions through Locke, then the Prometheans kick in and at the very end I expect the threat of the Flood to resurface (possibly as a cliffhanger ending, since I don’t know if we’ll get three enemy classes in the game).
Either way, this should be one heck of an interesting ride.

I think that’ll be the focus of Halo 6. There’s too much story to cover in Halo 5 before we can get there.
Flood surely fit in somewhere even if it’s just a slow trickle until the very end
Promethean Knights etc the primary antagonists with Juls covenant sprinkled in again, maybe some new Forerunner variant enemies as teased in the E3 CGI trailer
I see ONI as more of a threat narrative wise than engaged directly in gameplay, I find it difficult to see Chief engaging Spartan IVs in Halo 5 but it’s not like I know anything

I think that could be Master Chief’s new ship. With Chief AWOL he needs a ride. There is no way he fights that thing after the teaser trailer ends. The fight would end in a fraction of a second.
Halo Escalation teases the return of the Flood. Hopefully they are different and more interesting to fight.
It seems the Didact was composed. Maybe his intelligence remains and he can still lead the Promethean army. Hopefully they are greatly improved as an enemy.
We could fight Spartan IVs at some point. ONI seem like they could do anything.
Jul 'Mdama could win the Janus key conflict. Elites were always Halo’s best enemy and with Forerunner technology they could get better. Even if they don’t his faction probably won’t stop until they are all dead.
Something that’s attached to the string of a precursor puppet master…
