As of now we’ve finished the Forerunner Saga and Kilo Five Trilogy, which leads me to ask this question. What do you think the next book will focus on? I actually want a novel during the time of the Covenant before encountering us in 2525, possibly showing species joining the group. Where do you think the next book will take place?
I’d actually like one that tells thing from the modern insurrectionists point of view, since they seem to be a rather notable faction now in Escalation. I’d like the chance to tell their side of the story without having to be cast as terrorist bad guys for a game or comic.
While I think your idea is interesting, I think 343 is likely to push novels that affect the current narrative, not give us further background information on the previous conflict.
I wouldn’t mind a novel series focused on Ancient Humanity. Their history seems notably interesting.
The SIVs need more love.
There’s so much I want to know about their training, equipment, augmentations, lives and so much more.
And from there we could learn about other stuff like the Wargames simulator, the places where they’re posted, other characters that are involved with the program etc.
I’d really like a book like this so that the community’s opinion of the SIVs will improve.

So long as it’s not written by a certain author.

Why not? Don’t you want to be told about how bad the S-IVs, the UNSC and humanity in general (except for ONI) are? I’m sure we could have a Spartan commit suicide just to prove they’re partially honorable and heroic.
To quote a famous Sangheili proverb, “as the humans would say…”
Definitely not that author, provided you were mentioning a certain KT. If that was the case, then let me add to it by pleading with 343- for the love of humanity, please don’t hire KT ever again!
Normally, I’d say that I’d want a trilogy dedicated to showing the Covenant Empire breaking apart, as well as the further splintering of the Separatists and Loyalists. After all this time, though, I’m not sure if it would be a breath of fresh air or merely frustrating.

Oh no I definitely want more information on the SIVs, just not if it has to be written by KT.
One book I’ve always wanted is one that focuses on the Spartan-IIs adventures during the years of the Human-Covenant War. We’ve gotten a few stories from that period of time, but mostly it’s just kind of skipped over - and I think there’s probably some pretty good ones in there.
However, when I’m being realistic, I agree with UrbaneRocket495 in that I highly doubt 343i will be delving into past canon. As they seem to be pretty focused on pushing things towards more current events.
Sure a story about the ancient humans would be cool but they’ve played their part, well in my opinion anyway.
In the forerunner saga they were revealed to be the true inheritors of the mantle, which led into the flood and precursors and forerunners.
Maybe start anew. Perhaps more info on the S-IV’s would help the communities view point on them because we really don’t know all that much except that their training obviously wasn’t that strict because they’re really annoying…

We are only the true inheritors as long as the Precursors say we are, there is no guarantee that they wouldn’t make someone else the inheritors if they grew tired of us.
How about taking off with the ending of Primordium. Chakas searching for the Librarian leads to the reactivating of some Forerunner technologies, explaining the machine from the teaser, and possibly finding the last remnants of Forerunners who have exiled themselves, considering how the Iso-Didact felt when he ‘pulled the trigger’*.
Edit: *assuming they’re alive somewhere.
I can see 343i moving forward with the story and having the books reflect that.
But what I’d like to see is a novel about the battle for earth. From the start of halo 2 to the end of halo 3. That might be a bit lengthy so perhaps have it split up into a 2 or 3 part series.
If it’s more recent, it’ll more-than-likely be after Escalation.
What that’ll be about, I’m not entirely too sure. But a much more in-depth into Admiral Mattius Drake and the New Colonial Allegiance is a high possibility.
Stories that I’d like to see:
More on the Spartan IIs and IIIs during the covenant war - a collection of short stories would go well.
A focus on the insurrectionist movement - possibly from origins to current day. Could be done from the perspective of the current leadership trying to get an official history in place.
Where I think they will go - insurrectionists with covenant splinter groups working together and against each other, with the Spartans playing a relatively minor role.
I just want it all… Halo has so much lore and potential to expand that in my lifetime I will NEVER be able to know all about everything that is Halo. So much to learn and so little time to learn it. At least I’m not Cortana!
What I’d like:
- Details about what Blue Team is up to.
- Details about surviving Spartan-IIIs, specifically Gamma Company (most were off-planet when Onyx was “activated”)
- Greater details about the genesis and early years of the Spartan-IV program. Some specifics regarding their augmentations and abilties in relation to previous generations would be nice.
- Details concerning Sangheili and Jiralhanae fighting (as detailed in The Return). We’re starting to see this in Escalation, but I want more
- A story about the exploration of Installation 03 and the discovery of the Composer.
- A story about the exploration of other Halo Installations, maybe Installation 07. I really want to see one of these two Halo stories feature a Monitor.
Those are just a few I can think of at the moment.
I wouldn’t mind a novelization regarding the First Requiem Campaign set from Jul 'Mdama’s perspective.

How he got his forces would be nice too and how Gek lost an eye.
