What do you think of the new anniversary maps?

Personally, I think they are all fantastic, not just because of them being remakes of great maps but because of how great they are for Forging.

Since the beginning of Reach I was begging for a true forest map, and Ridgeline is really the perfect forest map anybody could ask for. The fact that you can even add your own trees is fantastic!

What are your thoughts about the maps? Which ones are your favorite?

Battle Creek. How a Halo map should be.

Unfortunatly, Anniversary Gametypes are terribly inaccurate.

Yes they are all excellent. Certain Affinity seems to have the style and feel of Halo in every one of these. Ridgeline has the fun vehicle mayhem and Solitary is just awesome. Solitary is my personal favorite when it comes to non vehicle maps.

I absolutely love Ridgeline and Headlong. They are my two new favorite maps. Usually i’m no good at sniping, but in these two maps, it is very common for me to go on sniping sprees. And don’t even get me started on the gauss hog. I’m just unstoppable. Not so found about High Noon, though. Just seems to easy to die in my opinion. It’s not too bad, though.

I love all of them, but Hang’em’high.
It was never a personal favorite pf mine to begin with.
Now that I’v played on a few times. I’m pretty bored of it.
Which sucks cause it just came out lol.

I really like them, still haven’t played on Headlong or Hang em’ High but they look great from forge fly-thrus.

loving them all, soo much fun

They’re all really good.
I mean, in general I haven’t liked Certain Affinity’s maps- the halo 2 ones were blah and the defiant was just sort of meh, but these are very well done. The additions make lots of sense.

Headlong, legendary map for BTB, but piss annoying when played with bloom; everyone likes staying crouched behind cover from a long distance for the accuracy boost.

Damnation, still as good as ever.

Battle Creek, still good in slayer, but CTF now sucks. Having 1 frag starts and losing the ability to hold 8 nades = extreme base camping. And you can’t throw the flag out of the base anymore…

Prisoner… it’s not a map for 4v4. It played best with 2v2.

Hange 'em High, never liked that map.

All the maps are “good”, but they don’t play the best in Aniv.Reach.

Personally, I think they’re decent for gameplay and as remakes, but they’re going to be more-or-less worthless for Forging.

Ridgeline didn’t deliver. We get five trees that are lit as if they were made of plastic, and that have random, useless rocks bolted onto them for no reason.

The rest of the maps have Forge World copypasta palettes, which don’t fit with the terrain, don’t fit with the other Forerunner geometry on the terrain, and have had nearly all of the most useful pieces removed. They aren’t cohesive and they aren’t particularly useful.

Once again, Certain Affinity added just what they needed for their variants, and then treated Forge like an afterthought by giving us a palette that’s been neutered – aesthetically and functionally – to near-total uselessness.

Ridgeline feels like it was made for DMRs. The weapons works far better on that map than on any default Reach variant. Add in how well the map flow suits vehicles, without making it hopeless for infantry, and you have my favourite map so far. The only problem is Armour Lock.

I think im love again!

They’re alright actually. Love Headlong.

Eh High Noon really shows me something: It’s not good map for online play and matches tend to drag out from what i’ve seen Reason and Pharm play. Because of the 3SK pistol, no one moves in the middle (which would be stupid if you did) instead everyone just hang around on the outside taking potshots. It’s turns team slayer into super BTB without the vehicles.

Prisoner’s spawns are weird, not sure if they match up with the original though if i hear one more person complain about having top control, i am going to use a Unrelenting Force and blast you off the Throat of the World itself! Otherwise, this map seems good for 1 V 1s and 2V2s. Anything bigger and it becomes a hectic.

Beaver Creek is fine IMO.

Headlong: Haven’t tried it out too much besides the time i spent with it in Halo 2.

Ridgeline: Lovely, i would want to see some good BTB teams duke it out in this pristine battlefield.

Damnation: No problems…yet. Everything seems fine, nitpickers will moan about the water though.

I do want to note that Jetpacks ruin these maps >.<. Not sure why 343 decided to have FFA Anniversary have other gametypes besides Ann. Makes much more sense to give players that want TU and lolAA Squad and BTB while the purists can enjoy FFA and Ann. TS.

Aside from Hang Em High, they’re all excellent and probably the best maps in Reach.

> Aside from Hang Em High, they’re all excellent and probably the best maps in Reach.

You are so very right. hang em high is only fun on 1 flag. The worst map of the bunch.
personally I think that all the remakes are better than the originals. They have a much nicer “flow”

I would have taken other maps instead of hangem high, like, Turf, Burial Mounds, Terminal, or Waterworks.

But i would also say that this is the best Halo Map pack ever.

Some low ceilings. Other than that I love them. Best map addition to a Halo game yet.

> But i would also say that this is the best Halo Map pack ever.

The only map pack I would say is close is Turf and Sanctuary. Two new classics in one map pack.

They’re ok. As good as the gameplay on them is I wish they would have even came out with a few more maps.

They are absolutely amazing.

If you don’t agree, then I pity you.
