What do you think of the MK VII?

What are your thoughts on the latest Mjolnir iteration, compared to the previous generations?

I personally think that it’s my favorite armor design by far, a perfect blend of the MK V and MKVI. And I much prefer it over the Gen 2 armor. I 343 did a good job of going for the semi classic design of the suits, bringing back the aspects of what made the armor iconic while updating them with a more modern approach.

Am I the only one who appreciates the design of them in general? I think it matches well with Reach’s design.

They look like they are wearing nappies.

Their “belt” piece is too thick.

Also, they don’t look quite in proportion. The thighs seem too thin ( maybe because of the “belt piece” ), then the armour around the lower legs / calves seems too bulky compared to the thighs.

It doesn’t seem to flow as sveltely as it should. Mark V as well.

I have other gripes, also with the Masterchief, but I’ll leave it, as no point. It is what it is.

I’m a big fan. Like you say, I think they have preserved the classic look while putting their own spin on it very nicely. It’s what I wear most of the time with some Mk V thrown in to re-live the glory days.

I like it, I think it fits well as a next generation of the Mark Armor variants, but I wish we still get Mark VI as a Armor core

I think the artist that 343 hired did a great job at coming up with what the Mark VII would logically look like after looking at the Mark V [B] and Mark VI designs of the Gen-1 era and then going off from there.

Theo Stylianides did a great job at designing the armor concepts for the Mark VII, Rakshasa, and even a Mark IV armor design. He may also be the mind behind the Mirage armor core design, though his concepts probably won’t be posted to ArtStation until after the season launches, so as to not spoil possible cosmetic options.

While the Mark IV armor he has drawn up was not used, the two helmets in his detailed concepts were used in the Paramount Halo TV Show for some members of Silver Team.

A massive leap in the right direction. Visually, I don’t have many problems with Infinite. Well, not counting some of the multiplayer armor. The alien armor should have more of a sheen to it, and the Banished physical architecture should look a little less chunky/less like Halo Wars 2 or RTS assets and have a slightly more varied color palette to be less repetitive. Not many things stand out as “off” off to top of my head, and that’s a good thing.

Visually, Infinite is a very good start to a new art direction for Halo.

I like it and would say it’s the ONLY new armor that looks good. I think the Yoroi, Eaglesteike, and Rakshasa look terrible. They don’t look like Spartan armor at all.

The Mark VII actually looks like Spartan armor, and as you said, it’s a nice progression on the V and VI.

Yoroi and Eaglestrike i give a pass since they are from “fractured worlds” so they are non-canon and therefore gives artists freedom to do whatever tf they want. kind of like the ancient greek inspired or medieval inspired armor in MCC (tho I know peeps don’t like them either, which is respectable ofc)

Rakshasa tho looks like glorified Marine armor, and that new armor that was teased (not the mirage one, that looks aight) looks like the nanite suit from crysis.

I think it’s a great iteration.

No complaints from me. There are a few things that aren’t to my taste, but the overall direction is good.

MKVII is my main! Cat ears, MKVII helmet, and optic gaming skin (and the eagle shoulder pieces but i forget what they are called lol)

I like the armor core well enough, and the Mark VII helmet in particular is genuinely in the top 5 helmets across the entire franchise for me.

i dont like it, partly because of how crap the cosmetics system is but also the design is just boring to me. doesn’t look new at all or even like an upgraded model, that goes for rest of infinite as well.

I like Mark VII’s core, it’s definitely the main one I use. But that’s probably because it has the most options, exp when it comes to armor coatings. I’d probably use Mark V [B] more if it had just more color options honestly… It’s so lacking in variety…

I wish it had more and better accessories though, for both helmets, waist and wrist… Currently Mark V [B] has the best options in that department. But even that Core could use more options… Like, more accessories that aren’t just bags for the waste…

A lot of the accessories for Mark VIII I can’t even identify what they ever are to be honest… They just looks like something someone made up out of the blue and said, yeah, that’ll do…

I really like it a lot. I think it fits so well with all of the non-gen 2 canon MJOLNIR iterations (however I also like gen 2) from an aesthetic standpoint. It’s hard for me to not have it equipped in game.

Thx for posting on the forums @the_co1e_train with all of the 343 hate, it’s nice to see a monitor posting!

It evokes a ‘good type’ of evolution where its new but looks like its the natural progression of the old.

I agree. I think Mk VII is one of the best mjolnir designs. I love the Mk IV from Halo Wars. Mk VI Gen 3 is really nice looking too.

I think they’ve done an amazing job with the cannon armor in Infinite. It’s too bad that some of those armors have been locked behind a paywall and dumb non cannon attachments exist that makes anything in this game look ridiculous and stupid.
