Well, in case you didn’t know there was a halo 4 bulletin where they explained the ranking system in halo 4. So I’d just like to see what you guys think about the new ranking system. My thoughts:It looks like they won’t have the ranking system they had in halo 3 in halo 4. I’m a casual player so I honestly don’t care if it’s there or not. The only thing that I didn’t like about the ranking system in halo 3 was how I’d get annoyed when my ranking was low, and I want to be able to play the game with out even thinking about my rank so I ended up only playing social playlists. But I’m not gonna be one of the people that say “oh you want a number next to your name? (insert name here) level 50, your welcome”. I understand how having a high rank made you feel a sense of accomplishment and I guess that’s what got a lot of people to play halo 3. So anyway… what do you think?
I like and dislike it at the same time. I’m not a fan of how they went about specializations.
The thing shown in the bulletin was just the progression system not the ranking system.

Like he said, that was only the Progression System. There’s some kind of Skill-based System too, but they just haven’t said anything about it yet. I’m thinking it’ll be in the next Bulletin. (Hopefully.)
I don’t mind it. I have been playing many games with out one over the years so its one of those things that its just there for me. Don’t really care about it.
I really liked the Halo 3 system. When you wanted to play seriously, you could jump into ranked where the outcome of your games would impact your skill level
If you wanted to relax, then the social playlist was there waiting, perfect!
I think the Reach system was too…‘relaxed’, it didn’t have the same competitive feeling fans came to know and love (or hate, depending on your stance)
I’m all for a nice ranked skill system in Halo 4, and hope yesterdays news was just for a ‘progression system’ and not so much a ‘ranking system’.
Meh…

As you can see, people like to use the term interchangably.
And let’s not even bring up TrueSkill into this.

Except Social Ranks had to be TU’d in and were only visible in the playlist you earned them in.
They were the red headed stepchild.

oh sorry i didnt know =/
Offers a lot to unlock and work for.
I think it’s a good idea, just wish loadouts were customizable from the begining, but eh.
Honestly the only thing that differentiates it from reach is the specializiation system, and a couple tweaks here and there.
A good ranking system is the last thing on their minds.

This…^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I really don’t know how to vote. Where is the don’t care option? I guess thats what I would choose.
I don’t care because it has no correlation to skill and it’s boring. I’ve never paid attention to any progressions system in any game. I play a lot more shooters than most. I consider myself a Halo vanguard if you will. I do good in halo games but can still bring in the damage when i play other shooters despite them not being like halo. Everything from Crysis 2, Homefront, CoD, Battlefield, and Reach. All have a progression system and they all have one thing in common: I barely pay attention to / even know / care what my rank is because it doesn’t matter.
When it doesn’t matter it just becomes a detailed way of just showing how much time you spent in a game and nothing more. I like Halo 3’s progression much better. Trueskill was integrated so it showed skill and you used exp to progress in whatever category of rank you were currently in. It not only displayed how much you played but how good you were.
I don’t get why there are no visible military emblems for the SR’s either. It’s rather dull now with just a SR 1 now. Like with reach and all other progression system I’ll be a ‘low level’ but still destroy everything. I have no intention to enlist for Halo 4. Don’t care about pointless stuff like armor and a few mods that I will never use.
I have no opinion since its a progression system you are talking about, and is not intended to reflect skill in anyway shape or form. Been that way since Halo: Reach.
Heck, you can even forge your way to Max rank if you want to(though I place bets that it people will probably not use it that way).
If you still want my opinion: At least it gives players a better incentive to play when compared to Reach. I just hope winning or completing a match doesn’t become a main source of income.
