what do you think about the multiplayer maps?

to me, they pretty much all suck.

This is why

Coliseum:
Sucks, because it is built like an MLG-map. Small, symetric, rocket, sniper. left and right runaway and a middle platform. Nobody wsnts MLG-maps in normal playlists.

Eden, Empire:
they are both quite the same. One sided building with an open part an a power weapon on the other side plus two bases. boring stuff. Actually they feel like fathom and the rig, i don’t see a (visual) difference.

Fathom:
sucks, because the area that is to hold is top middle, where you can get shot from 4 sides. The map has no area where a team can try to fight.

Plaza:
sucks, because there is no base or area where you could fight for. It feels like stupid run-around-until-you-find-soneone-somewhere.

regret:
Sucks, because it is the 1000000th remake of this map.

The rig:
sucks like Plaza

Altitude, Crossfire, Gambol, Orion, Prgasus, Trench, Trident:
Custom-Forge maps are nice, but they suck in matchmaking. Everybody knows that since Reach (where 16 of 20 maps where forged)

there is actually no map that could ever potentially get a “favorite classic” like midship or guardians or the pit

why do you like/dislike the maps?

I like the way the maps play but they miss a soul. They kinda feel generic except for Empire, Truth and Coliseum

I don’t like any of the maps either but more from a visual point of veiw, apart from regret and truth they just don’t seem to have variaty they are all the same dull SciFi industrial zone enviroment, he’s one if underwater and 1 is forerunner but appart from that it’s just the same.

What happened to the vivid grassy and colourful maps of Halo 3 where is the snow, the sand and the open air? I miss playing on pretty maps

And before you say warzone has them maps that’s all fair an good but I really don’t like warzone at all and arena shouldn’t be colourless because warzone exists.

I’ve only played Warzone but I really like the maps I’ve played so far.

Don’t particularly care about the map layout or anything. Don’t like how people are told where and when the power weapons spawn, that’s bs. Removes an element of having experience in noob v pro/veteran player battles.
Some maps come up way too frequently, either that or I’m unlucky and play on the same Warzone maps and Arena maps all the time.
Haven’t even been on all of them yet.

Maps are too SciFi, they push the whole Forerunner and futuristic humanity theme way too much. I want more covenant themed maps, or actual environments.
I want maps like Valhalla, or Bloodgultch. And in the case of inevitable DLC map packs, I want unique maps. The aesthetic is boring and gets old quick, this was not the case in H3, I’d care about what map we go on. Now I don’t, it’s just kill whatever’s near on whatever map.

I can’t really tell you since out of the dozen Team Arena games I played yesterday, 80% of the non-Breakout games I play were on Plaza. Anyone else feel like it has an overwhelming weight in map selection?

I’m not a fan of the current maps. Nearly every single map is just a standard ‘Facility’ type map. I miss the wide open, more natural maps such as Valhalla.

Nope most of my games have been on either Eden or Empire haha. In answer to OP’s question though so far I like them more time need to be spent though playing before coming to a final conclusion.

Maps like these should come out soon along with BTB. Which 343 did say should be brought in around 2 weeks after launch so hopefully not to long to wait.

Honestly they are terrible imo.

The maps are good.

I like regret, truth and plaza, the rest not so much. But the core game play for me makes up for the uninspiring maps

So 343 said in 2 weeks? That means Won’t come before Halo 6

The art direction for the new maps they release need to feel like halo 2, not halo 2 anniversary, like it came out of 2004 with today’s graphics. Not a cluster of designs and colors that make it feel like a ported cod map, halo5 gameplay feels so halo in that sense and the maps don’t. Coliseum was ok, OK at its peak.

All the old map designs are the best collesium is the best map IMO. The worst being orion which should just be deleted off the game.

Love them so far! Love the size and the flow.

Free dlc will add some diversity.

Matchmaking seems to really love plaza… like 6/10 game is plaza

Orion, truth, and regret, although the fuel rod ruins regret.

At least 343 nailed the combat of MP… now only if they can nail the maps down… hopefully a BTB playlist, and larger map diversity will be on its way soon.

For me that “soul” that i use to get from a lot of the earlier Halo maps was how Bungie would blend in just the right amount of an earthy touch mixed with all that tech and sci-fi but 343 has made it very clear to me at least that they are mostly going for only sci-fi feel. Also i noticed every single base or structure in every map has the same look, not in shape but in looks which could contribute to a lot of everything looking the same or at least to me.
