What do you think about the flood in hw2?

I just played the new hw2 dlc,“awakening the nightmare” and I’m really curious what you think about the flood so far, bad or good?

The flood to me is such an interesting concept, And I’m so happy 343 brought them back in the new hw2 dlc, I personally love them So far and I wanna know what you think.

I don’t like that the Ark did next to nothing to kill them, I think that is just illogical and lore breaking.

Also whilst cool, the Brutes fighting the Flood and getting all their goo on them, breathing in the vapour but NOT being infected also seems stupid to me, those two brothers should be so much biomass for the Flood right now…

I like the additional Flood units.

Not a huge fan of the idea. They don’t explain how the Flood survived, which is major. And they also don’t explain how the Flood gained enough intelligent biomass to be able to form an almost-complete Gravemind in just ~7 years. The lack of explanation of those points makes me think that ATN was developed with little-to-no regard for the events of Halo 3 or established lore.

Flood survival is easy to explain but the fact they didn’t give an explanation was rather dissapointing. However where it got all the biomass grow again that fast inside the quarantine is a harder question and does seem quite illogical.

Is it easy to explain? How would you explain it? I’ve heard plenty of speculations but nothing that sounds concrete to me.

So let’s presume that the unfinished halo did work and wiped away all beings with nervous system. But more importantly it didn’t just kill flood but it’s food also. However we know from the books that animal life did came back after the accident. Also I think we can be pretty certaim that the flood dust aka spores do not hold complex nervous system and can survive firing of the halo. So when animal life came back they got infected by spores an cd flood came back.

However it still doesn’t explain how could flood be so strong inside of the forerunner shield. Unless maybe it was just a base of operations where Flood could be safe from sentinels while taking more bodies and biomass somehow inside the shield. Okay part of the theory may not hold the water I admit but the flood coming back on Ark on itself isn’t something canon breaking imo.

The Flood overcame and turned to their side the defenses of every other Forerunner installation they encountered. Why not the Ark as well? Especially since with Tragic Solitude gone, I can’t imagine the Ark being at optimal Flood-combatting potential.

The part about the animals would be viable if Tragic Solitude had not erected an energy shield around High Charity and cleansed the surrounding Refugia of all flora and fauna.

Huh. I really should read that book. I guess they didn’t either.

Wasn’t in the book. It was in the HW2 Phoenix logs.
