What do you think about Grifball?

I personally like the new changes they made to it and it’s one of the playlist that takes no skill as I can from anywhere to 20 positive to 50+ positive which does wonders for my war games stats. I have yet not lost a game since it has been introduced in Halo 4. I do great in it, but what do you think of it?

The hit detection is still beyond awful.
I hate how it’s possible to get an assist when using the energy sword.

I like the passing mechanism, though.

Overall I think it’s a step forward.

I guess it’s only me that gets stuck with teammates that hammer away like the world is gonna end and kill me more than the enemy does.

I have never enjoyed Grifball.

I love that RvB spawned a game type, playlist and community for Grifball. It’s great to have more variety and things created direct from the community (historically) and then the developers produce a new playlist and game script for Halo 4.

Personally do I like playing Grifball? No thanks. It is just too host centric for me to play from Australia and I dislike the spawn killing and lack of variety in the game.

Pro version = fun, the other version is terrible. No rounds and instant pickup ftl.

I don’t mind it. The sword is too weak; with a bad connection you have no fun.

But its hit detection is better too. In Reach’s Grifball I couldn’t hit anyone with the grav hammer without doing some ‘both dies’ thing.

Halo 3 was a joke on connection.

Halo 4?

After my 250 sword kills and I put on the Grav hammer first game I got a killionaire.

I like it. I prefer Pro over the vanilla one, but still don’t mind it.

Kind of off topic, but I don’t like how 343i made it so that if you betray, or get betrayed, that it will say only “Betrayal”, and not “Betrayed” or “Betrayal” depending on the infraction.

Its pretty good i got one guy addicted to the gamemode its best to play with some friends though. There was one occasion where our opponents all ditched this one guy and we decided to go at him 1 at a time to give him a chance. though we did play monkey in the middle with him once or twice.

Gravity Hammer sounds weak.

I miss the explosions.

The inclusion of sprint wasn’t that bad, Grifball still plays well with it.

Passing the ball is cool and promotes teamwork.

Sword Lunge has been turned down.

I like Pro because its round based.

Maps actually look pretty cool. Props towards the creators.

As negative as it sounds grifball is perhaps the most overrated thing in all of gaming.

best gamemode ever…of all time

I don’t play it for the very reason that one could get killionaries and I seen +150 and +180 individual scores in taht game type. Should not be linked to your overall KD or be taken seriously.

I personally think that its one of those games types that people play just to try and get their hammer/sword numbers up. However it is fun, expecially if your teammates/opponets play as a team and dont hammer on one another. Which is often hard to do.

Grifball is pretty cool and it doesn’t afraid of anything.

To those of you that don’t like the “hit detection”, that is because there are shields active on base players in the current gametype(s). The shields cause the player to be knocked back from a hammer swing that would most likely otherwise kill the player. Hopefully an updated gametype without shields will be implemented in the near future to make the game more balanced.

Never liked Grifball solely because my hits never register, or I swing first but the other guy kills me anyways, or some other -Yoink- involving bad connection.

Fix these issues and I’d be willing to give it a chance.

  1. pro is the only good version, the other is crap but EVERYBODY picks the damn thing.

2.the sword lunge is broken, you clearly get a lunge kill sound BUT the -Yoink!- is able to kill you with the hammer EVERY time.

3.cant tell if you HAVE BEEN betrayed or if YOU did the betraying.

and 4. PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW! PEW!! PEW!!! WTF HAPPENED TO THE GRAV HAMMER SOUND OF WUH BAM. PEW PEW PEW PEW ALL GAME LONG GETS ANNOYING.

Love griffball, don’t get hit detection issues to often.

I’d like it better if Grif wouldn’t be able to Sword Block all the time, and stuck to the “Rock, Paper, Scissors” concept Grifball was when it was introduced. It made sense, and gave whoever was Grif a reason to step back and try to bait the swords into a hammer. Now, I feel like a good number of times, I’d rather use the hammer just to push him into a wall and kill from a distance, or stick to hitting him in the back.

I did enjoy the new ball passing feature. Made it awesome and gives players a reason to watch out for those trying to run by. Just need to get my teammates to learn to actually do that.

It took a step forward, but it took a step back at the same time to me. If they’d nerf Grif, it would be awesome.

1- Personal opinion.

  1. Sword is meant for Grif. Hammer is meant for everyone else. Unless you are flanking another player, it’s best not to have it out against a hammer. Been that way since it first came out.

3-“Betrayal”=You killed a teammate. “Betrayed”=Teammate killed you.

4- Meh.

I fired up Grifball two days ago and have been whimpering on the ground, clutching my knees to my body ever since.

I have latency issues as it is with other gametypes, but it’s even worse in Grifball, where split seconds decide whether who’s going to be flying across the map squealing.

That said, it’d be pretty damn fun if it wasn’t for the horrible lag.
