What do you REALLY want Halo 5 to be?

I think the useless general answer to that question would be, “I want Halo 5 to be Halo”. Not Call of Duty or Titanfall, but Halo. But what is Halo? Is it Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3? I know most people would cringe if I said Halo was Halo Reach. So what do you really want from Halo 5? Do you want a reskinned version of Halo 2 or Halo 3? If so, then play Halo MCC (hopefully the bugs get fixed). Otherwise you need to accept the fact that games change over time and will inevitably add new features that weren’t in the previous versions. A new game should be a new yet familiar experience. To me, I don’t care what Halo 5 is like compared to the previous versions or other games in the market. If it is fun and competitive, then it will be a game I enjoy playing.

I want it to be sprintless. That’s it.

Why?

For reasons that I’ve explained countless times in hundreds of threads over the past four years. It fundamentally breaks Halo’s gameplay and rebuilds everything and I mean everything from the ground up.

I want it to be exactly what I’ve seen so far

For me Halo is the universe created by Bungie and now 343, it has an unique lore, engine, physics and hit detection. Its has its own weapons that we are familiar with, arena as well as BTB maps, and fan favorite playlists.

Beyond that im ok with the formula being changed. I want Halo 5 to be fast, powerful, action packed and rewarding. I want it to feel like a real sci-fi shooter filled with scifi sound effects and abilities.

What is this “Halo’s gameplay” that you are so dearly holding onto? I’ve played causal games and was also a part of the competitive scene from Halo 3 until it died in Reach, so I understand both sides of sprint. If implemented properly and balanced out like they’ve shown with no shield regen, then it could be a working factor within the game.

Elites to be playable characters in multiplayer. If not matchmaking, at the very least in customs.

Local split screen 2-4 players (not like halo 4 forge on x360). Unfortunately new gen games are straying away from this. Hopefully its a feature in Halo 5 Guardians.

Find a way around that technique devs keep using to make objects in the far distance look like rocks or plain objects. Especially for local split screen, as that is affected the most for obvious reasons. I understand that it is used to keep performance but God that rock or object just looks awful. Sometimes there isn’t anything there until you walk up closer to the area to find there was a rock there. I don’t understand the tech behind it but maybe rescaling the graphics for split screen like you select graphics settings for pc games?

More smooth and less goofy of the sprint animation. Though that’s just my preference and I gotta say the thruster packs in the air animation looks like you are superman. It looks slick.

Smart scope can stay in as long as there is no movement penalty and descope is included. Sprint is okay with me as long as the recharge is connected to sprint for balance reasons.

New melee weapon. Halo 2 introduced useable energy sword. Halo 3 introduced useable gravity hammer. What if there were spears or something, like the halo 2 honor guards? Probably something Forerunner to make sense.

Keep equal starts but add something that could potentially make me want to play halo multiplayer more rather than just for bragging rights (I.e. 1-50). This is a difficult one to answer but my intent is not to fade, by that I mean I still believe 343 should push for something that keeps players playing for other than unlocking armor or the 1-50. Something that is like a progression system of unlocks that encourages you to keep playing but what, and how?

If active camo is to be included, please remove the movement penalty that makes you visible like in Halo 4. There was almost no point in having active camo if every step you took fully was going to expose you. Should have just made it so that when you sprint with active camo, you become visible.

P.S. you did ask us what we really want for Halo 5 to be correct? I hope I’m not straying too far off the thread.

with the way it is just with elites
