What do you guys think of specialisations?

If you’ve heard about specializations, then you probably know what they do. For those of you that don’t, specializations are a new feature in Halo 4 Multiplayer that allows you to rank up faster, or unlock things faster, etc. You can gain these overtime, but if you buy Limited Edition, you get 5 right from the start. Do you think this gives an unfair advantage to those that pay the extra 40 bucks, or that it doesn’t matter and things won’t be affected. Personally, I did pay the extra 40 bucks for Limited Edition (preordered) but I do think that maybe it is a little unfair. What are your guys opinions?

I don’t think its that big of a deal because its not like its exlusive or anything, I mean I can get them too it’ll just take me a few days.

all they really gave the limited edition buyers was a head-start, its not like they gave them exlusive weapons or anything like that so I don’t really mind.

You actually get 6 specilizations from the start.

And while i do think that it’s a bit unfair that these are given to those who pre-ordered it’s not like they aren’t going to be released. (It was said they will be released to the public over time)

And considering the fact limited edition owners pay quite a bit extra for what they’re getting and the fact that the public also have to pay for it i don’t think it’s really that bad.

I think its cool. Adds more depth to the game

Just another lame feature to milk money out of gamers and sadly many many gamers will go out of their way to ensure they have as many experience boosting specialisations as possible so they rank up as quickly as they can even if it means paying for them.

Im unsure at point

Even more unsure if they will be in COMPETITIVE game play

Only time will tell

Do you have a source for that? I never remember them revealing what specializations are. Either that, or im slow.

i cant find it now i think it was on halopedian but there was a list that had a few of the specializations

carry 2 primary weapons at the loss of speed
extra ammo
motion sensor while zoomed in

ill continue looking for the page

specialisations

this isnt what i was talking about but it has a few

I think they are just like Commendations from Reach except you need them activated to rank up in a particular category.

Should not be allowed to effect competitive ranks.

What are you talking about? Source?
Aren’t specialisations things like AA Efficency or Shieding?

Yes the OP is wrong, they don’t help you rank up faster or anything like that. They are part of your loadout and give you extra bonuses like extra ammo, shield regen, AA boost, and grenade pick up off enemies, ect. The OP was correct however in that LE buyers get a few right away.

I really don’t want them in multiplayer. I’m fine with weapon drops, loadouts, ect. but really don’t like specialisations.

And by the way, you spelt it differently in the title than in the thread. ‘Specialisations’ is English. ‘Specializations’ is American English.

I remember frank saying that the matchmaking will take into effect how many things you have unlocked, so that players who have unlocked everything won’t be paired up with people who are just starting. So maybe in the beginning while everyone is unlocking everything, the people who bought the LE will mostly be playing with others who also bought it.

Hopefully they will be really good for teams to specialise roles and stomp on casuals even harder.

This strikes me as the biggest upset to fairness and balance in Halo. People keep saying they will have no impact on gameplay, so why even have them?

I don’t want to be thinking after an encounter ‘would I have done better had I/they not had that particular specialisation’.

Also, how can the unlock pairing work with parties?

What if the population goes low like Reach’s? It’ll have to match you up with random gamers. I have my doubts about these specialisations.

And it’s BS. They should have never brought the unlock system to Halo. It doesn’t belong in Halo.

I believe it was from a description of LE on a website (forgot what it was) and an Anoj Explains video from machinima on YouTube

I just found an article describing the specializations crystal clear. And it’s the San Francisco Chronicle. I dont think they’d lie to us.

http://www.sfgate.com/business/prweb/article/Halo-4-Limited-Edition-Version-Will-Be-3659312.php

Skip the main article, or read it all, but when it describes what is in LE, it clearly says “Specializations will be available to everybody, but Limited Edition gamers will gain the ability to unlock a total of six specializations earlier than other gamers, from the day the game launches on Xbox LIVE. This bonus feature will allow experienced gamers to access new ranks faster, and unlock new customizations within the game.”

I am really interested in these specialisations, i want to see how will affect multiplayer

I’m happy that sprint is standard so that I can actually experience armour abilites without feeling sluggish.

No matter whatever ability I had in Reach, I always fell back on sprint. I just felt slow otherwise and not even evade made up for it.

I’m interested to see how it works.
If not, there are always Halo 4 customs. (:
