What do you guys think about the req system?

Let’s get a conversation going!

I think the REQ packs as they are now don’t work. If the next Halo maintains the REQ system, it could greatly benefit from an alternate mode of attaining specific cosmetics through REQ points, as opposed to solely through REQ packs. Somewhat of a compromise between the old system and the new system.

I think it’s pretty good. Aside from a few near unusable items (plasma cannon and oni gungoose, for example), the game seems to have good pricing. I think it could get even better if they changed it to 14 levels of req instead of 9, and priced the weapons and vehicles more accordingly. Like for example: there’s no reason a warthog and a rallyhog should be priced the same. One has nearly 2x the speed and armor as the other vehicle. So the idea behind a 14 req point system is that they could do is rebalance the rallyhog at 3 points and the oni and sword needled hog at 4. The sword variants of the covenant vehicles have an hp advantage but are the same price for the most part. This could change with a larger req point system. As long as you acquire req at the same rate it should improve gameplay.

Another thing they could do is help you spawn safely when choosing a high level req. There’s not much that is more frustrating than choosing a high priced launcher or rifle only to get spawn killed almost immediately.

But it’s a pretty good system overall imo

From the get go I never liked how armor acquisition was put into randomized REQ packs. I much prefer the method Halo Reach has. Ranking up and saving credits for what you wanted was so much more rewarding and satisfying. Having to save up enough REQ points to buy packs with randomized items was disappointing when you got the crappy armors you would never equip over and over again before you even got a piece from one of the handful of armors you actually want. If REQs are going to be in Infinite (which unfortunately I’m sure they will be) I’d ideally want them to only deal with special vehicle and weapon variants in warzone, perhaps with a pack for each vehicle and weapon type making the item pool for that pack to be specific.

I find the REQ pack system decent because I’ve played multiple games in where a loot box of sorts was the only way to earn customizables. But with the option that Reach has was the best in my opinion. I would like to see base customization options able to be bought but featured items (HCS for example) be pack only as a limited time thing.

I wouldn’t mind seeing special skins like HCS being packed like that so long as there are still good skins to earn in game. I don’t like systems that basically force you to spend more money to get the best skins in game because they’re the only good ones and that is the only way you can get them.

Probably the worst progression system in Halo to date. Make it strictly for Warzone next game and remove armor and everything else from it.

Controversial take: I like REQs

Controversial idea: I think REQs could and should work in Halo Infinite, with tweaks.

1: separate armor pieces and Warzone cards
2: Warzone unlocks are only permanent unlocks, with infinite uses. After all are unlocked, reward XP Boosts.
3: Don’t have random REQs be the only armor unlocks. Include other way to purchase/earn armors.
4: change pricing model. 5000 for one unlock, 9000 for 2, 13000 for 3, 17000 for 4, and 20000 for 5, as an example.

I think that cosmetic progression should be separated from the randomized system and reverted to the Reach system. Loadout weapons should be placed in their own specialized packs with no randomization (for example, all BR’s in a BR pack, all the DMR variants in a DMR pack, etc.) but microtransactions can be latched on (to my discontent, but it’s likely they’re coming back) like the Titanfall 2 system.

Power weapons, if we stay to Warzone’s weapon calling nature, will have to be randomized.

That would be my ideal REQ system. The system as it is now isn’t completely godawful, but I despise the way armor is collected and the sheer amount of paint jobs clogging the system.

I find it far and away far worse than it was before. I blame the REQ system entirely for all the stuff it did to customization, to the sheer butchering of customizable armor to even custom emblems. Progression in previous Halo games was entirely based on your progress and how long you have been playing. Now, it’s entirely based on ridiculous microtransaction nonsense.

As for Warzone… Who cares about thar garbage? I quite literally sell every Warzone related REQ because that mode is Halo 5’s worst mode. I blame Warzone for a couple of balancing decisions as well, because everything has to be designed with “Well, what if the enemy spawns with X?” design philosophy in mind.

The REQs are just as bad as Battlefront 2’s lootboxes, but without the ability to get straight statistical advantages.

Mostly hate the REQ system:
Firstly it breaks often so it means I can’t use my weapons/vehicles or even boosts.
Then there’s the fact that it makes Warzone a P2W mode, it mostly made Warzone Assault mostly unplayable.

I strongly feel like REQ’s are part of the reason why 3/4 of the game is online only so not a fan of them at all,
they have done nothing to improve the game as a whole except delay content, force us with late content,
with content that should have been there at launch so I really hope Infinite doesn’t have them anywhere.

Plus I remember this, well after a while I found it condescending to us fans since for a long time the game lacked content because of the REQ system.

I hate the REQ system as much as the next guy. But I think it could actually work with the Reach system for armor. Instead of credits use req points?

I would love to get rid of it altogether… But I heavily doubt that the req system won’t be in Infinite.

It’s pay-to-win garbage with an excess of armor skins that no one wants flooding the REQ pool and making the grind painfully slow. It’s a shame Halo 5 can’t get a linear progression overhaul like Star Wars: Battlefront II did.

It has potential it was just badly and lazily implemented. As bloated as they made it there was no reason why more stuff could be soley unlocked through game play or other means. There should have been cosmetics stricly tied to achievements. For warzone every one should have started with all the base load outs, including the dmr. The next tier weapons should have been unlocked via getting to a certain number of kills with the base weapon. All that should have been in the req system is some cosmetics (mostly their varients) the weapons with attachments, the vehicles and their varients, stances, assassinations… Stuff like that

I think it’s good and love all the new weapon variables but could change a few things namely some armours should be achieved by commendations etc not just openeing packs do you get the best of both worlds

I think cosmetics should be unlocked through a system like reach’s, but the REQ system for warzone works pretty well, all things considered.

Yeah I know the grind is the most mind numbing thing ever

It makes me want to die
