I fear that it will have so many halo book references that I wont be able to follow the story.
I mean, I’m a pretty strong halo fan, I can understand references like Halsey creating cortana but if references get to the point where I have to look it up on halopedia, then it has gone too far.
As long as the story can be understood without the use of an external source then I will enjoy it.
If you are a Halo fan worried about not following Halo 4, you must at least read glasslands and Cryptum, and then the eventual release of Primordium. They are easy to read (made for young adults) and are fairly short books that are written very well. The most recents by Traviss and Baer are by far the best. The original 6 will not play heavily into the new games, with the exception being Ghosts of Onyx.
Go read those 3, and then the eventual 4th of Baers series before the fall and you will have all the info you need. The novels are great, and if you count yourself a Halo fan then you are doing yourself a disservice.
343 Industries going pessimistic about the Halo Franchise. I don’t want to keep playing Combat Evolved style of gameplay for the next 10 years. I want to experience a new and exciting array of tools and devices in which made all the past Halos of this decade so appealing for me.
Halo needs to move on from the previous games now. Its time to voyage into unknown territory once more.
I do agree, but I must ask you, do you like Armor Abilities? If so then I must disagree. Armor abilities broke the arcade style of Halo. Equipment works, because equipment is available on the map at all times. Armor Abilities are an attempt to bring CoD elements of customization into Halo’s arcade style FPS, and it breaks it.
343 needs to find the middle-ground hybrid of these 2. Have variants of weapons available on the map, not loadouts for people to pick between. Halo is designed for map control, not tactical load-out choices. This is CoD. Have a BR and then a long-range BR on the map, but don’t have a deeper scope be an option to select before entering the game.
I hope to see a new and better game mode, Weapon variants and new vehicles. I expect something new (like armor abilities and equipment) but hope for it to lean vastly to the equipment side. Also, bring back levels! ditch the arena!

I don’t want Armour Abilities
I don’t want Equipment
I don’t want the Battle Rifle
I don’t want the Designated Marksman Rifle
I don’t want any Hostility or One-sided Arguments with the Community.
I want a fresh experience. I could care less for pointless and trivial things such as Ranks, Bloom, Arena, Bleedthrough and such. Give me a Halo that I will enjoy and love. A Halo that made all the titles unique in their own style. Not a hurried batch of Nostalgic Fan-Service with the same gameplay as previous Halo Titles.
To be honest, I want change in the next few Halo Games but some of the Community’s suggestions are really REALLY mediocre.
YES! Finally someone else with a functioning brain, haha. I unfortunately think you need to expect the return of the top 3 though, AR, BR, pistol. I heavily expect them to be altered though. The pistol has the grenade-style functionality. I think this plays into weapon variants that I referred to.
And I agree entirely that the return of minor innovations like equipment and AAs need to go. Something new indeed. I think with the story moving towards the Forerunners and their technology that 343i has every angle to fit anything new in and make it be cannon-based. Spartan Armor augmented with Forerunner tech is what I hope to see in the story, and then it spills over into the multiplayer. However they do it, they just have to do it right by keeping the Arcade FPS feel of halo intact.
i fear that the whole game will be master chief eating oatmeal, but really, i think i fear that it will be bad, there, i just said what almost everyone fears about it, that it will be bad, don’t ask me to clarify, as i won’t
I fear that the multiplayer won’t change enough. Keep the arcade formula, but add lots of new vehicles, like pelicans, phantoms, more transport vehicles like non-combat ships that transport up to six people, etc. Also, bring back vehicles like the Elephant and Chopper.
I’m not worried about the single-player, for some reason.

there isn’t a reason to worry about campaign because its all new stuff, we will all like the campaign.
-no CE type (shiny and gold, very fast, like a boss character but still susceptible to ordinary means of death) + style (berserks a lot, jumps a lot, fires weapons very fast, is extremely dangerous to everything, even his allies) Zealots (I’ve read that there are new Elite factions and apparently, they are commanded by shipmaster and field master respectively. It’s been a long time since we got to fight an Elite boss)
-friendly AI drivers
-Banshees with no hover (ODST Banshees are much more fun to use)
-unbalanced weapon sandbox
-enemies have more advantages than player (i.e. cannot be stuck by grenade, less reload/overheat time, damage sponge)
-boring space battles like in Reach. Throw multiple factions in to add to the confusion and realism
-mixed bag of skulls. There should be an option to display skulls by category (like this) rather than just detrimental/double edged and fun (gold and silver).
Some categories that some skulls could go under (the rest would be displayed in a box below):
