In all honesty do you think halo xb1 will turn out good. or do you think they’re going down the same path as H4? honestly i think im getting my hopes up to much. They said theyve been listening to us so i think some of our ideas will be implemented to an extent. but i think that they will probablly keep personal loadouts and perks. I really REALLY hope im wrong.
so what do you guys expect. will it be everyrthing we’ve wanted or something not even close to our wants. or somewhere in the middle. thoughts?

No. I don’t have my hopes up. They have stated several times that the Forum isn’t a reliable source and that we who are here have extra strong opinions.
They will keep looking at the playlist populations - See Infinity Slayer at the top, and make Halo 5 afterwards.
I believe my opinions resembles close to every player coming from the hardcore part of Halo.
This is why an open Beta is required. It should be out no later than early spring for any major changes to occur. I doubt this is going to happen though.

No, this is exactly why a GAME DEMO ON XBOX LIVE IS REQUIRED. NOT a open beta.
Betas =/= Demos
Honestly I’m going to get my hopes up and not going to expect much. I can only hope they make changes to multiplayer so its not as bad as Halo 4.
Now from the rumors that I’ve heard about campaign and multiplayer I hope they take that route and hopefully Halo 5 will be back on top of all gaming were it belongs.
At the very least, a lot more polish.
I’m expecting severe disappointment. I’ve certainly learned my lesson after hyping myself up so much for Halo 4 only for it to turn out so terrible. Who knows, maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised with Halo 5? I doubt it, though.
Storywise, I’m expecting disappointment. The only real thing that has wow’d me regarding Halo story was the Forerunner Saga. The “modern” Halo story, ie post-Halo 3 canon, has been lackluster. They have failed to get me interested in the Spartan-IVs, they’ve ignored rich territory to expand on in favor of more stories about Palmer, why I don’t know, and Halo 4’s story was a jumbled mess of plot points from the expanded universe trying to tie into the present time. I don’t expect Halo 5/XBO to be any better.
As for multiplayer, well I’m willing to be surprised. I would hope they learned their lessons from Halo 4.
Regarding multiplayer, I foresee two outcomes. Either they get it absolutely right or absolutely wrong. To me there is no middle ground for this.
Regarding Campaign, I have to admit I am fearful of what it may become. Visually Halo 4 was beautiful, however (IMO…) its campaign has lost all the mystery, ambience and grandeur of the universe it is set in. Stepping out of the lifeboat and setting foot on Halo for the first time is one of the moments that perfectly captures these nuances.
The only part in Halo 4’s campaign that brought me back to this was on the level Requiem, where after you trudge through the crash site you enter a cave, that as you get closer to exiting the light transitions and Requiem reveals itself. You are surrounded by a rich environment and you gaze upon a set of forerunner towers ascending into the clouds. This music that accompanies this moment was also perfect. I do have to give 343 credit for this one.
Ultimately, my worst fear is that in Halo 5 the story becomes a throwaway campaign. An addition that feels like it was only included because 343 had to. IMO, this is common with many modern FPSs as the single player more often than not is a side dish compared to the focus on multiplayer.
For Halo at least, the campaign and multiplayer should be equal reasons to buy the game.

I have to agree, it was that point in Halo 4 where it truly felt like a Halo game. More of that and less of…well the rest of Halo 4.

Sad, but true.
I expect them to learn from Halo 4’s mistakes while putting a bit more emphasis on prior Halo games.
People around here have always said, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Halo 4 will definitely be fixed. And I’m not convinced going directly back to the Halo 3 days will make for a competitive game in today’s video game environment. This is just my opinion, but I played Hao 3 last night. It’s fun, sure, but it’s also slow. If they just reskinned Halo 3 and made it Halo 4 I’d have played it even less than I did the real Halo 4. Halo 3 was the greatest game of its era, no doubt. But that was 8 years ago, a veritable ice age in video game terms.
I think Halo 3 will be a stronger touchstone for Halo 5, but they will not throw away all of Halo 4’s experiments. Some of the things we see in H4 will return but in a dramatically different form. 343 will tone down the change, spend more time developing fewer things (thus, better quality). And, of course, there will be some new stuff no one saw coming. There always is.

The only reason it is slow for you is because you haven’t gotten used to it. It’s no argument unless you have adapted and when you have, it won’t be slow anymore.
I expect one extreme or the other, no middle.
I will still get excited for it, but I will still be expecting the worst just so I don’t get let down.

This is how I expect most are looking at it.
I have reached the point of finding something else I enjoy playing that can take the place of Halo. Destiny or Titan Fall appear to be strong competitors.
Perfect world, I don’t even have to buy Halo and worry about the hit or miss because something else has taken its place. Halo has done nothing but go down hill since Reach launched, I don’t expect a 180 to happen.
Halo for X1 will be a borrow / rent before purchasing.
My Halo Exp:
CE: I don’t even care to try putting a number to total games. local tournament player, play all the time
H2: 3-5K games in total
H3: 3-5K games in total
Reach: 1,284 Games
halo 4: 1,527 Games (only this high because I sold all my games prior to buying this, really had no other options besides Market Place games)
I could make a phone call during CE days and have a LAN in days setup. This was possible through Halo 3 days because everyone played in the area. Reach launched and 90% of my area gamers gave up on Halo.
I’m expecting Halo 5 to be total crap, to be perfectly honest. I have lost all faith in 343i and their ability to make a good Halo game, and they haven’t really done anything to prove to us that they understand what it is that we want. In fact, they’ve done the opposite, telling us that we’re just a “very vocal minority”, and that they know what’s best.
They told us to trust them with Halo 4, and insisted that they were bringing Halo back to its roots. However, the game that we got was the complete opposite of that, so I can’t believe a word that they say. Even if they came out and explained that Halo 4 was a complete failure and that they were building off Halo 3 for the next game, I still wouldn’t believe it until I saw it.
So yeah, I’m guessing Halo 5 is going to be worse than Halo 4. If I’m right, then I’ll have seen it coming. If I’m wrong? Then I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

This man speaks the truth
Anyway, I’d like a longer campaign
I expect another game with sprint and AAs and personal loudouts. Another game that strays even further away from what made Halo MP so good. I expect another failure.

People complained about H3 being slow during H3’s days. Play some H2.

Agreed. Personally, even though a lot was left out in the campaign, I still enjoyed 4 overall. Couldn’t wait every night to get home to play the next mission.
