What do you expect with Halo 5's campaign?

The only thing we’ve heard about H5 is that it’ll have a darker story. What do you expect to see & what do you hope to see?

I just want them to actually explain -Yoink-.

What do I expect to see? Another overly linear campaign with no skulls and zero exploration or replay value.

What do I hope to see? A campaign that actually explains what’s going on, who the characters are, and why they are there. A campaign that actually allows me to explore the -Yoink- map (Dat Halo 2 Delta Halo) and choose how to engage my enemies. A Campaign that’s more than just “Push the button and hijack that lich that has done jack -Yoink- but is still for some reason a threat.”

I really hope to see a campaign that’s original, with intimidating enemies that have actual personality and a backstory that’s fleshed out. I hope to see missions that aren’t Star Wars ripoffs (dat Death-Star run) and most of all, I hope to see a campaign with actual replay value.

But of course that’s not going to happen.

I expect the campaign to be darker. I also want it to have MC battle Storm Covies, and Prometheans on Earth, specifically New Phoenix (Would be if ODSTs return). Other than that, I hope its as long as Halo 2.

I expect Thel 'Vadam (Arbiter from H2 and 3), flood, more enemies, friendly elites, more story to campaign, Play as Arbiter, Master chief (Just like in halo 2), The rookie (ODST), and perhaps play as a covenant brute or a forrunner so we can kill humans…instead of betraying your men when playing as MC -.-. I expect it to be as long as Halo 2 or longer. It would be better if it was longer than Halo 2. A new forrunner enemy, a new unknown army that is against the Prometheans and flood. I want my dual wielding back D:. Friendly grunts (Like they were supposed to be in halo 3 because in the end of halo 2, covenant kill elites and grunts), a new enemy on the covenant side, return of strong angry brutes from halo 2, more action, halsey to create another Cortana for Master Chief, Master Chief to fight with the Arbiter and elites against enemies. ALL enemies should return from the past halo games. 343 shouldnt rush this, and take their time on this. This should be more like the first three halos instead of Call of Halo Star Wars -____-. Return of Halo 2 scarabs, all vehicles, Arbiter to kill Jul M’dama and those who follow him… All weapons to return, more friendly sentinels, oh and uhhh… for the Spartan II’s to come back… remember. They’re all missing in action. . .not dead. And plus, Spirit of Fire is still out there guys… with badass spartans aboard, getting they’re beauty sleep in their cyro tubes.

I expect the Flood will make a return.

I don’t think we’ll ever get another Halo game as long as Halo 2.

I expect something that’s gonna hit the UNSC hard.

Hmmmm…that gets me thinking. I wonder who would most likely end up betraying the UNSC. Lasky maybe? Doubt it. What about Del Rio or Sarah Palmer?

I want it to take place partially on a halo ring, the game is called halo for a reason, but that reason was pretty much dead after (and even during) halo 3, but I also want to have some levels at other locations like halo 2 did, basically I want it to be similar to halo 2. I want an epic story, and origanol gameplay, not a star wars trench run, and I want there to be different ways to approach things. I want side objectives, campaign scoring, and medals, these would give you a reason to go play a level again, so you could raise your score, beat the level by doing a side objective, or beat the level by not doing a side objective, your choice. I feel like 343 could redeem themselves, but it is unlikely, theres what the community wants, and then theres what 343 is gonna do, there trying to make halo popular by copying COD, i wouldn’t be surprised if we had aim assist and being able to scope with all weapons and having weapon attachments and all that crap. There getting rid of everything that made halo unique, why? I didn’t hate halo 4, but it was certainly the worst halo, I want 343 to do better next time

Though H4’s exploration isn’t too bad (I’ve visited Dawn’s space area early, skipped Infinity’s holdout fight, got outside of Midnight at rally point bravo), it’s just typically limited to experienced players. Exploration should be accessible but at the same time challenging (and I don’t mean bull–Yoink- challenges like slippery slopes and rocks).

Stuff I’d like to see in Halo 5:

-less automated doors and elevators. I don’t mind pushing buttons, as long as we don’t have to go through that long animation for every single one. In fact, I want a choice with buttons. See Composer’s airlocks
-more rally points
-repeating checkpoints
-new skulls (as a new classification or something so it doesn’t ruin LASO)
-Theater, scoring
-more AI behaviors i.e. sneaking, sleeping, terror (a step above panic, only visibly seen in CE Grunts, Jackals, and Elites)
-less vehicle runs, more vehicle sections
-better vehicle variety
-more weapon functions i.e. stun
-better Master Chief (larger grenade count, shorter shield recharge wait, slightly more jump)

What do I expect? Well, the only confermed thing is that the campaign will be darker.
What I hope, I want a long campaign with WIDE OPEN battlefields and some corridors. Length wise, Halo 2’s length would be nice. Instead of the 4 hours it took me to beat Halo 4 on normal, I want at at least 6-7 hours on normal difficulty.
I want new exciting enemies. If Prometheans return, I want them to have more unique forms, and more distinction between crawler and especally Knight ranks. I would love to see the Flood return, I miss those 3-4 way battles in Halo CE. If the Flood do return, I want them to be more, Precursor-ish. Imagine a battle with the Timeless one! And speaking of the Timeless one, I miss Gravemind. How about we see a KeyMind!

As far as locations, I want to see more Rings and actually land on them. Just give a good reason. Wherever the Absolute Record is, has got to be a large Forerunber facility, let’s see something new. (Perhapse we can visit a proper Shield World) like Trevalan (Sp?)

And finally, story wise, lets finally meet Fred, Kelly, and Linda please?! I would love to see Blue back together, and having then around could help John feel more Human.

Anyway, I would live to see all of this in Halo 5, but I can never properly predict what will happen in A Halo Game. I can’t wait to see how 343 will take advantage of the new Hardware!

More Novel Refrences they did good with the didact and the composer. But i want more. Flood and the mention of precursors. Thel Vadam.

The arbiter, Odsts back and cool battles like there are in the live-action trailers. In the campaign there should be more missions and maybe going to the arbiters home world (sanghelious) and helping fight elites that are of another faction/against him. I want better AI movement in all of the species, for example, in most halos the elites only move their lower body, I want to see plasma rifle in one hand, and energy sword in the other, like in the Deliver Hope trailer. I want to see them sprinting and knocking things and people out of the way to get you. And when killing stuff like hunters maybe board them like on a wraith and melee them to death or stick a grenade in them.

Agreed

Just BioShock/System Shock/Deus Ex the -Yoink- out of it.
If you’ve never played these games then all you need to know is that exploration breaks up the gameplay so it’s not shooty shooty all the time, and allows for RPG like upgrades.
Couple that with Halo’s signature vehicle combat, you can make one badass game.

I expect a lot from Halo 5’s campaign. We know its going to be dark. I expect it to be less linear than 4, with the new hardware 343 can make larger battle fields.
It is interesting to ponder Halo 5’s plot, but I don’t think we’ll come close. Every Halo has surprised me in some way, I hope that trend continues. Oh, and I want the Flood back! 4 way battles like Halo CE please!

Not too sure what to expect! Hopefully there will be a way to get cortana back! I also hope laskey’s and halsey’s stories are continued and in some way intertwined with the next campaign!
