what do you expect/want in halo 4?

The title really says it all. What do you expect to come in the storyline? What do you think will happen to chief on the forerunner world?

What do you want or hope the multiplayer to be? What weapons do you think or will be in Halo 4?

If anyone has any info or links to fill me in from other sites on real info please post.

“No bloom, no AA’s, no boring grey maps, no DMR, higher jump height, fast movement speed, the BR, blah, blah, blah, fhgfhkasgfyiasik.”

This, unfortunately, is what everyone else is likely to say.

OT: Surprises.

In all honesty i would want that too. but people just want h3 back pretty much. what they dont realize is that they can all go play it still.

but yes, i would rather enjoy some surprises that are introduced in this game.

Indeed.

Who’d want a higher jump height than Reach? You already look like you’re the man on the moon. It felt much better in Halo Reach than in Halo 3. It just seemed like a cartoon in halo 3. Sprint is an essential in all FPS games. The DMR is fine.

I don’t see a problem with halo being unique and not having sprint. It isn’t essential at all…

True, but I don’t see the problem with Halo having sprint and still being unique and successful.

Halo 1, 2, and 3 didnt have sprint. They were all fine and sold millions and broke records. Nothing in gaming is “essential.” Whatever the developer puts into the game, that is canon with the gameplay and appeases the buyers, is essential.

Hiding behind walls and other objects is useful in games, but not essential, take Rainbow Six Vegas for example along with Call of Duty. You know how useful it would be to look around corners in CoD? But they didnt include because it would be unfair.

Same thing with Reach and sprinting. Its just unfair as it is useful. And even though sprint was added for the purpose of speeding gameplay up it still seems slow. The speed of walking without sprint is slower than it was in Halo 3. Therefore causing the gameplay to slow down doing the complete opposite of what the initial intention was.

A balanced game with good maps, and without a ton of abusable crutches like AL, Camo and Jetpack, at least not in loadout form.

What I want more than anything else in the world, including a solid gold racing car: for 343 Industries to officially renounce the Forerunner Saga and (albeit to a lesser extent) Glasslands as non-canonical errors in judgement, and to return to Bungie’s superior form storytelling. This would mean: no Precursors, no more than seven Halo installations, no biological origin for Guilty Spark, and absolutely no prehistoric human empire. Should they do this, I will have renewed confidence in 343’s recognition of the importance of storytelling in games, and look forward to the Reclaimer Trilogy more eagerly than ever before.

I want a game that isn’t a remastered Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3. or Halo Reach.

I want a new Halo game that use the Halo formula as a base, and adds and innovates for a new experience that still feels like Halo.

I want a sandbox in which every weapon is useful, where the utility weapon isn’t so powerful that it can beat just about any other weapon, short of power weapons.

I want Halo 4 to keep all the customization introduced in Halo 3 and Reach, and build upon it. Not all of this has to be implemented in matchmaking, but having the options there is never a bad thing (such as loadouts).

I want an amazing campaign that lasts just long enough, somewhere around 15 hours on normal.

Why would you want to just throw away the whole Forerunner aspect of Halo?

Just because you didn’t like the new books doesn’t make them bad.

With the exception of the boring maps, all of those things are what defined halo for a decade. When I pick up a Halo game, there are certain things i expect from it. Same goes for every other franchise, game or otherwise, on the face of the Earth. Once you start abandoning the ideals that made an IP so successful in the first place, you start losing your long time fans. Yeah, I want surprises and innovations too. But I also wan’t to be picking up a definitively HALO game this fall. I don’t want GearsofHaloofDutyofscrollslands 4. I want HALO 4.

THIS

A decade from now, I want to be begging 343 to be remake it, just like we did for CE.

I want a Halo 4 that I can play and enjoy for a long period of time. Good games for me are those which can be played for a long time without losing their entertainment value, for example some games you can only get a 30 hours from before becoming bored, but others you can get an easy 200+ from and still find ways that the game can entertain you.

And that’s pretty much what I can expect from a Halo game. For a game series in the FPS genre Halo has always been able to provide hours and hours of content where other games in the genre don’t often have over 30 hour’s worth of play time.

I never said all of those ideas to be thrown out the window, it’s just that EVERYONE is saying this on a weekly basis. It’s getting a bit ridiculous. I want the Halo formula, with new things built on top of it. I DON’t want a Halo 2/3 with slight additions.

Syllipsis has a good point

i would sugest they just tweak it a bit to fill in gaps. but you have a point i did like bungie story telling better. glasslands plus karen travis (woman that ruined the star wars series according to fans) = bending the story to its breaking point. greg bear ~ not ridiculosly that mutch compared to karen.

The way you phrased your post made it sound like you wanted them to throw everything great about Halo out the window and start from scratch. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is another common way of thinking here. For a moment there, I thought you were one of THOSE guys…

If Elites are to make a comeback make them 8’6" beasts again that were a son of a -Yoink- in hand to hand fight again. Not stupid small skinny hunched-back toads. I mean BEASTS. I would gladly give them up in multiplaher if it meant they could be put back right again and escape stupid multiplayer balancing that got them in that mess.

I must say i would enjoy a 15 hour campaign. A campaign much like Halo 2’s which in my opinion was the best story mode out of all of the Halos.
