What Do You Expect In Halo 5 Matchmaking

Here’s something quite interesting. In the next title, what do you expect/hope to see in Halo 5 Matchmaking.

With me, I hope to see:

Two separate settings (Classic and Infinity Settings)

Feel free to share your thoughts.

HINT: Mods, if there is a topic discussing something like this, feel free to lock and post the link, if you can. Thanks.

Ranked/Social playlist split, trueskill ranking system returns.

I want and expect the gametypes to be split based on ranking systems, not gameplay features. There should be gameplay uniformity across the board. The game should play roughly the same in all game-modes, like in Halo 2 and 3, with the exception of party game types of course.

Infinity settings can go die in a fire. Build maps with set weapon pickups and timers over implementing random ordnance, get rid of default sprint in Matchmaking (on map AA pickup instead?) But right now sprint is killing map flow, either we keep sprint and map design suffers or 343i do something about it.

What I hope to see in matchmaking:

Ranked Playlists

  • Uses TrueSkill based matchmaking
  • “Classic” and “New” playlists
  • Visible 1-50 ranks

Public Custom Matches

  • Uses server browser (Majority of the PC games, Gears of War 1, Perfect Dark Zero, Section 8 etc. use that setting.)
  • You can filter what you want to play (Mode, gamertag of the host, ping, amount of players, region, default or modified, map etc.)
  • You can ignore and favourite hosts
  • Quick match: Select a mode you want to play and the game searches a match for you. When the game finds a match, it tells the amount of players, ping, map and possible changes the host has made. You can then confirm if you want to join the match.
  • Acts like custom matches in previous Halo games
  • Stat tracking disabled
  • (Set up/rent dedicated servers for yourself, just like in Battlefield 3?)

Expect? No clue. I would like to say that they will realize they chose the wrong road and turn around on some decisions, but I can also see them deciding to keep driving figuring they have to get out of the woods eventually.

Hope? Social/ranked split. Infinity settings confined to a couple infinity specific play lists. Grenade launcher coming back would be enough to get me to buy the console before the price drops.

Ranked and social playlists theatre for MP,campaign, spartan ops/firefight.

Campaign.

oh yes…hopefully firefight, with SpOps, alongside.

I’m expecting it to be much better than H4.

I suspect it will won’t have the “halo” style that most veteran fans desire.

I hope it can truly be a successor to Halo 2.

It’s going to be -Yoink-, judging from Halo 4.

If it is firefight hopefully it will be more like halo 3 odst.

It should be more like a successor to CE

I hope not. CE was spectacular for when it came out and what it was, but the needler was really the only gun with a nonstandard mechanic. Power weapons were pretty well limited to shotgun, sniper, and rockets. The weapons had ridiculous range to the point where most encounters on medium/small maps were more about shooting first than making sure you had the right weapon for the job.

I’m not trying to dog CE, but we take for granted all the improvements that have been made to fps design in the last 10 years. Now… many of the new mechanics i can do without.

Definitely. ODST had the best firefight. Much more intense than Reach. I think the only thing that resembled Halo ODST’s FF in Reach was Score Attack/2x SA, & FF Limited.

That and gimmicky armor abilities, poor map design, and only one useful weapon (DMR 3.0)
