I opened an REQ pack and got a “shotgun certification,” but I can’t find it in my collection, and am not entirely sure what that means. Could you please clear it up for me?
Basically it means that you’ll get more of that weapon in future REQ packs. You can’t get a weapon in a pack until you get the certification first.
Getting a Certification for a power weapon or vehicle means you will get that particular weapon or vehicle more commonly from REQ packs.

You actually can get a weapon without having the certification first. I got a Nornfang, but I don’t have the certification for it.
It means that the RNG will favor that weapon in the future, when you open any packs. I’m happy that I just got my certification for The Answer now. I just need to get into Warzone to try it.
I just want more Mantis certifications. Even though the vehicle is paper thin even after the update.

I think the spnkr em is the most common mythic legendary.

It is. And I think you can only get those weapons you dont have certifications for out of Daily Win Packs.
Im not quite sure though.
Also, do the little symbols in the corner opposite the number mean you have that weapon certification? The symbol looks like an 8 without the bottom quarter missing.

Not from regular REQ packs, you weren’t. The promotional, award, and bonus packs work differently.
It means you’ll regularly get the weapon/ vehicle in REQ packs in the future.

The blue ribbon shaped logo in the upper right corner means that you have the certification.

I disagree, when I got my spnkr em certification I had 14 I got from silvers. When I got my blaze of glory certification I only had one of extra compared to the 14 extra of the spnkr em. I unlocked the em before I unlocked the blaze.
