What do we all like and hate about Halo 5?

I know Halo 5 has been given a lot of hate in the past few years just because it was more of a technological remix to a classic spiritual first person shooter and I can understand how that would make a lot of people mad, but Halo 5 has a lot of undeserved hate it storyline may have been a little wonky with a few holes but it was a pretty good story and I enjoyed it, so what do we all hate about Halo 5? I think that the game was decent the multiplayer was amazing the custom games was even better the forge was pretty good and the theater was ultra, and let’s not forget the graphics a lot of fun experience people give Halo 5 hate for "rebooting elites"but honestly Halo 5 did not reboot the elites Halo 4 rebooted the elites along with Halo 4 forward unto Dawn and I have to say Halo 5 elites looked a lot better than they did in Halo 4 they looked a lot more British than the original games but less slimy and gross than they did inHin 4 Spartan ops. And sure the Prometheans are absolutely annoying to fight but they were something that kind of saved the game and I appreciate that honestly Halo 5 saved Halo from Halo 4

Like: a few of the missions
The graphics
Smooth gameplay

dislike:

multiplayer maps
req packs
giant exp requirements for leveling.

the CE throwback playlist a few weeks ago really exposed how unmemorable 5s maps was.

Likes:

  • multiplayer - most developer maps (ranked) - forge - customs browser - magnumDislikes:

  • most forge maps (ranked) - warzone - firefight - campaign - how long it takes to reach max rank - req system - BR

Likes
-The Multiplayer
-Warzone
-The feel of the game while being played
-Graphics
-Controls
-Forge

Dislikes
-The randomized permanent Req’s (At least let me buy a single helmet without having to open a unspecified amount of packs)
-Story aspects of campaign (If that wasn’t a given)

very true, spamming reqs to get 1 helmet is downright annoying

Likes:

  • Crisp, responsive gameplay
  • Much better framerates than H4
  • Magnum
  • General look of the game & Spartans
  • Keeping Arena free of req ability perks, loadouts, drops
  • Playing community forge maps (I don’t build personally)

Dislikes:

  • Nerfing the BR … has no reason to exist in MM
  • Aimimg on DMR feels not as precise as Reach
  • Can blow real money to win Warzone (wouldn’t mind spending game earned XP/reqs only in WZ)

Overall, solid entry although polarizing. Take it over H4 all day.

I’m going to focus on MP, cuz as much as I like Master Chief’s saga, MP is why I play.

Like:
4K@60fps on Xbox 1x

Dislike:
I don’t love any MP maps
Spartan Charge/Ground Pound
I prefer Reach style Armor customization
I wish a rifle was the primary utility weapon, not the magnum
*Boltshot is lame

Like:

You don’t like mythic? You have played more games this season than I have.

Hate is a strong word but the biggest flaws in Halo 5, in my opinion, are lack of split-screen, and the way the paid lootboxes influenced the design of the game (specifically, the way they focused on Warzone so BTB was an afterthought, and the quantity-over-quality approach to designing armor sets).

On the other hand, there are a lot of things I like about Halo 5, such as seat switching, Big Team Super Fiesta, the combat dialog especially with IWHBYD (I lost it when I heard Warden Eternal talking about “can you go? I have friends coming over”), Big Team Super Fiesta!!!, the announcers DLC especially Yabda the Merciless, the powerful Forge and customs browser. Overall I had lots of fun with Halo 5.

Yeah but also pretty glitchy, unfortunately

I just did not like the story and what they did with it.
Not going to touch on multiplayer as I never played it.

I really really liked the Spartan Company feature. It’s been the best community-building asset baked into a video game I’ve experienced. Having my own little community of gamers and game nights has been a truly unique experience that no game has been able to come close to replicating.

Going after the Achilles set was a very fun long term goal and grinding those marines lead to some hardcore bonding with people that I hopefully never lose touch with.

In terms of gameplay, H5 is a very smooth arena shooter with all the abilities and strategies one can employ. I was never very good at it but always enjoyed it- even if I may have shouted profanities about spartan charge once or thrice.

  • The BETA - JiP for the social environment, since it was implemented more properly than in H4 - The incredible sandbox and its general balance (post-tuning); the REQ system’s amazing weapon variants - Treating the magnum as a competent and useful starting utility weapon; no bloom - Getting back to a more strict balanced start concept from recent Halo titles - Spartan Abilities; though, Spartan Charge could definitely use some tweaking - Custom Game options & the Custom Browser - The Minigame label - More new medals - Weaponry highlighting - Spartan chatter and location labels - Forge. The advances have greatly helped to strengthen the custom community as well as to allow them to reach incredible achievements - Spartan Companies - Many of the developer & forged Maps - All DLC included at no additional cost! Thanks to a minor-ly invasive REQ system that doesn’t exactly turn the game into P2W - Dedicated servers - Seat switching within vehicles - 60 frames per second game-play - The control settings; including the advanced control settings - Warzone was an intriguing concept, but the return of a new type of Firefight within this area of the game is the best aspect of it IMO - The squad concept in campaign - Focused, Balanced, and Expanded Matchmaking preferences - The ability to Spectate and Observe matches. - The Promethean Soldier and Goblin Mech - The Bronze - Onyx CSRs (w/ the most recent adjustment updates) - The vast Matchmaker w/ Computer Learning parameter adjustments & TrueSkill (v2) improvements - Anniversary Throwback + many additional modes/playlists - The spawn influencer that was added to the ball in OddballDislikes -

  • Lack of expected content at release; took a year before reaching an acceptable state IMO - Some bugs/glitches are still present - No split-screen - No developer Big Team Battle maps and the mode was treated as an afterthought - Campaign story & the false advertisement of the game’s marketing - The default Battle Rifle (post-tune) within the Arena environment. - The SMG (post-tune) - Limited Promethean vehicles - No Brute faction within the Covenant and in-turn the weapon sandbox (minus the Gravity Hammer + its variants) - Minimal support after the decision to finally overhaul and fix the MCC - Massive restrictions for the Warzone environment regarding custom modes - Not fully available on the PC platform and no news about future cross-platform cross-play capabilities between it and the Xbox - The effectiveness of the Spartan Charge mechanic is a bit much IMO - The social Arena environment not switching to, or including, a more robust scoring system like the point-based system that existed in Halo 4 - Missing medals from previous titles - Missing modes of Extraction & Regicide; plus, I think a Warzone take on Dominion would’ve been neat - Missing a dedicated mode for 1-sided round-based games. Instead we had to rely on the Forge and custom community to pull something out-of-thier-butts (years later) to make something work for it - Warzone Assault not being round-based - Theater - Loses statistically count when you’ve been JiP’d into losing matches

Yes, Mythic is awesome. But it’s not in the “main package” let’s say.
