I like talking to the moderators and taking their personal opinions in account. I been reading all these threads and I don’t see much of their replies anywhere. Hopefully I am not looking at the wrong area I just wonder what they think of what everyone saw recently and if the moderators would like to share any of their insight to the forums. They are a staple here too.
Personally I loved what I saw, super excited for it.
Moderators are just people, our opinions don’t matter more than anyone else’s.
That said, the recent demo made me smile a bit as the gameplay looked fun, but I am worried about the story and the general narrative direction. The graphics stuff doesn’t really concern me.

Just curious what makes you concerned with the narrative direction of infinite? If anything from what we saw it seems promising Atleast to me.
They’re was quite a bit I liked, quite a few things I was disappointed or confused by, but I can’t judge a game till i’ve played it. It’s halo. They’ve already made the sale for me, but I’m sure I’ll sum up my thoughts after a few campaign run throughs.
I was a little underwhelmed with the graphics (unique complaint, I know, thank you), but I’m proud 343 didn’t just cave with advanced mobility and make everything a basic H3 scheme again. I know some aren’t happy about that, but it showed me that 343 is willing to stand for how they want halo to be, instead of just going for the money.

Im no moderator, but H5’s story set up the created as this new faction to deal with and that infinitity was on the run. It was a cliffhanger ending, but in the infinite demo it takes place quite some time after the events of H5 so much so that the war has ended? We still dont know if this war was waged against the created or what happened with Anders in the ending of HW2. It just seems likes none of these plots threads are gonna get directly resolved in Infinite, and instead we will be told what happens to them which is the worst form of story telling. There is still a lot that we don’t know, so I’m still giving them benefit of the doubt, but those are my concerns with the narrative direction.
I loved every second of it: Seeing more of the Pilot, the wildlife, how much we can potentially explore, that warthog drift, grappling enemies, BRUTES THROWING GRUNTS!?!? Gameplay definitely looked like a lot of fun, quite excited to jump in and play. The very end speech from Escharum gave me chills and I seriously hope we’re gonna have a cool boss battle with him.
Ignoring most of the graphics chatter. I know that stuff will have been worked on since the E3 build was branched off and will continue to be worked on until the game is ready to launch.

That is the exact opposite of what 343 is doing. They are not making a classic halo game to appeal to a larger younger audience in order to increase profits. If they really were going to stand up for what they believed was the right direction they would basically chose 100% advanced mobility or classic. Instead they made a game thats in between and isn’t really made for anyone, exept new potential halo players who play other modern games.
I keep looking for the inevitable gif by Snickerdoodle in these threads but then I remember that’s she’s been hired.
It’s still really really cool imo that 343 hired an active community member. Wonder what it’s like to be working everyday on something you’re a fan of?

I’m concerned they’ll scrap the story beats set up by Halo 5 and not satisfactorily conclude the Created. H5 gets a lot of flack but I don’t think the proper response is to pretend it didn’t happen.
I am still looking forward to play the upcoming Halo Infinite. Hopefully the new Halo video game will have an amazing experience.

You say that like moderators and humanity are two different things. Moderators aren’t machines. Were just people. I’ll let you have this post to yourself.

Really? Wow so sad she cant say anything to us anymore and how she feels about it
I thought the art direction looked rather bland, overall. There were some welcome changes, but overall I see a lot to improve. It’s a topic impossible to cover in brief, because there is a lot of nuance to it.
Unlike many people, i’m not actually too concerned about the graphics. I would definitely prefer to see some more next-gen features, but the reality is that better looking games have been made with worse graphics. Better lighting may help the art a bit, but it won’t change the artistic decisions that have been made.
When it comes the gameplay, I don’t like the indecisiveness of it. The fact that 343i backed to a more traditional style but are still clinging onto Sprint and Clamber is indicative of a design that’s afraid to fully commit to anything. In fact, I get similar vibes from the art direction. All this lack of commitment to some strong vision makes the game seem a bit design-by-committee and soulless.
When it comes to the soundscape, the weapon sounds were a disappointment. They lacked character and kick. It was especially noticeable on the Mauler copycat if you compare it to the original Mauler sound from Halo 3. It’s just kind of a thump that could go on any weapon. It doesn’t describe the weapon like the scraping of the Mauler does. Similar issues plague the other weapons.
The music was better than in Halo 5, but thus far nothing that would elevate it above okay. I think that in order to raise above that it would have to try something more creative.
