First time on Heroic, to enjoy it (didn’t really); doing it in 8 hours on Legendary (easy); and then this’ll be the first LASO I complete, because it’ll be relatively easy too.
Me too. Heroic was the right choice for me. I had fun with a bit of a challenge at times.
I’m currently playing through on heroic and taking my sweet time. I’ve always played each Halo game on heroic on the first run. I’ll eventually do a legendary run at some point & a normal run to get all the collectibles without worrying about enemies or anything.
Normal for my first playthrough and LASO for my next.
I played it on Legendary first, which I’ve done for every FPS title since 3.
I found it incredibly easy outside of a few of the more frustrating boss encounters. To the point that I may actually never play this game on anything but Legendary or LASO going forward. Legendary in Infinite honestly feels like Heroic in any other Halo title.
I’m debating between starting a second Legendary playthrough to collect all the skulls and collectibles in the mission areas I can’t revisit, or just focusing on the overworld until they eventually add mission replaying to the game. I hope when they add it it’s set up so you can use a game file you’ve beaten the campaign on, and select missions to replay by fast travelling to mission nodes on the map. If they don’t that would turn my search into something of a waste of time lol.
I’d also like to see them implement a means of spawning non-variant alien weapons and vehicles at your FOBs, as well as enabling anyone who’s beaten the Spartan Killers boss encounter to spawn the modified chopper, much like you can for the Sword and Hammer from the end of the game.
First play through is on Legendary. The following playthrough, to gather collectibles will be on Nornal
I have been on the fence about wether or not 343 intended to have the Bandana skull useable during the LASO play through for the achievement.
I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s there on purpose. Simply for the fact that some enemies seem to have more health than some bosses do,. You’d run out of ammo before you killed them.
Besides that anyone that’s played LASO on the legacy games would’ve used exploits etc to circumnavigate the effects of certain skulls.
Really I think 343 catered to everyone, and LASO seems to be achievable for those willing to put their minds to it. I’m sure someone will try to finish the campaign with Bandana off, but I doubt it’s doable.
I do agree that Infinite seems to have had the easiest LASO since ODST. I also didn’t feel like my head would explode playing through it either like I did back on H2 and CE. Which is why I think it plays well.
Challenge accepted.
Regarding Bandana, this is a what a viewer (Fingergun112) commented on one of my videos:
“Just FYI for everyone: the Scorpion Gun is not a glitch, its an Easter Egg put by 343 as a homage to the Scarab Gun from Halo 2 back then, so I extremely doubt they are going to remove it even for LASO in the future as everyone likes having this obviously. I think 343 is trying to make LASO in this game more accessible to more people so they toned down the frustrating skulls like removing Iron (god can’t imagine trying to restart mission on this game with Iron if implemented, and I think 343 saw this) and making Bandana for the first time a requirement for LASO (which is debatable for the challenge but has always been a skull in past Halo games). If 343 did implement Iron in the future as a new skull for everyone in an update, I am sure it won’t be required to toggle on for LASO in the future, but optional as a challenge, maybe.”
I have yet to find a confirmation of whether it’s really an intended Easter Egg for the Scorpion gun but I feel like the person is right about Bandana. And your comment kinda confirms that as well. It should just make it more accessible and have players play through it more “regularly” than intended.
I’m currently working on the Halo CE LASO with a friend who’s as much of a try-hard as I am when it comes to these challenges, unfortunately he doesn’t have much time at the moment because of some job problems but what I wanted to note is, HE is the one who wants to play it the LEGIT way. Meaning no glitches or tricks or whatever unless there’s literally no way around it.
Truth of Reconciliation? Yea that mission is where we’re stuck on. We can’t get past the first section of entering the ship… this part is an absolute nightmare. We literally played that part for 24h straight without getting past it.
First off Truth and Reconciliation has to be one of the hardest LASO missions in all of Halo, it’s up there with Gravemind! So keep at it and you’ll get there eventually. Make sure you’ve got enough sniper ammo for when you’re in the belly of the beast, as that section is just as hard. TnR is the stuff of nightmares.
I’ve done all of the previous LASO and honestly, without the bandanna skull I highly doubt you could pull off LASO in Infinite, and not because of skill or anything I’m sure your friend is quite capable, it’s more so to do with the lack of ammo in certain areas vs certain enemies.
The iron skull is there it just works differently now. So you can only get a checkpoint if you have full shields, if you played through half the game without ever dying and never had full shields since the very beginning you’d be put back to the start after dying.
Heroic so I could finish before holiday
Legendary when I get back
First playthrough. Legendary for fun
Second playthrough, Easy with story mission collectibles. I also got tje speedrun achivement
Third, Laso.
No juat post game collectibles clean up
Overall legendary seemed okay. Had a few harder spots i had to figure out. Then the bosses just spiked even more, but was very fun!
Laso…uhhh. xD yeah. Scorpion gun and bandana, lmfao
Legendary, Cause this the only way Halo can be played. Unless they ever bring Mythic difficulty back.
Legendary out the gate. I found the game kind of easy on legendary due to the equipment and the ability to call in weapons and tanks. Bosses on the other hand were very challenging. I really enjoyed roaming around capturing all the FOB’s and taking out the high value targets. This game is spectacular! 343 did an incredible job. I’m really looking forward to more single player or PVE content down the road. Such a fantastic Halo!
Legendary of course. I’m going through it nice and slow to collect everything unlockable etc. the bosses are the only difficult part, and even then just a couple have been that bad
I really enjoyed the campaign. I started it on Legendary and I found it to be less challenging than Pervious Halo games.
As I played along garbing all the collectables and upgrades I got very used to the enemies and their week points. I upgraded my shields to and grapplehook right away. I would say the first 3 levels of the game felt like classic Halo Legendary due to not having anything upgraded. I was able to get in close with the grapple stunning the surrounding enemies and would finished them off with a quick melee. This combo is what made most of the game a walk in the park compared to other Halos. Once I got unlocked the Wasp I was able to clear all the high value targets with ease. I would note that the final two bosses and any hunter encounters were a decent and welcome challenge…
My second play through was like yours. Easy for the speed run.
My third playthrough, also like you, I did LASO. Like you I found it to be easier than Legendary. The one thing I did different was to grab the scorpion gun and I would recommend this to anyone who is planning a LASO run. With that in had nearly everything became a one hit kill. Even the second to last boss fell in one shot due to him being launched into a wall and dieing on impact. Infinite ammo and grenades made it a breeze as well. The only thing that was hard was being send back an hour because the check points would not trigger if you did not have full shields.
Now I’m back getting my butt handed to me every other MP match. 343i did a very good job IMO. The whole campaign was an awesome experience from the second I started to the last boss on LASO. I can’t wait for Co-op So I can play it again with my friends.
Well, LASO is Mythic difficulty. You have the opportunity to obtain an achievement for completing all of the main missions with every skull active once you’ve collected them all.
I played in Heoric to appreciate the campaign and still have a little difficultie to me. I hurry up to finish it in one week end. I will attack it in legendary next years and take my time
Playing legendary now after completing on heroic and have found it pleasantly difficult so far. Seem to be a lot more zealot elites, shielded brutes and higher ranked grunts.
Rapid fire pulse carbine is insanely strong against anything with shields including the bosses I’ve fought so far.
I found bosses miserable though after a while and repetitive. They were fun at first then it is just exhausting
Fair enough. What difficulty did you play on? Some bosses can definitely be rough to go up against, especially on harder difficulties. I mean I’m by no means bad at playing through incredibly difficult situations in campaign, but I’ve got to tell you now. That Bassus fight caught me out more than I care to admit.
He wasn’t overly intelligent, but I suppose how intelligent do you have to be when all you’ve got to do is leap 40feet and swing a massive gravity hammer!
