Like everyone else here, I’m pissed. I’ve been a Halo fan for years and have loyally bought all the DLC to come out, especially for Reach. Action Sack and Anniversary BTB were half my experience. What can replace Shotgun Assault and Headlong/Ridgeline, now? It’s like I’m being shoehorned into 343’s idea of fun, which seems to be nothing but DMR-based play with MLG Pro wannabes on utterly terrible Forge World maps.
Anyway, I was sad to see that the biggest problem with Reach wasn’t addressed—people quitting out of games. For the last 2-3 months now, it seems well over half my games have people quit by the end of them. I divide (or used to) my time between super slayer, team snipers, action sack, anniversary BTB, Grifball, and living dead (which has been ruined by Zombie Ghosts, but that’s another story).
I measured it with my friend a couple Saturdays. On any given night we play Halo for an extended period, 60 to 80% of our games feature someone quitting out or being booted. I don’t think we’ve played a BTB game since 2011 that didn’t have at least 2 people quitting out. Whether it’s kids ragequitting or god knows why else people jump off at every opportunity, it feels impossible to get reliable 4 on 4 slayer games anymore. We feel special if we get to play a good slayer game without someone quitting. The penalty is way, way too light. And 343 will of course keep it light because most of these quitters would probably just stop playing Reach if they were so inconvenienced. It’s a thought I’ve had myself now that my favorite gametypes have been removed. I feel like a mindless shill for buying DLC.
