What did they do to the Recon Helmet?

Before I talk about the helmet I’d like to say that everything else in Halo 4 looks amazing. I love the multiplayer, spartan ops and campaign. I am so excited for the game and after seeing the demo on Monday I went out and pre-ordered the limited edition.

Now, just look at these 3 pictures of the recon helmet in Halo 3, Halo Reach and Halo 4. The Halo 3 and Halo Reach recon helmets look very similar, almost identical, but the Halo 4 helmet looks… odd. I know this is not the final build but if an aesthetic part of the game that they did not need to add wasn’t done why would they show it?

lol its missing something, I think the Recon Helmet from reach looked the best xD

Tell you the truth, Recon was always ugly. :stuck_out_tongue:

It does look somewhat odd, but I’ll say that it’s due to a bad angle. Take a look at the Scout helmet for example. It looks pretty darn awful in the customization menu, but it looks fantastic in-game.

“Imbrium Machine Complex took ownership of RECON production after the war.”

Go complain to them.

lol that is scout

Halo 4’s Recon has a changed visor, 3 and Reach’s visors are slim and straight. 4’s is blockish.

Yes… That is what I was saying… What’s your point?

Fully agreed, the pic of Recon in Halo 4 is taken slightly under the head/helmet) while the ones of Halo 3 and Reach are either face on, or slightly above the helmet/head. Instead of making the visor look like the narrowing eyes of a really tough guy, it makes it look ugly and “too wide”.
Hard to describe, but I think it will look good if you see it face on, or from some other angle

They UPDATED the graphics. You can’t apply more detail to something without making it look a little bit different, I think the new look is really cool. Alot more sci-fi esque.

The visor is upside down.

It’s not that drastically different. Did you want it to be exactly the same? Just use a different one.

Edit: Sorry for double post.

My favorite helmet’s gone to -Yoink-.

Might look better in-game like a lot of helmets do.

Personally I’ve never liked Recon.

The new Scout helmet in 4 is what I’ll be using

Good point.

Also OP, you say Reach’s and Halo 3’s Recon look almost identical? Reach turned me off Recon armour, it was totally different. I’m sure sure it’ll be changed or it just looks weird in the armoury like Hotrod pointed out.

> Tell you the truth, Recon was always ugly. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tell you the truth, that’s not the truth. It’s an opinion. -__-

Anywho, I do agree with Hotrod, we should see it in-game before making the final judgement.

But I do agree it looks pretty hideous in that photo.

Personally, I always like Halo: Reach Recon the best.

The Scout variant looks quite sick now that I’v seen some actual game-play with it. I liked the Hal 3 variant of Recon the best, considering it had the right amount of black armor on it to balance and contrast the colors.
