I know this might sound absurd or like nit picking. But upon first seeing the Athlon I knew it was the armor set I wanted to eventually get. But recent screenshots are showing a change in the standard skin/look of the Athlon helmet. The only significant difference is the grill/mouthguard is now bright silver as opposed to the original black it had in the art and trailers. IMO it looked much better in black, it looks god awful now…see what I mean:
the silver looks lame as hell, why would they ruin this cool helmet. Please 343, make the Athlon look how it was supposed to in the original appearance of the set. Even this new figure has the black parts:
Don’t worry, Athlon has I believe 5 different skins, maybe even more.
That’s probably a different skin and anyway I think it actually looks better than the beta version pictured.
Also that figure image is awesome! I want to make my Spartan look just like that because wow.

I think its the same skin, the color pattern is the same…its the stock Athlon set based off the newer REQ images I saw. The textures/lighting on it is better which is why it looks improved. But the silver grill on the mask gives it an entirely different look. The figure does look really nice though.

So there are at least 6 skins (more might be added and there might be more in the actual final game) and I believe 1 of them, judging by the picture, has a black grill mouthpiece. (the 5th one in the row)

None of the Athlon variants have the black mouthpiece either. All of them now sport the silver part. So the original beta trailer look of the armor is no longer present. Which is really disappointing.

Yeah, the grill changes with the primary armor color. But it still doesn’t look how it did in the beta, steel in this game isn’t close to being black. Basically you can’t get it to look how it did in the beta.
Figured i’d bring this up again, since now I have some Athlon gear. I can say that it does in fact look like -Yoink- (or at least the helmet kind of does). I can’t even color my Athlon armor like this:
