What counts as a Banished weapon for challenges?

I’m really not sure on this. I’ve just finished a game where I got 21 kills, of which 7 counted as kills with Banished weapons. The link below is a list of all the weapons from the official support site, and using this list I counted maybe 10 or so kills that should have counted as kills with Banished weapons. If anyone knows which weapons count as Banished weapons for the challenges, I’d love to know.

Skewer and mangler I normally use for those types of challenges.

It is really hard to tell because they could be either going by what weapons have the banished design or by what weapons the banished use in the campaign that are not human.

Anything that looks like a Covenant gun.

Anything that looks like something a Brute would bash your face in with.

Shocky stuff.

Personally, I’d just use the Needler.

I don’t think power weapons count - definitely not the hammer.

The hammer worked for me, I was playing Fiesta though. Maybe that is why?

Yeah, that might be it. I think Fiesta doesn’t count, it has to be a weapon you picked up in a normal match.

All I know is that I had to get 20 kills. It was literally the first challenge on my list, and the last one that I completed. I had three sword/hammer kill challenges, and the progress towards those didn’t seem to go towards the 20 Banished weapon kills.

I posted in another thread that I thought power weapons don’t count but my skewer kills definitely have been counting. Grab Hammer hasn’t been, who knows why, they were both in the escalation mode.

I was under the impression that only the new banished weapons count and if they were considered covenant weapons previously they didn’t count. I don’t know where I got that idea from but the following weapons worked for me.

Stalker Rifle
Mangler
Skewer
Disrupter
Shock Rifle

The Ravager probably counts if you can get a kill with it.

Anything that isnt human made? There is no Covenant anymore. So even the Needler counts as a Banished weapon and the plasma pistol.

The issue could also be when you get a kill after the opponent has been damaged by someone else - it sometimes doesn’t count for the challenge.

This weapon challenge tracking problem has been ongoing since Infinite launched.

Thanks for sharing the link by the way, I’d never seen that page before. They really should put some of these reference articles in the game rather than making us come to an external website for it.

Some weapons belong to the forerunner faction though e.g. heatwave and cindershot

I would have thought this as well, but needler kills DO count, so it isn’t that. Meanwhile, nothing screams Banished like the hammer, but those kills do NOT count for me. Finished a hammer challenge with no points toward Banished weapon kills. Confusing as heck.

Stalker Rifle
Shock Rifle
Pulse Carbine
Mangler
Needler
Disruptor
Ravager
Skewer
Energy Sword
Gravity Hammer
Plasma Pistol

I don’t know why some people aren’t getting the gravity hammer to count. It worked fine for me.

I don’t think the Energy Sword counts but then the Grav Hammer doesn’t work for me so maybe it’s the same issue.

I’ve played half a dozen matches so far and none of my hammer kills have counted. This challenge is worthless. lol
