So the Assault Carbine has been announced but im not sure what it could be. Is it human, Covenant or other. And how would it fire considering there is already the Assault Riffle (AR), Battle Rifle (BR) and DMR?
There is a hybrid in halo: Ghosts Of Onyx (Book). I forget what its called, but its an amped down full auto BR style gun… Look up the cover of ghosts of onyx to see it.

I have no issues with this. Maybe it could function like the Needle Rifle; full auto, accurate at first, huge spread if the trigger is held, and headshot-capable.

my very general guess would be something similar to the plasma repeater in Reach, but faster bullets and doesnt over heat, pretty much just the combination of the carbine and assault rifle

No, carbines are typically short-barreled variants of rifles. Their barrel is too long to be considered a pistol, but too short to be a rifle.
Sorta like how the M4 is a variant of an M16, or the AK 74u is the carbine variant of the AK 74.

I loved using that thing on Tensity and Snow Grove.

I think so too.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was the MA5K since it’s a weapon that fans (including myself) have wanted to see in-game (Halo Custom Edition not counting, though CMT did an excellent job at creating their version of it) since Ghosts of Onyx was released.
Maybe it’s a very aggressive carbine.
I think it’s just the new name for the assualt rifle…
Probably a mix between the Carbine and Needle Rifle.
Will be stronger than the needle rifle but weaker than the carbine but will still be able to hold the trigger for rapid fire.
