Halsey doesn’t know, I’m thinking it has something to do with Didact. It could be that forerunner bird thing in the trailers. There could be more of those things, and Jul or Halsey never had an contact with Didact correct? So they wouldn’t know about his plans. If Didact was not to know what these anomalies are, then I’d crap myself.
Also, I feel like these bird machines we’ve seen in Chief poncho trailer and artwork could be called Guardians. Maybe a revamped version of Guardian Sentinel that were cut from H3. “Killed by the Guardians.”
It’s been strongly hinted at by Josh Holmes that the trailer creature is a Guardian (on Twitter, when asked what the thing is, he replied something to the effect of “it’s not a war sphinx, and the answer is right in front of you”…I don’t have a link handy). And some official messaging from Xbox mentions colony worlds being attacked, which I would guess are the Guardians as well (again, sorry, no link).
I think the anomalies are related to the Guardians, and that they’ve been set free, potentially by John. I don’t think the Didact and Guardians are connected though.

Guardian(s) hahaha! Seriously though I think there are more than 1 of them just judging by the difference in the way they look from the E3 trailer and the Halo 5 puzzle cover art. Remember all I said “I think”
