I’m considering changing control schemes for Halo 5. I’ve always used bumper jumper for the convenience of being able to jump, aim and shoot without taking my thumbs off the thumbsticks, but I do not like how sprint is mapped to the A button in Halo 5. What control schemes are y’all using and why? (By the way this game is AMAZING! Loving the MP so far!!!)
Recon.
For some reason I always associat reloading with rb, probably from gears of war.
If I change it now I get so confused and end up crouching off ledges instead of jumping etc.
Xbox one has button mapping now, so it doesn’t matter which you use
I played the Beta on Recon. I decided to try out Default.
Recon,
feels just natural to me
Im using bumper jumper and it is pretty good. It forces you to think before sprinting away and not getting your shields back.
“Halo 4”
Loved that controller scheme and was glad to see it here
Interesting…I’ve never tried Recon. I played a bit on the Halo 4 control scheme which wasn’t too bad. Bumper Jumper is still my favorite with Halo 4 scheme a close second. Is Xbox One button mapping already available?
Last night just a few minutes after launch I joined a multiplayer game, everyone in the lobby was super excited because they were mostly Brits too I think.
I saw an enemy. We ran towards each other, eager for our first kill… and both started crouching/boosting/meleeing the air. It was great. Controls will take a while to get used to I guess.
I’ve been playing Bumper Jumper since H3. I played a bit in arena with BJ last night and then I switched and played with default for a bit. I can’t really tell how much of an advantage having “Smart-Link” on the Left Trigger is. Does anyone know if Smart-Link actually makes your weapon more accurate?
haha exactly! The controls will just take some getting used to.
Standard-Scheme, while considering doing bumper jump or switching thrust and grenades, though I wouldn’t like nading with B.
I’m still using default… But I’m picking up the elite controller at lunch, so we’ll see if that changes.
I’ve been using default so far, I always feel like default will be best suited to playing the game once I get used to it. Though I’ll admit I’ve royally messed up some good chances for grenades because it isn’t left trigger anymore.
Halo 4, I’m really used to it and I feel it fits with how I use my thumbs for the game. It was funny because at the time I started the first mission I was trying to jump or run and I trhuster moved I felt like I broke the game, then I remember I have not changed the settings, so I did it. I was looking the name Reclaimer but it was Halo 4.
Halo 4. It still feels wrong to me though. I want left bumper to be sprint. I never use that burst thing so that’s wasted real estate. Fully assignable buttons would be fantastic.
Been using default. My only problem with default is that assassination’s you have to hold down the RB button. If you hold it to long though you do a Spartan Charge so that has messed me up a few times in games.
Fish Stick. It’s what I used on Halo 4 and what works for me.
CE/2 was default
In halo 3 I switched to Bumper Jumper and thought it was godly.
In halo 5 im experimenting with Default and the elite controller.
Paddles set up:
TL:Jump(A)
BL:Thrust(B)
TR:Reload(X)
BR:Weapon Switch(Y)
Seems nice, now to retrain myself out of bumper jumper and decide whether i want to switch the bumpers around.
