I like Halo 5 default control scheme. So I used the custom control layout in the test flight, and switched the crouch button and the equipment button. Really cool that 343 gave us that option.
What control layout did you use in the test flight?

I used the button puncher one. The only thing about it that I didn’t like was something fairly minor. Pressing right on the d-pad drops your weapon, and pressing left switches grenades. Since in other Halo’s you can just press either direction to switch grenades, I would sometimes find myself throwing my weapon on the ground right before a fight. I think changing it so that you press and hold on the right d-pad to drop your weapon, but letting you switch grenades if you just tap, would make the layout feel perfect for me.
I used bumper jumper but slightly amended.
It really felt like I needed two more buttons playing this. Maybe games are that complex nowadays that an Elite/Scuf controller with paddles is needed if you want to elevate your gameplay. I found the Ping and Grenade change buttons needed to be on my d pad so I never got to use them effectively.

Lmao yes this happened to me loads too.
Been stickin’ to Recon ever since the default control scheme changed when Reach launched.
Bumper jumper is my default across most titles
recon. pressing LT to aim down sights in halo is big cringe
Recon,it was hard to find something i liked
I used the one the is labeled halo 4 in halo 5. I don’t remember it’s name in the flight, I think it was legacy.
LT grenade, LB equipment (was thruster in halo 5), RB melee, RT shoot, RS scope, A jump, B crouch/slide, X reload, Y swap weapons.
I use an elite controller though, so I have a paddle on the left for A to jump and a paddle on the right for B to slide/crouch.
i did to used a layout like H5, but im starting to try others, as infiniti will not have thrust
Bumper Jumper, felt very fluid to me
Bumper jumper for life
I used Bumper Jumper, which I’ve been addicted to since Halo 3. I will never, ever play with another layout… so long as 343 keeps it as one of the presets in future Halo games.
Halo 4 feels the most fluid to me. So I use H4, Reclaimer, or whatever it was called in infinite
I used Legacy which is basically Halo 4 controls for both Infinite and for MCC. I don’t know why that’s the one I gravitate to every time but it just feels natural to me to use LT for grenades and RB for melee. Zoom being on the stick is hit or miss for me sometimes but honestly I don’t zoom in too many times so it doesn’t end up being a big deal for me.
Default because I’m lazy but I will switch the ping to something else in the release since it’s awkward with default controls.
Bumper Jumper
I had the Recon control scheme but switched the X and LB buttons so LB was sprint and X was equipment to try and mirror Reach/H3
Recon.
i used the default settings, i usually use boxer layout, but it wasn’t present during the flight.
