I’m just a bit curious what you guys might want to see in the finished build. I’ve been playing the latest test flight. Really enjoying it.
Anyway, I’ll dive right in. Below is a list of tweaks I’d make if it were up to me…
Personally, I would shrink the AR reticle (only when zoomed in) to roughly the size of the BR reticle. I like the feel and performance so far, but I’ve always wanted a slightly more precision-style sight on that weapon.
I might increase the rate of fire on the battle rifle (make it kinda like the new sidekick pistol), so you’d have to pace your shots to maintain accuracy. Same 3-round burst of course.
This one is a long shot but I’ve always wanted a third weapon slot. Maybe place weapon select on the d-pad and replace the “press Y to switch” option to switch grenades or something.
Friendly Fire should be ON but with some damage resistance. Hey 343, leave friendly fire in, but seriously just try reducing friendly damage by half.
EDIT — After reading all that you guys have said so far, I have to say, it looks to me that Aiming, Assault Rifle, and Motion Sensor are top 3 concerns.
The aim assist is okay-ish. What I’m seeing is mainly an issue with changes to recoil, bloom, and red reticle ranges. The Sidekick and the Commando are so different from the magnum and DMR. I’d have to go through weapon by weapon because I honestly don’t have a problem with aim assist by itself. The sidekick needs to be a 5 shot without any bloom when sighted (zoomed in). Keep the kick from recoil only. Same for all precision weapons. The damn Commando should be a semi-auto… PERIOD.
1B. On a completely unrelated note:
BIGGEST GRIPE FOR ME IS GETTING KICKED OUT OF ADS (ZOOM) WITH INCOMING DAMAGE!!!
Seriously, increase the threshold amount of damage needed to take the player out of his/her sights. Like if you take 35% damage within 1.5 seconds, then I can see you flinching out of zoom. A sniper shot, a grenade, two bursts from the BR… that would be fine! But being grazed by the AR or something is total bs.
The Assault Rifle suffers from one major issue IMO. And that is an issue with the reticle when zoomed in. If it’s going to get a buff (i.e. headshot multiplier) then it ought to have a functioning precision sight.
Motion sensor needed a nerf honestly. I’d put it at 20m and only show sprinters and live fire.

I like most TTK for most UNSC weapons, but many of the others do seem a bit off.
I personally like having a slight headshot multiplier with the assault rifle, and I do mean SLIGHT.

Start completely over. It’s too much like halo 5. I hate all the little extras. Bring halo maps back. More BR. Less AR. Less sprint. Less maps that promote crouching. No gimmicks. Ranks. Done.

I dont think they built the sidekick to be used as a main weapon though… devs want to give players an incentive to pick up weapons on the map and not just use pistols (which you are allowed to use lol)
make zoom no longer affect RRR with non-scoped weapons
remove the headshot multiplier from the assault rifle, or slightly nerf assault rifle DPS
slightly increase non-shield health
I have a lot of issues related to poor aim feels, but the easiest fix I have is to reduce starting grenade count down to 1. Right now every fight just opens with a barrage of grenades being spammed. At least within the matches I’ve played, fights will start with about 10 seconds of back and forth nades before any shooting even starts.

That just promotes cross mapping with the AR. The sidekick isn’t good enough to use as a main weapon and there are two BRs on the map at most. There aren’t a lot of weapons on the map to pick up that aren’t automatic weapons.
I think a lot of people including me wanted the pistol to be viable, but not as strong or have as much range as the battle rifle. I was hoping the pistol would be like in halo reach. In reach you could use the pistol as a decent precision weapon, but you would be able to pick up better precision weapons. In reach if you faced someone with a dmr or needle rifle you still had a chance to win the fight with the magnum. In infinite if you just have the sidekick and you face someone with a BR you don’t really have much of a chance.
The changes I would make would be
to have more BRs or precision weapons in general on the maps
improve aiming. All of the weapons feel off. The aiming feels inconsistent.
I would buff the sidekick. Maybe get rid of bloom in the sidekick or at least make the sidekick more accurate at midrange.
decrease the range of the assault rifle and maybe lower the damage too
add br starts social playlist when the game launches. I like social, but I don’t want to only use automatic weapons every game.
It would be greatly appreciated if 343 Industries would provide options to turn off the following game elements please:
AI voices - Input-based matchmaking - The “goomba stomp” auditory feedback associated with each kill & assist - Vehicle outlines, weapon outlines & player colors/outlines

Increase kill times? It’s already pretty fast with me barely able to react with a grenade or to shoot back lol. In halo 3 I would always nail a good grenade return when shot from behind.
Do something about the AI frequency, it’s been particularly bugging me. Whether it be repetitive voice lines or the game lacking a slider to mute the AI.
Slight damage reduction on AR, as well as remove its head shot multiplier. The AR is just too powerful right now IMO. Either that or completely remove the AR starts from the game and make the AR a pickup.
Increase the radars radius to 25m. This is the thing that bugged me the most about Halo 5. As it is, the radar is pretty well useless unless the enemy is right on top of you.
The Commando needs a buff. It’s a pathetic joke right now. When you’d rather keep your starting weapon (AR) over it, there’s a big problem.
Overall, game is fun and looks/runs great. Hopefully 343 finally nails it.

Theres definitely a few things i would tweak but my main ones are:
slightly longer TTK
cutting down on how many special/heavy weapons are on small maps like the areanas. Feels like everyone has one and no one is really fighting over the special/heavy weapon of the map.

Apart from maybe giving us a traditional progression system all of your suggestions are the complete opposite of what I’d want them to change lol.
Here’s what I’d change:
Go back to radar where you only show up when you sprint or shoot.
Slightly increase sprint speed.
Add friendly fire back in.
Make the grapple shot a standard equipment item (with three uses) that you spawn in with.
Raise the TTK so that 1 v 2s are once again realistic. Also either remove clamber or increase base jump height so that we can at least crouch jump onto clamberable ledges and there is at least some semblance of a jumping skill gap.

I agree 100% with that point about grenades. Definitely adjust it to just 1 starting grenade!!
A lot of you have valid points about the weapons.
I’m not a huge fan of the sidekick as a starter. If it were up to me, I’d have the halo CE magnum except it would be a semi-auto. My thought is that it would be a 4-shot kill to the head but only at very, very close range. A range factor like in other shooters would help. You can keep the RoF of the sidekick, just cut the range down to 4 to 5 point blank, 5 to 6 at range. Max range like 7 or 8. Something like that as long as it is balanced right.
I think the problem with the AR is that it is just not right for a starting RIFLE. I think it actually needs to perform like a true 7.62 NATO rifle. We have the Commandi now but basically I would hope an AR would be more like a cut down, weaker, automatic battle rifle with half the range capability. 1.5x zoom reflex sight, tighter reticle, 12ish rounds to kill (with headshot multiplier) up close. Add a more limited range and significant recoil, and it might actually be worth a damn as a RIFLE. Otherwise change the AR to SMG and have it function basically the same. The headshot multiplier is ok as long as it isn’t more than like 2 rounds difference. Again, add RANGE stats for reduced damage at longer ranges 343, please!!!
Radar to indicate elevation. Range doesn’t bother me much, as I only use it in cat am mouse situations.
Add more button layouts. There is a strange lack of built in options. I had to use custom settings to make a “Boxer” layout. (Tweaked more than once to streamline.)
Bring back Red Vs. Blue team dynamic. The friend of foe system in use is too hard to pick out in certain lighting (And or difficult for my colour blindness )
Increase lunge distance for melee.
Add a genuine XP based progression system. And add some way to grind credits to make some purchase from the store.
Unlocked the -Yoink!- battlepass for free to everyone during the flight (Just the flight). As it stands now I cannot access it due to not being aware I could use free credits provided to purchase it. Used all the credits on the in your face bundles before I realized.
