About 1 in every 15 Halo 3 team doubles multiplayer games, my game will freeze upon 2-3 seconds after my initial spawn, thus resulting in xbox restarting itself lol wtf?
as a fellow software developer, I would like to ask… what is causing this?
Seems like a crucial bug in my opinion. It didn’t start happening for me until the recent update (when you removed the ODST Halo 3 Ranked Playlist)
I’ve talked to other players and they are experiencing this same issue.

I have this problem too. Usually (possibly exclusively) with Halo 3.
Just happened to me on H3. First match post update the game freezes but the audio continues, and then when I try to fire a shot the sound plays and the Xbox turns off. This is the only game in recent memory that when it crashes just shuts down the console.
I only play CE and it happens a lot there. It came about the same time as the very first skins update.
A memory leak would not cause that. Most likely what’s happening is that two parallel processes in the graphics card are interfering with each other, which causes the kernel to panic. As a programmer, I know that it’s EXTREMELY difficult to made something crash so hard that it shuts the machine off. The main program is in protected memory, so even if a game crashes hard, the OS shouldn’t. It had to put the hardware in a bad state somehow. I wonder if they overclocked something, because that’s how it’s acting.
it’s acting like the processor is trying to tick forwards, but some instruction hasn’t finished yet. Over clocking a server is the only time I’ve ever seen software completely shut down a computer.

Since this bug was first introduced around the time weapon skins first became a thing, I’m going to set all of my skins to default and see if this occurs again
