After having a quick browse on Instagram, I came across a comment where somebody said that the only good thing about Halo 4 was the second campaign mission where you step out of a cave and see the Forerunner constructs for the very first time. I replied that all of the Halo games had their pros and their cons, their ups and their downs, and I gave a couple of personal favourite moments from Halo 4 as well as what I didn’t like.
That got me thinking about the other moments in the Halo games. The shocking ones, the sad ones, the awesome ones, and the ones which could have been better, more fleshed out.
I would like to know what moments stood out for you in the Halo games and what you thought could have been done better.
Halo 3 has been my all time favorite game since it came out because of how much fun the campaign and multiplayer/custom games were. It’s hard to recollect the most jaw dropping moments as I was quite young when it came out, but definitely the first time you encounter a scarab on the mission “The Storm”. Watching it crawl over the building and into the battlefield was absolutely mind boggling to me. I would play that part over and over again figuring out the multiple ways to board it. I wish the newer campaigns could recapture that sense of awe that I felt playing Halo 3, but since I’m much older now, I feel like it would take a lot to make me feel that again.
While on the topic of Halo 3, I felt the mission cortana was an unfair level, especially on legendary difficulty, but I don’t really have any major gripes about the game. I loved every second of it, and still do to this day.
Also, those forerunner structure on Halo 4 blew me away with how stunning the graphics were. I couldn’t believe I was playing a game, and not watching a movie.
I remember how intimidating Hunters were in Halo 2 upon first encountering them. It’s a “stuff just got real” moment.
Then, of course, you quickly realize you just need to run in circles around them and shoot them in the midsection from behind.
I think one of my favourite moments for Halo 2 was the entirety of New Mombasa. It was really fun to go through the city whilst it was being invaded by Covenant, and the soundtrack playing in the background really got me amped up. lol.
I can think of many great moments throughout the series (at least for me.) The first appearance of the Flood in Halo Combat Evolved. The betrayal of the Brutes and the first appearance of the Gravemind in Halo 2. The levels where you play as Arbiter, having covenant allies in Halo 2. The destructible Scarabs in Halo 3. The Arbiter working with Master Chief in Halo 3. The Flood being your allies in Halo 3. Mombasa Streets and the Engineer ally in Halo 3 ODST. Using the MAC gun and the Lone Wolf mission in Halo Reach. The first appearance of the Prometheans, the Mantis, and the Mammoth in Halo 4. These are only a few moments that stood out.
When you first get to meet The Flood. Spoopy stuff!
I give h4 a lot of slack but when Chief doesn’t back down to Del Rio, that was a moment when I legit got mad at Del Rio and was hyping chief up like I was in the room with them haha.
The ending of h3 for the sake of not knowing what would happen next with the halo franchise. There was a lot of speculation at the time that 3 would end the series, so I have a distinct memory of ending the campaign thinking that this was the end of the story

Man I agree with you about the Flood in CE, seeing the Gravemind in Halo 2, and I was stunned when the two pure flood tank forms dropped down in Halo 3 at the end of “The Covenant” to help you. I was like, “oh -yoink- it must be bad if even the Flood is helping me” lol. I also don’t know why but in Halo 3 I really love the opening cutscene where Chief falls from the sky and Cortana narrates. Also the opening of the portal to the Ark on “The Storm” I love that cutscene. Honestly to me the only thing that got to me on Halo 4 was the last scene with Cortana where she shielded Master Chief and I thought she died.
I am more of a Halo Reach fan and that is the halo game i have played the most. I did play Halo 3 and i can’t see why it is considered to have the best campaign. That’s nor really important. My most memorable moment in Halo was the Lone Wolf mission. Seeing your spartan die in the most sad and quite ironic way woke up some emotions in me. You realize that spartans are not invincible. IMO halo reach had the BEST campaign.
If you don’t know what i’m talking about check out this video:
My favorite has to be lonewolf as it shows the grim reality of fighting the covies

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that last thing you said. That was definitely a moment that stood out. By the way, I also really like the opening to Halo 3 as well. Part of it is because of nostalgia, but I really like the music that plays and Cortana’s iconic speech.
