What campaign gaps??????

I see alot of hate comments towards the campaign as in story gaps. I played the campaign atleast 15times(helping people) and i just dont see any gaps in the story. Yes the didact could of used more dialogue so the non book readers could understand him and so he could really establish him self as the guy who gets under master cheif skin(or should i say armor lol) but other than that theres not much to it. or maybe a cutscene showing Del Rio getting demoted. But if you see or know of any gaps in the story please post them here so i could know. In my OPINION i see none

There might be one or two tiny gaps in the story, but if you have read the books then you’ll know a bit more about what’s going on. However, the argument here is that should we be forced to read the books in order to have a better understanding of the story? Shouldn’t the game be able to do that on it’s own?

  1. Why were all of the Spartan-IIs in the Prolughe wearing Chief’s Cortana upgraded MJOLNIR armor despite it not being able to possibly exist?

  2. Why and how did Master Chief manage to get to Requiem? Past canon dictated that Mendicant Bias sent him there, but no mention of that AI is made whatsoever.

  3. How did Chief’s armor change?

  4. What happened to the truce between the Covenant and UNSC? It is glossed over by Cortana and never brought up again.

  5. Just who is the Didact and what does he hope to accomplish with his plans to Compose all of humanity?

  6. Why was Installation 03’s Activation Index on Ivanoff Station? Where is 049 Abject Testament?

Need I go on? 1-5 I easily know and understand due to my background knowledge of the Terminals and books…but it was still poorly told in-game.

Well I had no problem with the campaign what so ever. Plus it could be that I read the books and I’m a really big Halo nerd that does research on everything. So people who don’t know that much about Halo or haven’t read the books can get really lost in all of it.

I think it’s fair to say most of the stuff, such as Master Chief’s armor, was simply retconned.

Chief’s armor was not retconned as the original Mk.VI is available in multiplayer and multiplayer is canon now. Retcons as a general rule of thumb when they are not necessary are terrible.

Yeah, good point and well made.

No the outside armor is retconned. All cortana did was firmware upgrades. There is no way for her to do hardware upgrades while he is in cryo.

It cannot be a retcon when the original model of Mk.VI is STILL canon. Also, nanotech.

“In Halo 4’s campaign, John-117 wears his original Mark VI suit, though it is drastically different in appearance from its Halo 2 and Halo 3 incarnations. This is because Cortana used nano-machines stored aboard the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn to repair and upgrade the suit”
That’s the explanation apparently.

He wants to compose humans and turn them into prometheans to fight the flood. Which isnt really a bad thing when you think about it. I think for the casual halo fans they should go get the books so they wont have to complain about story gaps.

Alright then, tell me where he says that in the main Campaign.

Except 343i said people wouldn’t have to read the books to get the story. Nobody should have to read novels and novels of text just to comprehend the story of a first person shooter. Instead of trying to make casual fans feel bad, why not put more pressure on 343i to tell a more coherent story that doesn’t rely on tons of background knowledge?

It’s just bad storytelling otherwise.
