With Infinite being a 10 year hub for Halo content it’s obvious they’ll most likely be adding campaign DLC? So what would you like to see?
I have 2 suggestions that I would really LOVE to see.
My first suggestion, is a Headhunter DLC. How I imagine this working in to the story is the Headhunter/Headhunter team (if you are playing with a second player) are tasked with clearing sections of the ring of Banished. The game will also allow you to customise your Headhunter Spartan with some armours that Headhunters are known to use.
My second suggestion is an ODST DLC. Now this one I know a lot of people want. It could fit in the story in 2 ways, the first way could just be standalone. ODSTs are dropped onto the ring via SOEIV, now you could either be a sole ODST, or with a team, and their task is to bring the fight to the Banished, obviously with an in-depth story behind it. The second idea I have for this is in relation to the Helljumpers we hear a Marine trying to contact in the audiologs. It appears that some ODSTs from the 105th (I know this because only ODSTs from the 105th are called Helljumpers) were able to make landfall from Infinity, but what happened to them is unknown, so perhaps 343 may be setting this up as a DLC?
Any Zeta content which uses our MP Spartans in a lore-friendly way.
Be it dropping in to maintain the foothold Chief has secured, or dropping in to just Firefight as a Fireteam, or heck, just roaming with 4 players.
I’m hoping they’ll add some sort of Flood based DLC where a Flood infested ship crashes on a section of the map, similar to the end of “The Storm” mission on Halo 3. They could possibly add a new area on the map and have the odd Flood patrols appear around the map, fighting Banished patrols etc
The Flood is a “Must be” I’m really waiting to see them again in some point in this Halo or in the next one, for me ist the best enemy in the series I really hope 343 doesn’t bring immediately the Forerunner (IMO worst enemy so far)
I’d love to see some other biomes, especially a snowy one with big tank battles (Scarab would be sick!).
Also I’d like to see my favorite weapon of Battefield 4 added: a bow with poison arrows. Would be an addition that’ll double my playtime of the game, it’s just so much fun. Just like the grappling hook, it doesn’t have to be original for it to really work well for Halo’s gameplay; which is already phenomenal.
Furthermore I do feel the game is a bit too low-res at times on my series S. Tune DRS maybe a little? I know it is not technically DLC but I’m greedy and I wants it ;-p Oh, and let me replay levels.
I’d want to keep the focus on Chief rather than go straight into side characters. Would always take next chapter on the cliffhanger over anything else.
I’d like to see them meet Mendicant or Offensive and learn about the Logic Plague. It would be criminal if we don’t see a flashback of Cortana encounter with the Gravemind.
Obviously, the Flood get out of that containment facility they mentioned earlier. Add more three way fights in the maps.
I’d like to go to the island with the Guardian on. Perhaps you can have a Mass Effect 3 moment where the Weapon speaks to the dying AI or something like that.
I’d like to see some more ambient quests added, even if they were just fighting waves of enemies on the map. Just for something to use all your upgrades against. Whilst I’ve had fun fighting patrols for co op more would be nice.
I know the equipment is busy as it is, but I’d like if there was an upgrade tree for Cortana 2.0. Not just for extra abilities but also to add the sense of you being a team outside of main missions. Perhaps more ambient stuff like a vehicle repair?
Well dlc’s for the current campaign is one thing. If we’re getting to play as different characters then I say create a whole new campaign and have them play different like have health packs or what not.
I think this is a great opportunity to try out many different stories in the halo universe that would be difficult to get produced. All these don’t necessarily need to be on zeta halo, but since that is the focus is probably will be;
Arbiter expansion, maybe on sangheilos, also featuring half jaw and the other two from three. See how the sangheili handled the created and now the banished.
Alpha- Nine expansion, is never want to miss out on a new drop cutscene; plus it’s be nice to spend some more time with the crew after Bad Blood, maybe Jun could make an appearance.
Osiris duo expansion; unfortunately plagued with iffy writing and a weak game overall I feel Osiris didn’t get a fair shot; and they deserve a second chance. Have vale and Tanaka team up to search for Locke or something. Could fill in what happened while chief was mia.
And naturally during all this I’d expect large chief expansions to be the main focus while the rest would probably be smaller affairs like ODST (unless tied to the chief], either way I think they have plenty of room for growth and expansions they could. I’d be incredibly disappointed if they didn’t follow through with ideas similar to these.
This is the one halo game that is begging to get story dlc every couple years, and I’d gladly pay 40-60$ for quality expansions.
Absolutely agree. I forgot to mention that in my main post, but I’m almost certain it’s coming based on what Commander Agryna told us before she left in the Academy mission. That has got me super excited.
While I’m not the biggest fan of fighting the Flood (as it’s super repetitive and boring imo), I’m almost certain this will probably be coming in the future. But if it happens to be put into a story DLC instead of a theoretical FireFight, I’ll probably buy it just for the story.
My above reply would suffice for this. I do agree though that the Prometheans weren’t great either. Although assassinating Knights will always be satisfying to pull off.
First point, I absolutely agree. A biome variety would be nice for future content. We did get a glimpse of a desert-ish biome near the end so that’s possible.
Second point, I’m not really fussed. Besides from the point of how that’d work against enemy shields, it also is a bit outdated for Halo’s time setting. If it can be worked into the game, even just in Campaign, that’d be a compromise I could settle for. Maybe an ODST we play as later down the line is a good Archer, and they like to carry their lucky bow.
As for your third point it is unfortunate you are having some graphical/technical issues. But the replayable levels is something that I’m hoping for too.
Wouldn’t be against this even though I’m not too fussed if it doesn’t happen. My main craving for Halo is playing as a Spartan-III the most, but I do get how it feels when you can’t play as what you want, so that’s why I’m for this idea.
Agreed on both of these
Don’t get me wrong. I want them to wrap up Chief’s current story before going into new characters, or returning character, etc. Leaving plot threads unfinished is something we’ve been dealing with for too long as Halo fans, from Halo 5 and HW2 especially in terms of games.
I’m not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean creating a new game? I mean the way I see it, Halo Infinite is to be the main hub for the next 10 years of Halo. So presumably, all Halo campaign DLC’s will be going there.
If you were alternatively referring to the different characters of those DLCs then yes, the health for Spartan characters vs say ODSTs for example would be different, with the Spartan’s health being given via their suit, whereas an ODST would need to find health packs, perhaps they can actually carry some with them on the field, and when they run out they need to scavenge more.
I did answer this above, but yes, I do want them to continue Chief’s story until it’s wrapped up then delve into other Campaign DLC. Especially DLC’s people have been wanting for years.
I couldn’t fit any more quotes on this reply so my next message will reply to the remaining messages ((:
Yeah I mean like in infinite, you would select a different campaign. I thought that’s how it was going to work. Like there would be multiple campaigns to play or buy, and it would be under the campaign menu.
Now that you’re getting me thinking about it, I wouldn’t know what the name of this campaign would be, because it’s “infinite’s campaign”.
I thought I saw somewhere before infinite released, I saw a picture explaining game modes and I saw “select story”. This could have been a scrapped concept, I don’t know .
Although like I said in my first message I’m not the biggest fan of an Arbiter expansion, I still wouldn’t turn it down. I’d love to see what he’s getting up to post-H5.
More Alpha-9? Hell yeah, I’d love to see what they’ve been getting up to since they were dealing with that Insurrectionist cell in Bad Blood. I believe they did get back to Infinity near the end of that book too, right? My memory is a little fuzzy. Maybe they were also deployed on Operation: Breaker Trip seemingly with a large number of other Spartan-IVs aboard the Infinity. I mean that would explain why we only heard of 3 Spartan Fireteams being aboard Infinity when it supposedly was destroyed (those 3 being Intrepid, Taurus (RIP), and Windfall).
That Osiris duo expansion would be cool as well. But if Locke was deployed on Operation: Breaker Trip like Lasky said, then maybe this one might not be feasible. Just depends on what actually happened in the 6 months Chief was floating in space.
As for your last point I did cover this in my first message. I do want Chief’s story to be wrapped up, at least for the time being in the next expansion or so to pave the way for new DLC that is not Chief related. And to clarify, I don’t mean kill off Chief, just have him preoccupied elsewhere during the events of the story DLC.
Like I said in my first message, I’m not the biggest fan of fighting the Flood. It’s too same-y because how the Flood work in Halo can’t change, strictly based on the lore. But I know this is highly requested and if the story is good, I’ll absolutely play it anyways. Maybe larger breaks between the combat to take in the atmosphere? It’d make it more enjoyable for me anyways.
I’m gonna cut this one short because I can’t seem to reply to your whole message, so I’ll reply to these 2 points. I’ve replied to your other points in other parts of these 2 messages,
Firstly, that Spartan-IV story would be pretty cool. Stranded alone, fighting on the ring would be pretty sick and could be atmospheric. Maybe this Spartan was able to physically see the Infinity crash on the ring, blow up, or whatever happened to the ship, and it crushes their morale. I’m not sure how the story could work, but I’d absolutely love this.
Lastly, your Promethean idea. If they were reworked to be more engaging, less likely to constantly teleport, and maybe undergo a slight redesign to look more classical (draw inspiration from how Sentinels look), I think people would like them more as an enemy.
So, that’s me all caught up for the time being. Once a few more replies come in, I’ll probably respond to them as well, throwing my 2 cents on what you guys have been saying. But until then, take it easy! ((:
They could add in more pure forms to change up combat, or something of that nature.
I just really enjoyed the horror aspect of it as well as the extra tactical choices it grants. Namely shooting off their shooting arm, or weakening stronger enemies to let the Flood overcome them to create a better opportunity to kill that target, while it’s morphing into a combat form.
You’re team moves to a frigate that needs restored, no slip space but can cloak (thanks oni) to lightly armed for full on engagements so it operates as a orbital FOB. Big enough for two ships to bring troops up. Have upgrades you can find. Either shuttle down to ring to set up a ground assault or… Hop into some ODST drop pods, before loading up equip gear your taking in pod, assign npcs to pods if you want them to follow. Control the entire drop from inside, they land near by randomly so you may lose one to a bad drop lol.
Find an old missing UNSC vessel that was adrift for years, halo ce era tech lying about. Find out it was boarded and everyone including boarders were killed when a virus escaped a container. Virus is long gong but the guns, ammo and one warthog that refuses to die remain.
New vehicles even if they don’t show up in multiplayer, those space bikes from halo legends? Theres a mk Ii for an infiltration mission. That mega blocks treadbike thing? Throw it in. Armor akin to the prototype in legends, but varied because the original was lost and data on it incomplete.
Bring back the SMGs but make them always dual wielded, left trigger switches between burst and auto, always shoots both guns to keep balance easy.
DLC of the Spartans we have found dead in the main campaign. Sort of a soft prequel. It was awesome to hear about their great feats and teamwork, but it’d be even better if we got to play it first hand. Think Reach, but current times with Spartan-IVs.
A story for our Spartan. We already have a plethora of characters in the Halo universe with great stories, so having our Spartan be voiceless is A-OK with me. I can think of a few ways this could pan out. After the Spartan Academy tutorial, we know that Spartan Commander Agryna wants us to perfect our skills on the field. When she returns, she pulls us out for an operation to Zeta Halo. Your task is to find and assist lost Spartans and Marines, sabotage Banished outposts, and more things from the base campaign, with the addition of fellow Spartans at your side. Maybe we run into Lasky, Thorne, and Palmer, and set up shop with a base of operations. It’s possibilities are near endless (no pun intended). And since we are technically a side character Spartan, we don’t need to worry about mucking up the main story with Master Chief.
New game plus. Nothing too crazy, maybe a new skull(s) to let us swap Chief’s model with our MP Spartan. Maybe even play as Chief but with all equipment unlocked from the start after finishing the campaigns. Something like this has been modded into almost every past campaign. Why not make it official?
Grey team DLC if they get called to Zeta somehow lore-wise.
Red team if and when they make it to Zeta, perhaps to help hunt down Atriox. Base building similar to building Outer Haven in MGS5? Sounds cool to me! Although, I feel that Red team will be Spartans dedicated to the RTS games.
Blue team reassembles with Chief on Zeta.
Jun gets a DLC
ODST / UNSC Marine DLC where you are literally at death’s edge.
Sangheili DLC? Arbiter? New character? Elite defector?
Spartan-III Delta Company just magically re-enter the canon all lead by Noble 6 who discovered a wormhole in a cave while on Reach.
