What Banished AI might mean

So, the Banished have made an AI. I knew they were fools but I didn’t think they would be this stupid. Oh the humans couldn’t control their AI, so we’ll go make our own! Based on Brute personalities! :+1:

I think that’s an interesting plot development. There is a slight Terminator vibe to some of the Banished soundtracks and Atriox seems to have some sort of Forerunner AI with him. This is all a little suspicious. It was Mendicant all along…I see three eyes behind a throne of lies.

If he’s using that to create his own AI of suspect origin then that could lead into a Logic Plague story or that the Banished are (ironically) just a front being manipulated by these machines.

It could also explain some of why the Banished have been more effective than the Covenant if they have access to AI technology. Means they can do all the big brain stuff that Brutes can’t like logistics and planning and thinking.

Plus it raises the implicit question that if our enemies are getting all these dangerous AI then humanity would need to get its own. Which would tie back to the Weapon and Chiefs story. If they are going with some sort of fast track reconciliation between humanity and it’s AI; that might be planting the suggestion. You can’t kill all the AI if the enemy have their own and would leave humanity defenceless.

As long as the thinking logic of those AI is still based on Brute, the threat will not be great. I’m more worried about the human AI loaded into Promethean.

Is it stated its a Smart AI? “dumb” AI’s are still quite capable and are presumably the ones you use in MP. I don’t think its ever been implied dumb ai’s went rogue even.

It’s not stated. Given that it’s the same type of AI as your other AI companions I’d guess it’s a Dumb AI. That is in line with Covenant style tech. The personality does seem a bit…stunted. We might learn more later. The Banished have no shortage of dead to make Smart AI if they knew how.

Still it’s interesting that they’re introducing this element into the story as a feature of the Banished faction. AI have a habit of manipulating the Covenant species to do what they want.

LV106: According to the breach logs, the intrusion package was cycling an internally sourced encryption, but the retrieval signature was Jiralhanae.

LV038: I’m not surprised. Expanding our neural matrix donor pool beyond humanity was always going to draw some attention eventually. Knowing what they took, it makes complete sense.

LV106: That project was a walled garden. No one on the outside should have even known about it.

LV038: Looks like we overestimated the strength of those walls.

LV106: What would the Banished be able to do with our tech? How would they even kno–

LV038: I don’t know. Nobody does. And that’s what scares me the most.

It seems that this technology is stolen from humans.

Why on Earth would you want to make an AI from a Brute? :pensive:

More to the point why would you want to make more AI given the current issues? I mean the Vox Company are presumably humans of some description.

Although it is appropriate since the Covenant never had that tech and the Banished shouldn’t be able to make it themselves.

The Brutes we’re not a dumb race they actually used some human weapons in Halo 2 aswell. They were not the founders of the covenant. Also Halo Infinites NPC AI … Is equal if not better then HW2s AI.

It is so far above the other games. I must say the Tough Luck skull is permanently on when playing Heroic or higher, that or it’s on par with Halo Wars 2 ai they don’t just stand around an forget your a threat seconds later. I think it just seems easier cause we’re not forced into tight rooms so often with less possible paths to victory. The Brutes with the Hammer could use a gun when they are far away to keep up with there light gray Specops Elite mini bosses. The covenant had ship board AI in the past.

Looks like a bunch of Orks invading humanity in an unprovoked assault and massacring civilians because a Tyrant wants to carve out an Empire. I think something like that should be mocked and met with derision. Especially when it’s often an embarrassing failure after so much hot air.

Knowing which way to point the killing end of a rifle isn’t exactly intelligent. If Grunts were ten foot tall the Brutes would have been subjugated by them instead. They are only where they are because of an accident of biology and it’s certainly not their intelligence, culture or organisation. A proverbial stain on the galaxy.

The Brutes Chieftains could use a secondary weapon when wielding a hammer. The other Brutes should hide more often when there shields are low. What to do with the Berserkers ! they run so fast but from long range they could use a gun aswell.

Atriox is one of the smarter brute, he wouldn’t create “smart” AI after the “Created” problem. Unless he is controlled by a forerunner AI, like mendicant bias, who is bulding AI for himself

I think the Banished captured a “stupid” AI and use hurakog to create new one with brute personnality

Yeah the log implies they stole the AI from the Vox Volupsa people. For some reason they decided to make AI out of Brutes…

Now why they want an AI and why it would be loyal to the Banished.

I do think Atriox is very sus.

Given that an ai was needed to defeat cortana it actually makes sense why the banished would want one.

Now how on ensures loyalty is another question

See this is the issue. 343 hasn’t provided us with any context for the state of the galaxy. So Banished having an AI means basically nothing without context.

Plus it’s super low on the list of priorities. Why not just contact UNSC High Command and start getting a fleet together.

This isn’t the cart before the horse, this is throwing your luggage into the street first.

I think 343 is just done making nareative sense.

I mean the computer they put the ai in was glowing red and crackling with lightning…its like ais are magic

Yeah. Plus they have him almost possessing the Spartan with the jaw helmet. Don’t know if that’s brought over from the show or something?

BTW isn’t the next event this month? Thought we’d have heard something by now?

It seems that the event on July 19 will have new plot content.
Maybe this AI will reveal a lot of information about the Banished.

One can hope. It has been over five years so we probably should get some basic motivations down for the rulers of the Galaxy.

I guess not long now then.

Intrepid eye had some control over fred in the novels.

But youd think that would be like the reason to swap over to a new mjolnir platform when facing an AI coup.
Feels a bit silly as a narrative choice tbh.

more effective, yet they couldn’t stop a 30 year old battle ship. if they’re still going down this evil ai route then wtf did they get rid of cortana for!? i know the evil cortana thing was probably a weird choice but i would’ve liked to know where it was going, instead they off screan her and throw atriox to the side for their stupid new villain, seriously “Ooo, i was the real threat all along” what a load of bull.
