What are your top 5 most wanted changes/improvements?

What I’m going to do is keep a tabulation of the most wanted changes updated in the OP, giving 343 a reference point on what people want most if they ever actually look at these forums.

My Own Top 5

  1. In-game way to earn Credits. Something like 10 credits per daily and 20-30 per weekly should work just fine, fast enough that players can save up for the occasional store cosmetic and battlepasses, but slow enough that completionist types will still need to spend real money on cosmetics.

  2. Alot more permanent Playlists. Separate Slayer and Objective for both Ranked and Quick Play, Team SWAT, Infection FFA, Team Doubles, Team Snipers, and more.

  3. Seasonal Progression improvements. Removal of more of the harder weeklies. Either a match score to XP conversion system or an XP for Medals system. 2nd repeatable daily challenge that awards more XP for winning a match. More cosmetics and less boosts and swaps in future battlepasses after season 1.

  4. Career progression system. A separate progression system from the seasonal and event ones, which keeps track of your lifetime progress, retroactive to the release of this open beta. Cosmetic rewards on each level, lifetime challenges which unlock additional cosmetics, and more.

  5. More maps. I’m already getting a bit bored with the launch maps, would love to see at least the 3 misssing datamined maps added on the Dec 8 launch, with at least an additional 2 maps added before the end of season 1 in May.

This would be priority 1 for me. 343 said they launched multiplayer with a “focused offering” in order to “ensure healthy matchmaking” but how could it not be healthy right at launch when the population is as big as it will ever be?

If I was in charge, Halo Infinite would have launched with everything: Slayer, CTF, Swat, BTB Heavies, Fiesta, Infection, doubles, Husky Raid, Battle Golf, you name it. Then playlists could be consolidated afterwards if they aren’t popular. Because right at launch is the time when the playerbase is the biggest it will ever be, isn’t it? I don’t understand 343’s decision here. Game needs more playlists.

#2. More heavy vehicles in BTB, or just give us a Heavies mode.
#3. Radar range should be increased to what it was in previous Halo games.
#4 Can we get more options in custom games?
#5 I hope 343 is working on making bots able to use vehicles

Added to the op. I agree with all of those. I heard that the bots are supposed to be able to use vehicles in an update coming at launch or soon thereafter.

I only ask two things

1.- That the penalties against the “Leavers” and “Throwers” are more severe to prevent HALO-INFINITE from suffering from the same “tragic fate as its sister saga gears 5” in less than 3 months it went from 20 million to 100k users , because its ranked / quick-play was unplayable

2.- A balance between Aim-assist and kb / mouse in accuracy that both “methods” have the same precision with “official” data.

3.- Realistic objectives in the gamepass, kill enemies, win games, make killer streaks etc. No nonsense like kill with a grenade a bird that is flying 500 meters from you

  3. Slayer Playlists and Objective Playlists.
  4. Weapon rebalancing

Fix the model of Spartans to have glutes instead of pancakes and add female Spartans, not just voices

Yeah, I would love to see better body choices. Body should really resize the armor pieces instead of only changing the undersuit, especially since they are charging $18 per armor set.

A lot more Custom Games options (especially for Energy Sword properties), more accessible and streamlined menu UI, customizable HUD elements for position and size, more teamwork-friendly challenges, more vehicle-friendly BTB maps (and some more Mongoose/Ghost maps in 4v4)

My top 5 changes wanted for Halo Infinite, excluding forthcoming features (forge, co-op):

  1. Progression that rewards good in-game performance, down to every flag cap / assist / medal.
  2. Rewards exclusive to in-game performance, that cannot be paid for in the online store.
  3. A feature that makes sure you and your friends are always in your squad when they join BTB (right now you are sometimes split up, even when joining BTB in a party of 4)
  4. Controller input that allows a team of 4 console player to play 4 console players in ranked.
  5. Blood / blood decals in campaign mode.

  1. XP progression from Challenge based more towards Performance based. (Still keeping the challenges but having them toned down.)

  2. More playlists. (Separated and more modes)

  3. Better Customization and rewards from Battle Pass. (cross core, colors free, patterns that you could get or buy).

  4. Custom game browser and earning XP when playing in these lobbies.
    (This XP gain can be capped to certain amount daily).

  5. Spawning enemies (such as elites, grunts, brutes) in Forge once it is out.

  1. Remove ALL dark patterns baked into the game’s design. ALL of them. Stop designing predatory games. Stop trying to trick and coerce customers. It’s anti-customer, unethical, and should be illegal. Don’t care if anything else changes if this doesn’t. This is the only change that matters because it has very real societal costs if left unaddressed. Most of the game’s design problems stem from baking dark patterns into the game:
  • Make Spartan customization systems favor customer creativity and freedom, not dark pattern monetization by being overly-restrictive and an utterly terrible deal by just about any stretch of the imagination.

  • Get rid of daily/weekly challenges. Let players play when they want, how they want. If there must be a progression system, no skips, no swaps, just earn it by playing the game on our own time rather than on schedules dictated by temporal dark patterns.

  • Provide real player choice in gameplay types through playlists. These are being controlled and restricted, again, to create temporal dark patterns to manipulate how players engage the game. Let folks play what they like playing!

All of those relate to dark pattern game design that’s bad for the customer but this shall be counted as four items. For the fifth?

  • Restore the OG Halo radar. I don’t know what is up with the one in this game, but it is… really off? Part of the strategy and tactics of OG Halo is use of crouch to avoid radar detection, which is almost pointless with how narrow the radar focus is. Get rid of it entirely or expand it to be useful like it once was.

A better fix to progression and xp (the one we got is okay, but the base amount it’s scaled off of should be bumped up, and give bonuses for performance)

Playlists

Give us classic customization, everything is earnable, is not overly expensive, nothing is limited like these armor color palettes

Return the radar to how it was, this new one is too low range (also doesn’t help that a sprinting guy is next to silent)

Weapon balances. Plasma pistol needs its hp damage upped (needed it for years, it’s next to useless now with no EMP,) pulse carbine needs faster projectiles, ravager needs something done either its aoe or way faster projectiles, commando needs br style bullet magnetism or reduced bloom etc. Lot of great balance and then there’s parts that just feel like they got none at all

  3. Where are the stats? Why i don’t see my stats on Waypoints for Infinite? I know there is a third party site that show them but how comes both MCC and 5 have the stats but not Infinite?
  4. Battle Pass/customization seem weird. Ill have to spend more time looking how it work but it does not seem intuitive vs a game like lets say Splitgate…
  5. Almost all guns beside the rocket launcher need to be buffed. Seriously i tried most guns and they feel like BB guns. Take forever to kill someone unless you bash or throw a nade… Even when picking what is supose to be a power gun/pick up gun.
